If you've just got a picture and not the actual fish, the best way to tell a snakehead (invasive) from a bowfin (indigenous) is the length of the anal fin. Bowfin has a "normally" shaped anal fin whereas a snakehead's is elongated just like the dorsal. Couldn't get a great look at this one, but it looked pretty long. I'm calling it a SNAKEHEAD.

By the way, "eye spot" on some snakeheads but on ALL male bowfin, so that's NOT a good way to tell.

They can't kill you. Normally Snakehead will just swim away from you when they encounter you, unless you are disturbing their Babies. Only when you are disturbing the babies for example putting your hands down to catch the babies, you then have a chance at losing your hands

Actually, the bowfin or burbot as known in yankee country has the eye marking on the tail. That is not a snakehead. The color of the fish whether light or dark is depending on the environment.
