This swan is not trying to kill the duck (adulty female muscovy duck). It is in fact trying to mate with it - as someone else mentioned. Female muscovies will not fight the male when its trying to mate and will now and then grab a breath as can be seen in this video. There is no way a swan will be able to hold down full grown female muscovy against her will. This is normal behaviour for a female muscovy and a male swan hoping to mate (with whatever comes along in this case)

If you feel like helping an animal in a situation like this then do so, however not doing so does not make you wrong. This is nature.

You could also try to throw some of the loose dirt on the ground at it. My point is, you gotta at least try to do something to see if you can save the duck.

as soon as you can film an animal to less than 1 meter of it it's not wild... and I don't think that the swan will eat the duck after having killing it... it's just some cruelty

whether an animal is wild or not isn't influenced by how close a cameraman is to the animal (to even suggest this is idiocy). if i go walk up and film a zebra from 1 meter away, it doesn't instantly turn into a domesticated animal (which is the opposite of wild animal). a wild animal is wild whether it's 10 centimeters away or 10 kilometers away. in many nature preserves it is illegal to interfere with animal behavior, including predation.

This swan is not trying to kill the duck (adulty female muscovy duck). It is in fact trying to mate with it - as someone else mentioned. Female muscovies will not fight the male when its trying to mate and will now and then grab a breath as can be seen in this video. There is no way a swan will be able to hold down full grown female muscovy against her will. This is normal behaviour for a female muscovy and a male swan hoping to mate (with whatever comes along in this case)

Therefore if he believes that the black swan was trying to kill duck, he should have offered a helping hand and he did not. For that, he's blameworthy. If you have a cat or a dog and it comes under attack, let's pray that Mendak is not close by because he's not capable of helping.

@FareezLovesMe Possibly, but did you know that people doing documentaries about animals (eg. National Geographic) have a policy of not interfering regardless of whats happening to an animal. Unless this is someone's pet (which it probably is not) it should be seen as nature and the way things happen. Male adult lions kill cubs and so do many other animals. If you feel like helping an animal in a situation like this then do so, however not doing so does not make you wrong. This is nature.

However, you should also know that there was at least one recorded instance of the film-makers deciding to save a baby elephant. In other words, this law is not that sacred, and for good reason. " Nature " should never be an excuse to act without compassion or to be nonchalant to the suffering of others. The point is you help if you can.

Anyway, the surroundings is at your advantage here. Its close to land, so you can try to move the head with a branch or poke it with it to distract it long enough so the duck can get away. You could also try to throw some of the loose dirt on the ground at it. My point is, you gotta at least try to do something to see if you can save the duck.

Ok, people. Swans are actually quite aggressive and dangerous and will attack/harm you every chance they get so the guy would've really been risking a finger or two at the least by trying to stop the swan from what it was doing. And what about letting nature take its course? What happened to that? Because ANIMALS KILL EACH OTHER ALL THE TIME, yes, some even just for sport. I had a bunch of chickens and a coon savagely murdered them all and didn't eat even one.

That swan had no need to drown the duck, and you had no reason - except because it was novel in your view - to allow the swan to kill the duck. Yes, these things happen all the time, but GOD gave humans dominion over animals, and we have the authority to prevent such things from happening instead of filming it for entertainment.
