If God is great enough to redeemed Saul of Tarsus, as he calls himself the "chief of sinners" surely no one is far at all from God's hand and heart.
This song has a bad rep because of what happened with Mike Guliemucci. But the reason this song is still great and why people are still getting healed is not because of the man that wrote it. Its because this song is based on the Word of God.
