  • al alberts was a tough act to follow, we of that era were so lucky to have the 4aces, hilltoppers and other great groups, r.i.p. al you are very much missed.

  • Freddie Diodatti who replaced Al Alberts is a true professional. I met him in the '80s at The Varsity Club in Kansas City and was impressed by the groups integrity in their following the "score" for each member's part of the origional songs. I too am an Al Alberts fan but Freddie is an artist first, a businessman second, and I appreciate his faithfulness to the music. He sat down with me and explained how the "new" group was able to follow the songs as origionally interpreted.

  • i saw this on pbs! they had the greatest big bands there! awsome

  • No other group of that era had the sucess of the Four Aces. They set the standard for singing ballads that all other groups would follow. They are the only Singing Group that had 4of their million sellers used as the theme songs of popular movies. This video shows two of the original members. Al had retired at this time. Great sound from a legendary group. Ron

  • My gosh, how wonderful! I was barely a kid when I heard this song, Time gose by friend and my time may have gone by like the song, but it was splendid,

  • It's wonderful....I love this music ....since many years ago...

  • I'm starting a group next week and calling it The Beatles!!

  • EXCELLENT SINGING

  • They are still the Four Aces & they are fantastic!!!

  • this is not orig four aces!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Yes it is the Four Aces

  • this is NOT the Four Aces.

  • No your right its a BETTER four aces.

  • @uclagirls111 NO.

  • @markjroberts43 YEAH. fred diodatti is my grandfather. and im not just saying that hes better because he is my poppop but im saying it cause it is true!

  • Al Alberts died on Friday. He started this wonderful group which is still going strong today. He was great & so is this new one. He will be missed.

  • RIP Al Alberts.

  • Where's Al Alberts...noneof the others look familiar!!!

  • No originals in this group.

  • A classic. Thanks for sharing.

  • Beautiful. Just beautiful. Their bass singer was "Uncle Lou" to my girl-friend when I was a 17 year old kid. He gave me a Four Aces LP that I still have. In hindsight, he also gave me my first exposure to great music.

  • Rather have it dubed by the real four

    aces than these imitators. Stealing

the Alberts hit as if it was thiers. Just like

    the Elvis imitaters

  • Beautiful music and it's live not dubbed as many are.

  • Great, memorable

    Ed Bowen

  • not as good as the ORIGINAL Four Aces with Al Albers!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • That is simply not true.

  • I love you Harry

  • Just love this song. It brings tears to my eyes, especially since I've seen the movie and it's ending. True story and was great movie with William Holden. Knowing the story behind this song makes you appreciate it even more. Great song and movie!

  • love it,makes me cry,but then, all these songs make me cry,,oh shut up whinging for gods sake and enjoy the song,ah wheres my glass of vino,,sigh,,great stuff

  • Well, I'm a guy in my early 50's, and oh my God, when one of these songs comes up and I'm around company, I have to "yawn" frequently, and hide my tears....!

Women, like love are such a splendored thing -

Beautiful songs like this just make me cry... ! ; Wheres is MY glass of vino... :)

  • oh zenithbay, now YOU are making me cry,how romantic your words are,I would agree that us ladies are splendid creatures, and love is so hard to find thses days, yawn yawn yawn, but to love comes in thousends of ways,as long as you love something, like music, dogs, ect ect,you can still love, are you having red or white vino..:)

  • I agree with whoever said they do NOT sound the same without Al Alberts.

  • Love is a many splendored thing It's the April rose That only grows in the early Spring Love is natures way of giving A reason to be living The golden crown that makes a man a king Once on a high and windy hill In the morning mist Two lovers kissed And the world stood still Then your fingers touched my silent heart And taught it how to sing Yes, true love's a many splendored thing
  • lovely mikecat91,would not mind being on a windy hill now,in the morning mist being kissed, very rose mantic, lovely words to this song, well true love is a many splendor thing,,so they say,

  • this is my moms fav group

  • Four Aces have always been my favorite but with Al Alberts

  • The third #1 hit of the Rock era.

  • one of my favourite 'wheeling in' songs while sailing the oceans in the 60s.

  • In response to the earlier remark, Freddie did NOT start a new group...After Al left the group, Freddie was hired. Lou never left and after Sod and Dave left the group, two more singers Joe and Tony were brought on.

  • Al Alberts had a fabulous voice and was the sound of the Four Aces, these imitators, tho good, pale in comparison.

  • what a show..just lovely......thank you

  • good, but no Al Alberts

  • Not the origional "Four Aces". So, not Al Alberts on lead vocals. Does anyone have a video of the origionals? Sure been looking for one. Thanks for this one anyway.

  • wow... not bad for these "mature" guys...

  • what it's worth,the lead is al abert.thanks again

  • Acutally, Al left the group in 1956 and was

replaced by Fred Diodate. Fred is the person

singing with the "Four Aces" he put together

in the early 70's. I've seen them perform

twice in person, they sound wonderful! The

"Original Four Aces" with Al disbanded a

second time in the early 80's. Fred won a

court order allowing him to use the name

    the "Four Aces".

  • the best of thier time.saw them 50 years ago.thank you very much

  • A great Toronto group..St.Mikes I believe.

  • Great Toronto Group..St,Mikes
