Good voice for a tango. She and Valentino were finished before his death. Falling on his coffin was a great photo-op for her. At one time she claimed to be Hitler's lover. Strange woman!

@mayatatyana1 ^Yes . she was strange, but I read some seriously biographies about here and shure and 100% she wasn't Hitlers lover (I read also much biographies about Hitler). But before she knows Rudy she was Charlie Chaplin's lover, it was a bad realtionship and very excessive...Yes, it seems it was finished before Rudy's dead...But I think she alltought she loved him truly..

@mayatatyana1 where did you read that Pola claimed she was Hitler's lover?? just the opposite - when his position starting to grow in strengh, she only dreamed to escape from Germany and she did it, first went to France, then back to America.

You know i'm grazy about Rudy -he drives me wild! I think he loved Pola and she loved him - such a tragic lovestory, so sad he must die so young...I love him. His beauty wasn't only physical, he had a very beautiful soul...O Rudy!

Now i have seen it - wow! What a wife! I think Pola was the unique woman on the side of Rudy equal to Valentino - both look so happy together on all there pics. Natascha Rambova d'ont loved him in the same intensity like Rudy loved Natacha.

The german lyrics are beautiful melancholics. The refrain - "ICH HAB AN DICH GEDACHT/als der Tango Notturno/zwischen Abend und Morgen/aus der Ferne erklang... means: I WAS THINKING ABOUT YOU/when the Tango Notturno/between the evening and the tomorrow/from the distance soundet...Im shure she was thinking of Rudy while singing.

But by 1:29 she is singing:" I was thinking about HIM (!) " - not "you" - this very ununsual in this song, because i know the lyrics in all versions of the song only with "about you". When you listen here voice 1:29 you can hear the heartache and the deep sorrow.

I think the same. You can see this on the pictures of both. Natacha Rambova looks very cold and over-styled on all the pics, Pola looks relaxed, naturalness and very in love with Rudy.

I always thought so too. She looks/sounds unfriendly. Even though Rudy reconciled with Natacha, and she wrote a book, i just don't think they were compatible enough or on the same wave length.

I noticed that too. I once saw a photo of Rudy and Natasha where he was looking at her with total adoration, but she was staring very coldly at the camera. There's another photo where he is signing something and she's sitting next to him and is also staring at the camera with lifeless eyes, like a statue. She made me feel uncomfortable.

Yes. Pola did, and she said in her later years after she had been married, that Rudy was the love of her life. I know Rudy never got over Natacha, but i think he liked Pola too.

Yes, but but mancy voices was getting huffy about this and accused her to get a PR-Gag, but i think too she was realy in love to Rudy. He still loved Natacha, and yeterday i read when he was just in hospital the first days they was exchanging love-telegramms aigain (Rudy + Nata)

Rudy is naughty for sure. :) I think it seems in the 20s they were experimenting maybe on what films could do. Then, the censorship code came around 1930 or so. Not sure the exact year.

The Production Code was not created until 1930. This code forbade all kinds of things, like it said people could not kiss for more than six seconds, etc. I think Rudy would have hated it. It was repressive and hypocritical. But I suppose before 1930, anything was OK!

I love watching Rudy when he's Mr. Naughty Hands!
