  • 22 people keep getting hit by edible missiles.

  • Who is the guy with the long hair?

  • @thrumymind Terry Gilliam, the guy who did all the animations;

  • Oh so timely with today's events at Parliament with Rupert Murdoch!

  • Palin is amazing and my fave LOVE HIM.

  • Love the way Terry Gilliam can't suppress his laughter...

  • Bill Oddie! Yay!

    And Michael's just gorgeous.

  • Brilliant

  • ROFL!!

  • I love how Gill is grinning the entire time XD

  • Long live Monty Python, and 22 people can piss off!

  • Yeh Graham Chapman sobered up in 1977 because his drinking was seriously affecting his work.

  • Why is the singer from Spinal Tap on stage ?

  • @JohnsonLobster

    Why not?

  • I cried so much the first time I saw this, my eyes were red the day after.

  • you've got to be a genius to make something like that so irresistibly funny...

  • gotta love them pythons....shame that Chapmans dead

  • i did this for my talent show got 2nd place! i was the guy in the middle xD

  • The look on Gilliam´s face... adds to the laughters, I´d say!

  • Gilliam cannot keep a straight face.

  • Imagine rehearsing the cakebit!!

  • Terrance Gilliam cut you hair!!!

  • @ejayboo but that's like half his sexiness right there!

  • poor Terry Jones

  • Suprise Deposit

  • He's trying his hardest not to smile.

  • they are Greatest !

  • 1:50 The audience got a little bit uncomfortable when these guys came closer :-)

  • Lol, Gilliam's so awesome in this; it's in his look.

  • This is my absolute favourite Python sketch.

  • God, Gilliam's deranged smile totally makes this sletch.

  • BRILLIANT!

  • Where did this come from? I've never seen this version before...

  • bill oddie!!!

  • This vid shows me that I'm not so good in english as I tought, I laughed my ass of anyways xD

  • the dude on the right looks like he's about to BURST

    with laughter that is

  • Is that Bill Oddie (Goodies) who handed them the pies and says "god i wish i were doing it"

  • yup/ Bill oddie and the goodies were involved with early Python stuff

  • The unmistakable voice of Bill Oddie there.

  • Always felt rather sorry for TJ's character in this sketch. It's quite sweet how you can see that Michael is trying to control himself before the pie-sharing incident lolol

  • I love how Gilliam just can't stop smiling.

  • This isn't rare, it's from Live at the Hollywood Bowl which was filmed in 1982

Chapman wasn't clearly drunk since he'd quit drinking before filming Life of Brian which was filmed in 1975. Getting sober almost killed him and he'd never touched the stuff again.

His drinking was actually a contributing factor to John Cleese quitting the Pythons. Him and Graham where writing partners and he became intolerable to be around.

  • @rrtodd95 Sorry, he quit drinking after Life of Brian in Christmas 1977.

  • @rrtodd95 Okay I know I'm late in commenting, but yes he is drunk, because this was NOT the version from Live at the Hollywood Bowl, this is much earlier than that. He was still drinking at this time. Although I have to agree, this isn't rare, you can buy this on DVD

  • cameo from Bill Oddie!

  • That was hilarious !

  • perfection

  • there is a DVD already ^^ s not really rare is it?

  • Not particularly rare I am afraid. This is part of the DVD Box

  • But hopefully only in a desired direction.

  • @armandin2048 I think he meant "dimension", in lieu of his quote having been only "extended" with no clue as to which direction it was going in the first place. But you must've been onto something to have him come back here after six months!

  • You can tell they all want to crack up soo soo bad.

  • Literally a master-class in comedy. It is often the simplest things that are the most perfect.

  • I love the choreographing it must have required to get that sequence of getting Terry Jones pied back and front at the same time XD

  • I love how Terry Gilliam is obviously trying not to laugh. :D

  • i LOVE this sketch. At my school, the junior class always does a talent show. When my brother was a junior they decided to make it a british theme, so they did 3 or 4 Monty Python sketches during it [including this one], and even called it "And now for something completely different..."

  • It seriously made me rolling on the floor, laughing my ass off.

  • Great piece of choreography.

  • All I see when i see these people is them dressed as knights. I used to think The Holy Grail was the only thing Monty Python ever did lol. So Naive

  • this is the version from the Secret Policeman's Ball and yes the guy in the hat with the pies is Bill Oddie

  • Bill Oddie!!!!!

  • is the long haired bloke terry gilliam?

  • I love how mad Michael Palin looks. It makes me giggle everytime I see this :p

  • Terry Gilliam's expressions are priceless!

  • Terry Gilliam cannot keep from grinning through the whole thing.

  • and last but not least, the unexpected projectile... *splat* ok i really didn't see that coming when i saw it on DVD.

  • poor Graham :(

  • He's drunk...heh. XD

    I'd like an edible missile...

  • OMG it is ULTRA RARE that's why it is on youtube!

  • the man who brimgs out the pies at 3:25. is that Bill Oddie form the goddies

  • @kilroy8989 Bill Oddie of the Goodies? Yes, it is.

  • Pre-Python, at University, Cleese and Gilliam were in the Cambridge Footlights with the future Goodies: Bill Oddie, Tim Brooke-Taylor and Graeme Garden. The two groups had multiple connections.

  • @kilroy8989

Yes it is my friend! I had to rewind it to check! :)

  • This is maybe one of the funniest MP-Scetches ever. Thanks for posting it!!!

Vielleicht einer der witzigsten MP-Sketche überhaupt. Danke für's posten!!!

  • jajajajaj very funny poor terry jones

  • wisible!!!!!!

    lol

  • that one dude looks like a caveman

  • "Popular as this jest has been, however, it cannot compare with the reviled connotations associated with the dispatch of an edible missile. *grin*"

  • @Robotman42 that's "ribald connotations"

  • @Robotman42 Edible missile - are you alluding to the penis?

  • @armandin2048 That wasn't what I had in mind, but it seems like you've managed to extend my quotation into a whole new direction.

  • @Robotman42 "Ribald", not "Reviled"

  • SlapStick.

  • lol PIE THROWING

  • i wonder if gilliam's corpsing is real, or intended. he does the same thing at hollywood bowl...

  • That's fantastic. Their creativity and execution are just staggering. Thanks for uploading!

  • My guess is this is from Live At The City Center.

  • its bill oddie!

  • brilliant, something that could be so mundane and not funny is hilarious :)

  • this isnt ultra rare, its simply filmed from a different angle than it is shown on the live at the hollywood bowl video.

  • How is something that even made it into Live at the Hollywood Bowl considered "ultra rare"?

  • Because it's not from the same performance at all, it's 1976 here, Hollywood Bowl was shot in the early 80's I guess

  • It's amazing how good Terry Gilliam's comic acting is, given that he never really trained in it, and his real genius is animation.

  • @thexalon I really enjoyed Gilliam as Cardinal Fang. "Not the comfy chair!!!!"

  • Gilliam Gilliam Giliiam....you NAUGHTY person. LOOL. xxxxxx :):):):)

    You cheeky CHEEKY man.

  • what year was this?

  • 1976

  • Graham is probably drunk, but you can hardly tell it 'coz he's such a great actor.. He's my favorite of 'em all..

  • I don't think it's possible to be under the influence of anything with those lines. I don't think i could do it sober! (although, Graham was such a good actor, he could probably do anything.)

  • lol Ultra Rare!!

  • That man that came is Bill Oddie

  • Some of it was cut out! There was a bit with a plank of wood, WTF!

    I feel gyped..

  • That was in another show.

  • the end was the best

  • Monty Python are gods

    I'm spanish

  • Completamente de acuerdo.

  • is graham chapman drunk?

  • he looks a little tipsy, maybe. Probably just nerves mixed with a little alcohol. brilliant sketch though. absoultely hillarious.

i love when the audience gets all worried when the three of them approach with the pies. =]

  • think so

  • @tierna1981 NOP NO..HE IS REPRESENTING THE SWEATY LECTURER WITH MESSY HAIR..

  • @tierna1981 he doesnt need to be drunk, he's graham :D that aside, i like how poor gilliam tries not to laugh but fails ^^

  • @tierna1981 Always.

  • this isnt rare at all..was done at The Secret Policeman's Ball in the 70s

You can buy the dvds, so not rare

This is one of my top 5 Python Skits

  • How can it be ultra rare if its on youtube?

  • Looks like it isn't "ultra rare" any longer then :)

  • Ownd. Oh that's great.

  • @rmenardster It's so rare, nobody has ever seen it. Ever.

  • @rmenardster the official VHS copies etc are obviously in short supply.

  • @rmenardster he has lowered it down to the ran of super-rare. Congratulations sir, you change youtube.

  • @rmenardster Because anyone in the world can upload to youtube and therefore any footage, no matter how many copies exist in the world, can be uploaded.

  • @rmenardster Super rare, hencece utubeable...

Ultra rare is just one step higher

  • is this from the movie?

  • bo it's from one of there old skits on stage

  • "The dispatch of an edible Missile"

  • this is totally rad....M.P. rox...=)

  • It's as though the entire sketch is just on the fringe of disaster for the whole time: one good improvisation away from making all of the actors crack up -- and that's what makes it so bloody good!

  • I love Terry G.'s wicked grinning.

  • oh man... lol... Terry Jones is gonna need a shower.

  • i feel sorry for jones. But still funny

  • "Edible Missile" - cracks me up everytime!

  • well i don't think you would be laughing while edible missiles are flying in your face....

  • Heheh very funny. Michael's deadpan face, and terry's fed up face are great but Gilliams faces steal this sketch thow for me

  • i agree, that Graham Chapman didn't look all that drunk...perhaps a little tipsy, though (I certainly couldn't have read all that out/remembered the lines if I was drunk...damn)

and how, how HOW did Michael palin keep his face THAT deadpan...?!?!

  • chapman is just swelting :D

  • I love Gilliams face at 1.20

  • ROFLMOA

Looked liked he was breaking up at the end.

  • :D:D:D:D Gilliam is great :D

and jones looks like "oh do I have to do this?" :D

  • The look on Terry's face want he stands by the chair xD

    Hysterical!

  • what year is this?

  • chapman is not drunk.

  • Do you think that Gilliam expression is trying to say 'OMG Graham's drunk and we all know it how hysterical'?

He doesn't seem that drunk tho...

The Pythons will never get old. They're geniuses.

  • Amen to that ^^

  • omg, at 1:09 i have those shoes!!!!

    cool!

  • *smirk* thank you proffesor

  • g.c smiled

  • I don't think that he's very drunk here.

  • This is a bloody masterpiece! I love it!

  • Michael Palin does great deadpan

  • Gilliam doesn't...haha

  • If you look at him he's not trying to do dead pan

  • its TOO LOUD!

  • lol chapman is so drunk

  • HAhahahaa!!

    I love the end!

I think Graham Chapman was my favorite python....it sucks that he died :( :( :(

  • Is that Bill Oddy walking on stage at 3:20?

  • Bill Oddy, indeed!

  • Love the assistant's hair.

  • That's terry gilliam, director of movies like "brazil " and "twelve monkeys". But yes, great hair! love the 70s!

  • Love the end bit!

  • Absolute surprise there ^^

  • its called absurd humour...its different from stupid humour in that it is not stupid

  • hilariously stupid.

  • I KNOW! I just can't hep but love stupid-comedy. I think it needs its own genre.

  • Rare or not, this is some classic, badass, AWESOME as hell, hardcore Monty Python shit. I'll be watching his stuff until the day I die. And STILL be laughing all the way. Kudos to the English. You guys rock!

  • amen.

  • It is said that anything original has been done well over 100 years ago. The quacks make it hard to believe that. I'm always amazed by them.

  • Lool Terry Gilliam!!!!

  • Poor Terry Jones. :D

  • graham was not that drunk i know because i have been more drunnk then that an di mean give the man a break ha was tryng his bast fror god sake

  • One of their best sketches ever! 5 stars!

  • Rare? its part of the "monty python live at the hollywood bowl" and thats out on dvd...

    rare my arz!

  • As one can see clearly this is NOT the piece from Hollywood Bowl.

This one is from their performance called "Secret Policemans Ball" which were held in London in...'77 or '79 I think...

  • Great find!

  • HAHA, Terry Giliam is hardly trying not to laught.
