  • Answer to the question where was Buddha born which country??lumbini Nepal is the right answer..not indian sub continent..the shakya tribe of Nepal are more mongoloid than Indians who are originally from arab and persia...Indians were ruled by the British for soo long...they were treated like slaves at that time..Nepal fought and drove them away...it's a disgrace to Buddha to say he was indian origin and nationality..what if china comes and says mt everest is in china??we keep quite again??

  • @MusaMansu Are you Japanese?how do you feel if they say Tenno heika of Japan was from Korea??Buddha was born in Nepal but these Indians made lots of twisted textbooks that the world now says Buddha was indian born in india which is completely wrong...they even made fake lumbini in india..I wouldn't have any problem if they didn't mention 二千五百年前インドat the beginning..

  • @nimaxify

The problem is that the nations of India and Nepal did not exist in Buddha's time. Back then "India" was just a geographic term to refer to the entire Indian subcontinent as a whole.

Even the name "India" itself is derived from the Indus River in what is today Pakistan, so it's ironic that the present-day Republic of India derives its name from a river outside of its borders.

  • @nimaxify No what your talking about before you post. Buddha was born in India. I don't know what that has to do with this film though, since I'm pretty sure that it's set in Indian.

  • buddha is born in nepal.

  • @MrPragalv good boy! glad to know it

  • Now I want to go buy the manga! Dammit movie trailer!!

  • @Hanoshiro india is just 64yrs old....our country was united by great gurkha emperor prithivi narayan saha in 1814...if ur hindu then ur indian????tibet, bhutan n all n.e indian were of different race(asian) n have own independent kingdom but later indian ate those n.e indian part like assam, sikkim etc..india also holds our 1/3 part of ur land...it was taken by british but indian ate those too....indian goverment is really dangerous....for small country like ours.

  • @Hanoshiro british united india by colonising different kingdoms of ancient india...majority kingdoms were ruled by mughals...nepal has nothing to do with india....if we were same country how can our race be diffferent...we have asian look...please dont fool people with baseless stories..if u dont know anything then just shut up n watch cartoon.

  • Shakya siddhartha Gautam all nepalese name nothing to do with india...so Buddha was born in lumbini Nepal not somewhere in india..

I would not care if Indians didn't try to build fake lumbini inside india..

  • ok when it come out YOU are going to put it on youtube but turn it round so it not copyright

  • @MrMARIAZONE shut up + go buy the dvd.

  • Is this movie out yet?

  • @WickedIsPopular buddha was born in nepal.

  • Oh my god this looks freakin' sweet

  • @Arrowwulf

Don't you mean Oh my Buddha?

  • @Sanimangas Heh heh yeah I guess so.

  • @Arrowwulf buddha was born in nepal.

  • The anime industry is dying and every anime looks exactly alike. I hate this. But Tezuka's manga taught me not to hate.

Either way, I don't believe this movie can give off the same power as the manga.

  • @Sanimangas For the most part I agree with you. Film/Animation of today is a much flashier medium than comics, so my immediate concern is them interpreting Tezuka's subtle imagery in a far too dramatic way, diminishing both his work and the story of Siddhartha.

Apart from that, the animation itself looks nice. Still, it would have been great to have seen them recreate the texture of Tezuka's brilliant inks, and not just go for the standard clean-line look. Oh well, I guess we'll see.

  • @KillYounglings

Tezuka would have preferred hand drawn animation. If you compare computer animation next to hand drawn the difference is immense. Hand drawn is just so organic and realistic, but computer is just flashy and colorful with no soul. You just can't match the hand of an animator with a mouse.

  • @Sanimangas buddha was born in nepal.

  • @KillYounglings buddha was born in nepal.

  • they speak japan 2000 year ago in india!!

and buddha is a look cute too

    @B@

  • funimation better get a hold of this movie.

  • @SuperDisneyFreak2000 buddha was born in nepal.

  • when will it be available in the US

  • These generic anime designs are just gross, while would they ruin what was already perfect?

  • I see no reason to complain about the art style. Tezuka's story being intact is all that should matter.

Besides if the art style is different yet they still keep the framing similar to the manga panels it just would seem even more petty to bitch.

  • @Arisatokun Thank you - your comment is the only one that has some sens. Lot of people didn't like "Metropolis" because the "style looked old-fashioned". Now they complain about the design of this one... They will maybe complain about Urasawa's "Pluto".

The story of this new feature film looks the same as in Tezuka's manga. So I don't see the problem.

  • I'm disappointed because of the art style, but now I'm in Japan and I'm definitely gonna see this!

  • Um... to all those calling the movie an insult to Tezuka, why don't you wait AFTER the movie comes out to make your opinion?

  • looks like they quote unquote "Updated" the art style ie made it look generic like everything else the market offers, oh well maybe that will make the shallow american fans pay attention to it

  • Such a disgrace to Osamu Tezuka, r.i.p.

  • This looks nothing like tezukas style... so all they did was bite his rendition of the Buddha's story, but not stay true to the art? Way to make his roll in his grave... and I was just reading this too and decided to wiki it out of curiosity when I found this out. Totally disappointed.

  • @Rosalith I agree. For one I'm not a big fan of the new anime style of grey-faces and zig-zag hair. It kind of shows a cut-of point from when anime was good. Tezuka's original anime for instance was lot more colorful-looking and owed nothing to the CGI zeitgeist I'm looking at now.

I'd rather watch Bremen 4, something that modern anime fans I'm sure would not understand so well.

  • @Rosalith As much as that may be true. You must consider the fact that he died in 1989 and to replicate his art would not be an easy task unless some of his assistants worked on this movie. I'm sure they changed the artwork for a bigger audience and since most animators wouldn't know how to draw his style because they have become so accustomed to the current style we have today in modern times.

  • @Lxkill Yeah but really I dont care about all the difficulty theyd have, because they decided to brand this as "Osamu Tesuka's" Buddha not some general Buddha story, its his rendition of the story and they should have stayed true to his artwork. You have to admit, isnt it weird that they're slapping his name on this, yet they're using the boring general anime style for it rather than the style it was first drawn in??? Metropolis was a success why can't Buddha get the same treatment?

  • @Rosalith Mhm, that's a good point. I don't particularly agree with what is being done either, but I think they are at least crediting him as author/writer even though as a mangaka one is technically both an artist and author. I just don't know of the process that goes through with decisions for animes/movies or as to why they would do something like this without trying to recreate his artwork. They might just be doing it for money, sadly. :<

  • Looks kind of sappy, but I'll end up seeing it anyway, unless the earthquake affected production. Still holding out for Berserk either way.

  • Here's a good question why does this look NOTHING like Tezuka's artwork? They've removed everything iconic about his art style just because it has to look modern such bullshit.

  • Hi, i just started reading the comics which are amazing, when is this out? Thx

  • @binisingh The first Buddha movie will be released to theaters in Japan May 2011.

  • @astroboyworld And will be released to usa in?

  • the comic whas really awsome, i hope this will be too!

  • omg! i want to watch this!! the manga was good.

  • dub plz.

this is the first manga i ever read, and it's still my favorite. i read the 7th book in 2 days.

  • well it's nice but I prefer comic book more nostalgia feeling

  • finally a movie that reminds me of princess mononoke !!!

  • @xazoux buddha was born in nepal.

  • Wow cool. I hope that they'll sub or dub the film soon after that.

  • @CartoonPrincess15 Usually takes at least a year, but considering the niche status of this title it might be much longer... I think I won't be able to resist fan subs on this one.

  • @CartoonPrincess15 buddha was born in nepal.
