@sufianrehan as far as i know. as long as you upgrade with the same chip name such as intel you should be fine. i have upgraded my computer's processor from a 1.8 ghz amd sempron to a 2.2 ghz amd athlon 64bit processor. its been running great for 5 years now.

@sufianrehan im not too sure if it will work as computers work diffrent from eachother. ive always heard that if you use the same processor type and the pins of the processor look the same with the new processor being faster. it might work. if my cheap compaq accepted a faster processor i imagine yours might too. my computer is also dual core upgradeable but its single core is doing fine. just be careful man. the processor is a very fragile unit as well as the motherboard. good luck

You shouldn't even overclock Desktop PCs with normal Stock-Coolers. You need a proper aftermarket cooler, and "How to prevent overheating Laptops" won't help you a fucking bit :)

@speedy20091 lol the sempron 140 is a single core 2.7ghz 1mb L2 cache 45W chip..your denab quad core is a 125W 6mb L3 cache chip..there is NO comparison. imagine the sempron as a pentium 4 and the phenom II x4 as.. say an i5. yours destroys any sempron even if you have a 5-6 running at the same time

the information about overclocking is vast, but in short, it causes damage to the processor by forcing the processor to do what it was NEVER designed to do directly from the manufactuirer, and furthermore, the manufacturer WILL NOT fix or repair problems under warrenty if overclocking seems to be what caused the problem in the first place. But do go out and get an older machine you could care less about and try overclocking it for practice, If you can overclock the hard way using Jumpers, wow!

@Morristpokemonn there are 2 reasons why you could be getting low fps in games. first you might have a realy bad GPU or graphics card which is hard to replace in a laptop which is why YOU GET A CASED COMPUTER AND NOT A F%#^KING LAPTOP. and second reason is that you might not have enough ram or hard drive space avalible. but not most of the time your processor isn't the problem in fps
