  • JFK, had he lived longer, would have converted!!

  • "a prosecuted minority" and mormons have learned the value of PAY IT FORWARD, now taking the time to prosecute minorities THEMSELVES! Keep the hate cycle alive!

  • Not only is the rowdy international celebrity a member of the LDS Church, but he's also as active and passionate about his church involvement as he is about his booming career.

From Family Home Evening with "Primary song singing time" to attending church meetings, Beck said he and his "incredible" wife make it work.

  • From documentary "Presidents and Prophets: The Story of America's Presidents and the LDS Church."

  • Wow! What a neat video! Thanks for posting! :)

  • wgordon8,

One day I hope you can put off your hate and learn the TRUTH!

  • Your problem omiolo is you can't handle the truth.

  • "Your problem omiolo is you can't handle the truth. "

the problem is you offer NO truth to handle!

  • That was really neat!

  • I never knew that JFK spoke at the Tabernacle. How fantastic to hear his words of encouragement.

  • An inspiring video. I think his words are again timely, in present circumstances. Mormons have a reputation for working hard to make things better, and their beliefs are what guide and motivate them. Take away their beliefs, and you take away their power to do good, positive things in this country and throughout the world. I say, before you toss the coin out, look at the flip side!

  • This was really interesting to be able to hear President JFK's speach. I was Born in January of 1963. My parents had a great deal of respect for this beloved president and were greatly saddened at his death. I remember many times growing up hearing them speak of his presidency and also his assassination. It is interesting to note that he spoke in the tabernacle just two months before his death.

  • President Kennedy was a great man - it's a shame that he was murdered - he would have done some good in our country.

  • Kennedy was inspirational on many levels. He recognized that Utah was a safe place to deliver a major speech. He was personally popular among the Mormons.

  • JFK was basicly a good man with high and noble goals. I thing he would be shocked to see how his party has turned their backs on America and sought after socialism.

  • What a great video. I had no idea. . .

  • I really enjoyed hearing his own words. He was always so eloquent. I love the way he pronounces the word "murder" - so very Bostonian - "murda"

  • Amazing..JFK actually saying the Mormons were leaders..It's interesting to note, That the other Kennedy, Ted, Is good friends with Senator Hatch. Both speak highly of each other. Maybe we have misjudged them???

  • Very stirring words.

  • I didn't know Pres. Kennedy was in SLC. Perhaps he understood judgement about religion since there was much concern about him becoming the first Catholic president.

  • I was very young when this happened. It is nice to hear the words of a US President acknowledging the good works of the Latter Day Saints.

  • Great video!

  • It was wonderful to hear President JFK's voice again. It was also wonderful to hear the positive comments he made about the Latter Day Saints and the persecution they had to go through.

  • This is another example of how the current Democrat party has been hijacked by extremist Liberals. JFK was conservative in many areas, as was the Democrat organization decades ago. Look at its leaders today, and you will see the distortion. 1963 was an amazing year, as I was a pre-teen and remember it all.

  • Glad to hear JFK recognize and praise the Mormons.

  • The platform of the Democratic Party of 1963, it was what we now recognize as to the "right" of the Republican Party of 2008!!! That is why Kennedy was really quite a conservative compared todays political winds.

Please vote for men who uphold moral values! It will not come from the vote for President -- it must come from electing your local leaders who uphold moral values, this power to choose the right starts at the grassroots level first!

    May God Bless America!!!

  • This is cool! I didn't know Pres. Kennedy was ever in Salt Lake City.

  • And everywhere it is heard that only republicans can come to Utah!! Both democrats and republicans and others appreciate the good being done by LDS/Mormons. Check it out and see...

  • What a fascinating clip. I have been wanting to read the book "Presidents and Prophets" and now I think I will.

  • I never knew JFK knew anything about the 'Mormons' - I loved JFK and what he stood for. Thanks for sharing this.

  • I never knew that JFK spoke at the Tabernacle. It seems significant in light of what happened just two months later. how many times I've walked the streets of SLC and never imagined a president of the US there, and yet I'm sure that has happened time and time again - the Church does honor its American leaders and follow the laws of the land. this video is a good reminder of that and the other contributions the church has made to democracy.

  • Good and more importantly true about the LDS church.

  • Great information!

  • Wow, I didn't know anyone knew about the "Mormons" way back then.

  • Thank you for sharing this great moment in history especially with those to young to remember the event themselves.

  • Cool

  • It is always wonderful to hear positive comments about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. This one is especially touching as JFK was a much loved President.

  • Thanks for the video! Glad to hear the President recognized and honored the accomplishments of the LDS people and used their example of not giving up!

  • Thank you for this presentation. I had no idea that this had ever occurred. I appreciate JFK's words and holding the LDS people up as an example for the rest of the world.

  • We really enjoyed the positive video presentations about the Church. We feel priviledged to be members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

  • I was pleased to see that Kennedy knew about the persucution that the Latter-Day Saints suffered at the hands of their persecutors; & that he recognized it's accomplishments despite the odd's being against them.

  • I was very pleased to see this video. While I've heard of YouTube before I never paid much attention to it before this. I'm going to check out some more as soon as I have the time. Thanks for sharing.

  • What a revealing and refreshing speech by JFK. He is loved, but also known as immoral and wild. But here he shows compassion and love towards to Church and its members. Thanks for a great video.

  • Great video. The narrator reminds me of Kirk from Gilmore Girls. :)

  • Outstanding press.

  • A nice recognition of the Church by one of America's most beloved politicians.

  • A wonderful and insightful recognition of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints by a honored and beloved Political Leader of the United States of America.

  • Great video!!

  • If you enjoyed this video, read "Presidents and Prophets." The relationship between various presidents and LDS prophets is very interesting. I really enjoyed the book. It detailed an interesting part of US History that you just never read about in history class.

  • Salt Lake did indeed blossom as the rose, didn't it? It is amazing what faith can do.

  • i love this clip! thank you.

  • WOW!!! I never knew that JFK visited the tabernacle and spoke positively towards The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This helps me feel even more respect for President Kennedy. I liked how he compared the Church to the United States and said that we can succeed where the Church succeeded. I believe this as long as we are united in the Lord's strength.

  • we need more clips like this to tell the true lds story

  • This was very informative, and reveals the high esteem that the Mormom Church is valued by leaders of the United States

  • Great Video!

  • The clip shows the willingness of the Latter-day Saints to work with others for the common good of people everywhere. A political figure and a Democrat at that, speaking from a place considered a sacred in the worship of God, says a lot. A picture is worth a thousand words and this clip a million more.

  • Great Documentary Clip!! Please make more of these.

  • "As the Mormans have succeeded, so shall Americans succeed" as long as we hold the same values.

  • It is nice to hear a leader (albeit and gone one...) recognize the LDS struggle and support us!

  • This was so cool. I had never heard this before and it was neat to hear Pres. Kennedy's words and be reminded of our great heritage, both as a Church and as a country.

  • Great! Such a good perspective for the current time.

  • Thank you for this post.

  • Great vid. We need to always elect men (or women) of faith into the Presidency.

  • Thank you for posting! This is so important to have the world understand what a beloved President of the United States felt about the LDS church and it's members! God Bless!

  • I was teaching a class of grade 5 students in Edmonton Alberta when the news came over the intercom that the President had been shot. A look of horror came over the faces of the students and some began to weep. What a sad day, as I watched the reaction of the boys and girls. All that afternoon we listened to the proceedings on a radio that was hooked up to the intercom. The question is why do we humans insist on killing each other. It is always a mystery to me.

  • I was eight years old and admired President Kennedy but didn't know this took place right in my home state. Thank you for posting so we can recall a memorable moment in SLC history.

  • I was there! I was a senior in high school. I'll never forget that day. It was thrilling to see President Kennedy in the Tabernacle & hear the Mormon Tabernacle Choir sing The Battle Hymn of the Republic! Thank you for posting this video!

  • Fantastic! Thank you so much for posting this video!

So glad to hear his voice and see his face again.! kudos

    to Pres Kennedy.

  • Thanks for the insight!

  • I am grateful to be an American and a Mormon! Faith in God, courage, and hard work are indeed true secrets to success!

  • I was in kindergarten. I remember President Kennedy's assassination. 12 years later I became a mormon. I believe Pres Kennedy was right. A lesson can be learned from the Mormons. More than ever I believe the hope of America lies in their hands. It builds character to sacrifice dearly for your faith. This has been my observation, and my personal experience. I contrast my experience before and after becoming LDS. I am proud to be an American-and my faith has exponentially grown my patriotism.

  • Two thumbs up.

  • This is great! It is inspiring to hear President Kennedy speak about the progress made by those of the Mormon faith. As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we recognize the divine hand of God in the finding of this land, America; and in the founding of this great nation, the United States of America. May we truly remember the great freedoms we have on this Fourth of July, 2008. May God continue to Bless America! And may we renew our faith in God and live by His word.

  • Very interesting.

  • cool.

  • I enjoyed this video. It was actually less than 2 months later that Pres. Kennedy was assasinated. We (the Mormons) have certainly come a long way since even 1963. Pres. Kennedy mentioned that we were a world-wide church -- but that's true even more so today. I know where I was when I found out that he'd been shot. I was in the 6th grade and in band playing my trumpet when the principal came in and told us. I remember teachers crying. Would that happen today if a President was killed?

  • God Bless the USA.

  • Wasn't crazy about his values but, my gosh, he certainly wasn't a Democrat when it came to defending this nation. God bless America, God bless George Bush. Vote Republican. Drill here, drill now, pay less!

  • Running for the presidency, Kennedy was persecuted not for his belief in his faith, but his association with the Catholic Church. He truly believed Lincoln's address at Gettysburg that "all men are created equal" and 3 months following this visit to Salt Lake he was assassinated for his belief in his church and his country. It's time the main stream media reports what's good in the Mormon community, and not that which makes the most sensational headlines. We haven't learned a thing in 45 years.

  • From economically stimulating tax cuts, to associating with the Mormons... are you sure this guy wasn't a "closet Republican"?

  • Extremely interesting. Thanks for sharing.

  • This guy knew the truth. If the Mormons can do it, so can the rest of the world.

  • Awesome! Even JFK wasn't "afraid" of the Mormons! So I guess our Nation has grown worse, rather than better, since so many seemed "afraid" of Mitt Romney! If everyone listened to JFK's words and understood that Mormon have what it takes to help this Nation succeed, then this Nation would indeed be renewed in hope and success!

  • I was just a little kid in 1963!

  • thats good i wish it was longer

  • great job
