Nice tribute... maybe you can make a documentary about the working conditions in apple factories as a next story, you know where workers commited suicide because of the working pressure ( slavery ) .
Jobs changed my life when I was in college in the late 90's and was suffering with my fucking Mac. I found solace in my new PC laptop. It changed my life. Was way cheaper to own a PC laptop, than those damn expensive Macs, which you had to be an engineer to keep those fuckers working correctly.
OK he was a good inventor but a huge gold digger as well and let's face it. Apple products are ridiculously expensive. Especially the computers where if for example you're looking at a computer for 1600e you can get a PC that's twice as fast for that same price. So don't take it personally people, it was just business..
@Niatuom You're serious right?Experience on a Mac?HAHA!Games?Where are they?Programs?Where are they? There are so much more programs for Windows than for the Mac. I'd rather pay my 1600e on a dragon of a PC than a fuckin' Mac.A PC is really worth it.Anything that becomes outdated you just swap.
Now don't get me wrong, i'm not hating on Steve or Apple. I love the IPad and the IPod but i fuckin' hate Macs.
Peace.
Don't mind the misspelled words i come from a country you don't know even exists.
@GeekBeatTV Not Only Your Life Is Changed,Even my Life Is Also Changed Duo To Steve Jobs Now I Am Expert In Computer Field And Internet And Hardware The Credit All Goes Only To Steve Jobs ...
As much as I hate Itunes....I love the Ipod Touch/Ipad combo , I find it a clunky and terrible peice of software.
But I cant deny how Jobs (and as you quite rightly said) all the Apple employees have created and defined how we shall use computers in out lives going forward, he made me want a music play , he made me want a video/games/restaurant/angry birds device...
Now I will never be able to give up the PC , macs arent really capable of doing what I need, but at home.....you have a fan. RIP
@twalker294 I just gave my personal opinion, which might differ from others'. Don't worry; I don't watch her, I just though the report might be interesting. Good day...
Awesome tribute to Steve. Thanks for doing this video. I have no idea how you managed to get through it without crying though. I was in tears watching it.
Hi Cali, Nice to hear your story. I didn't know how you got started. Your perspective siting the Mac Mini and iPod is unique compared to other tributes I've seen. Thanks.
@jaysenstudios I did NOT monetize it! We specifically kept ads OUT of this video because it wouldn't have been right. If you're talking about the YouTube ads - there is nothing I can do about those. YouTube does that on their own. But if you look at it on our website or on Revision3, you won't see anything. --Cali
Its not the ipod Video that changed the industry.
It is well known that there only three Apple devices that had a significant impact throughout the last 10 years.
- Ipod
- Iphone
- Ipad
As always, they release a revolutionary product and then release an enhanced version. So my point is, Ipod "Video" wasn't a big deal when compared to the First gen ipod, Iphone and Ipad
Cali, I really appreciate you posting this because Steve Jobs changed my life as well. For me the iMac got me looking at Apple products differently, & the ipod was the first Apple product I owned. I even wrote a blog on why I loved Apple products and how your post made me realize how portable video was a game changer for many of us (especially on youTube.) I wrote a paper on Mr. Jobs a few years ago because I found his humble beginnings so inspirational. In the tech world, Steve is # 1!
Wow nice video Cali! It was great hearing it because you were a huge influence in me making videos and a show about programming coming soon. Keep up the great work and make sure you love it or change it :)
Ik this is going to sound mean. I actually love the Ipod, but you know how Steve Jobs touched my life? He created what I call Ifags. I appreciate you MacUsers who know how to use computers, and maybe take them apart. Ifags on the other end have, on multiple occasions told me "What the hell is linux? Why aren't you using mac!?!" Because I have an opinion based on other things then just which is the most expensive. So steve, I thank you for my Ipod, but why mac?
@thepurplehippy Who cares if it sounds mean? Jesus Christ offending someone over the internet is like calling a deaf person a faggot. They won't hear you. They'll never know it was you.
Actually, I was worried about offending Steve... In a sense. I may be a die hard mac hater but I have a soul and I know he just died. Trust me. I am all for offending people over the internet. In fact, its a hobby of mine. On the other hand I dislike making fun of dead people.
Thank you all for the nice comments about the video. I have to say... this was the hardest show I've ever written!! Dave Curlee did a fantastic job with the editing. I was really nervous about "getting it right". :)
I think iPod 5th Generation ("iPod video") was secondary in importance. It was the concept of "podcasts" (which started out as audio-only) that was the difference maker. It was iTunes that made podcasting accessible and popular.
I remember watching you and your podcasts, when it was GeekBrief TV (and I don't think YouTube even existed yet). I did not own an iPod back then, except for a white shuffle, but I watched many video podcasts on my Mac.
I am an Android fan but I have to give credit where credit is due, Steve was one of the greatest minds of our time and I really think the world was and is a better tech place because of him. I will miss you Mr. Steve Jobs may you rest in peace and my thoughts go out to your family. Good bye friend :'(
What an awesome tribute to an amazing inspiration of the tech world! Steve will always have a place in our hearts and without him, we would not have had this awesome technology we have today.
This was a great tribute Cali and team. I still remember that modest beginnings you had with the iPod video release. Hard to think about that without thinking of Steve. For me personally he made a blind man see. Without the zoom functionality of the Mac OSX I would never enjoy computers or do what I do now without it. I'm going to miss him.
