I was thinking for a long time if i should read the series. When i started i couldnt stop. Right now i am on the third book and want to start the forth by tomorrow xD
@fOX5022 im only about half way through the fourth book and im loving it, i reckon if you feel up to it you should give this series a try.but just be prepared to be in for the long haul :)
@fOX5022 I've read the whole series three times over (and a few of the books more than that) and am going to do so again in time for A Memory of Light which, according to Orbit, is coming out in November of next year.
I can't believe that they are going to try and make a live action movie. If you want to do Robert Jordan justice they need to make this a CG animated TV series. It's the only way to keep from skipping details and really showing the true source. Just like Star Wars did for the clone wars, except a little more adult oriented
@BaileyForLife I think a live action movie is a great idea. Or even a series. They made a TV Series out of the Vampire Diaries & Game of Thrones. But not CGI -- that could prevent viewers from really getting into it.
Whenever you adapt a book for something, details will be skipped. It's a fact of life; everything is not SUPER important. I'm excited for a movie, but a TV series would be fun (provided it's live action. The only problem with this is that TV shows usually have a smaller budget...
I've always imagined Faile hotter, Aviendha needs to have much shorter brown hair. I think Egwene should have shorter hair (I'm not being racist but why is Tuon black and why does she have hair?). Gareth Bryne, Logain, Thom, Rand and Moiraine are perfect though... brilliant artwork.

i love this version for Perrin because he has the muscles that is explained in the book without having a mean look. i love the character but could never seem to place him in a suitable boddy, it always became either to weak or to bodybuilderlike.
Perhaps my facts are wrong I've just finished the first book, but I thought Jordan disturbed Mat big in the middle of the story. Perhaps it was Perrin or something.

I love all the drawings, even if I don't know who the character is. I imagine them all a little different, but it's all the discretion of the artist.

I really love all those books of wheel of time... it's just.. it doesn't fit the image of the characters that i expected/ imagined from these sketches .. Anyway, i really love reading the books.. i enjoyed it a lot.. Robert Jordan is one of a kind.. One of my favorite authors.. good job
I dunno why, but Faile has always been my favorite woman in the series. The other women are either drop-dead gorgeous (Elayne, Aviendha, Berelain, Lanfear, etc.) or homely (Satelle Anan, Verin, etc.) or scary bitchy (Elaida, Moghedien, etc.). Faile is realistic... strong personality with physical flaws (big nose, wide mouth), but a good person and kinda hot.. I think Zita Gorog should play her if they ever do a live-action series (played Amelia in Underworld). Google her.
hehehe i thinks its best to play by the imaginations in ones own head while one reads, noene of these matched my view, except maybe just a little bit Mat, and a liiittle bit the Tairen soldier.

rands behavior in general is perfectly understandable lol he knows hes going to break the world, and going to be responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths, he thinks he needs to be cold hearted to do what needs to be done to, idk i think its pretty reasonable.
Yes well, I've finally finished the series...or, at least gotten up to date now. I have to say, I stopped hating rand at some point in book 8, maybe 9. I actually do agree with you now.
This is one of the best series ever written! I feel so alive when reading these books. I feel all the magic of WOT world! I recommend this series of books to everyone. :)
I am just now learning about this universe and I feel that the magic it posses wouldn't really work if you filmed it. I want to be a filmmaker but the idea of taking this scope and these legends almost seem impossible. I agree with dannyoffbeat that an animated series would be good just because in animation time and detail can be exaggerated and specifics can be heightened for the overall visual in take. However in the end I feel RJ would agree listening to the audio books would do the same.
I read the first book and I don't think I'll be reading the others. 1) Rand is kind of a Gary Stu (taller, more handsome, stronger in magic, gets three love interests who agree to share him) 2) Nynave is a petty, abrasive cunt 3) Most of the factions are so willing to slit each others' throats that a "dark one" isn't that necessary to the story, just lock them in the same room and they'll kill eatch other off in a minute 4) Jordan tends to go on and on about details that have no real relevance.

I couldn't read the names and words very well on my iPhone. In response to some of the comments that Rand is rude to moraine. He has been played by women throughout the series. They all think they know what is best for him. The kidnapping by elaidas bunch soured him on aes sedai for good.
This series is great in my opinion, and seeing the characters portrayed like this really helped me understand them more.
Also, do some of you come back to these comments everyday to check what someone has said about your comment? I could almost understand if you knew each other, but this is kinda ridiculous.

On another note, I'd like to see the main characters of the series struggle more, and maybe actually lose a few times. Everything seems too easy for them, imo.

His treatment of Moiraine is despicable, and it doesn't help that i had spoiled to me what happens to her later in the book.. GOD! If he doesn't die on Tarmon Gai'don I'll be so frickin' pissed! Matrix answer? Lol, he's just Lews Therin Telamon, the Reborn Dragon. So he got like this Lews Therin inside his head telling him to do stuff (Okey, this was hard to explain in english xD I'm norwegian :P ) So he pretty much do alot of stuff before he even know he's doing it, like in The Stone (Is that correct?) in Rift when he kills all the 'Trollocs(?)' and 'Myrdraals(?)' with one weaving, he didnt know what he did. He just unleashed his saidin. :P

Though not always. He is himself. Not simply a pure reincarnation; which is why he had to readup his history/weaves and the like, in Tear...so, is he only then L.T when the plot demands it? Like, in battle? If so, that's kinda cheap.
A thought: Wasn't Rand taking on Trollocs in the first book, near the end? I think by doing so, makes them less scary/dangerous; and by the second book, Eyeless aren't really dangerous; then quickly falls the rest of the badguys.
And in no way is it "pure epic" and if you think it is, you must not read alot of fantasy.
Also, you didn't comment on the fact that it is almost laughable that the hero, in around 2yrs, suddenly becomes better, stronger, faster than everyone else.

There are many heroes in this series, and non of them just suddenly becuse "better" or "faster" as you claim it. Rand is the Dragon reborn, so you can say he has his weaving and sword skills from him. But not all good things comes from Lews, he drives Rand mad. You should read the book, or maybe you have understand it wrong. Alot of the Answers can be found in the books. A well writen book indeed

Yes, when compared to the Orig Bond series, it is, by far.
Also, what Borne does is maybe extreme here and there----which he more often than not pays for physically, but still, his actions are in no way superhuman and far within the realm of what real special ops people are trained to do.
Again though, how much time has passed over the total series...2yrs?

But i guess we are not all the same, while you like harry potter, Twilight or Son of a Witch or whatever, we other like good awesome books like The wheel of time =)
Popularity doesn't make a story great...it just makes it sell well.
Cause, if popularity did make things great, than Twilight and all sorts of other pulp, would be considered an awesome read; instead, its simply a best seller---which isn't the same thing.
Also, WOT is built upon iconic themes, so yes, the Themes are Epic, but this layout, well, lacks alot over the long run.
The main area it lacks, is the childish relationship between characters of a different sex.
I have to agree with Willdrake. It doesn't make sense for Egwene, Nyneave, Elayne, Rand, etc. To have gotten so good in just 2 years time. I like the books(so far) but that one thing annoys me.
honestly i dont think the wheel of time should end up as a movie, but as a cartoon series. its such a long series I couldn see it as a movie since they would take off so many great details of the story.
@dannyoffbeat While I am sure it would be cool as an animated series. I want nothing more than to see this wheel of time universe come to life! Yes, they would indeed cut out great portions of the books, but they do that for all of the ones that make it from the pages to the screen.
You have to understand that there are a lot of us that would jones for the new books for months before they came out. Even we would understand if they cut out portions, its to be expected.
Perhaps a bit too stylized but still very good drawings. Whether they match exact perceptions from person to person notwithstanding, the general emotions and personalities come across accurately.
Rand: agree Mat: no Perrin: to old.. Egwene no Ninaeve, i agree Moraine: its more beautifull in my mind.. Tom: eh? Min: is ok Pada Fain: lol i agree Galaf: yes Faile: to old.. ok most of the rest pictures are well maked but not fit the real book descriptions.

I am in the middle of the third book right now and tWoT is one of the best series I've ever read, if not the best. I wonder if Lan is going reclaim Malkier, but I'd bet his fate is to die protecting Moiraine. Oh, and I DO hope that Egwene ends up marrying Rand, otherwise Robert Jordan, may he rest in eternal peace, would seriously piss me off.
Sorry to dissapoint but , from what I have read, and this is a SPOILER, so stop reading now. Egwene and Rand really don't go together yet Jordan plays it off very well and makes it easy to see why. I enjoy this approach because now it adds a bit of mystery to the romance aspect of WOT
I'm actually just starting the third book, while I wouldn't call it the best series I've read I am really enjoying myself. Personally I'm actually hoping Rand and Egwene don't get married :P

I am just now learning about this universe and I feel that the magic it posses wouldn't really work if you filmed it. I want to be a filmmaker but the idea of taking this scope and these legends almost seem impossible. I agree with dannyoffbeat that an animated series would be good just because in animation time and detail can be exaggerated and specifics can be heightened for the overall visual in take. However in the end I feel RJ would agree listening to the audio books would do the same.

I read the first book and I don't think I'll be reading the others. 1) Rand is kind of a Gary Stu (taller, more handsome, stronger in magic, gets three love interests who agree to share him) 2) Nynave is a petty, abrasive cunt 3) Most of the factions are so willing to slit each others' throats that a "dark one" isn't that necessary to the story, just lock them in the same room and they'll kill eatch other off in a minute 4) Jordan tends to go on and on about details that have no real relevance.

I couldn't read the names and words very well on my iPhone. In response to some of the comments that Rand is rude to moraine. He has been played by women throughout the series. They all think they know what is best for him. The kidnapping by elaidas bunch soured him on aes sedai for good.

I must say, I hate Rand with every fiber of my being. I'm only on book 5, but still. It's getting hard to stand! His treatment of Moiraine is despicable, and it doesn't help that i had spoiled to me what happens to her later in the book.. GOD! If he doesn't die on Tarmon Gai'don I'll be so frickin' pissed! I want to see him SUFFER!

Yea, I hate him too since the whole series, thus far, has only taken 2yrs and some months to play out----with 3000yrs of history. Seems like a weak climax/payoff.
Everything leading up to the end took so long and yet it will be fixed in the equiv of a weekend.
Atleast Luke had to train.
This guy just is all powerful from the get go.
Tell me? Why didn't say, a handful of the Forsaken take a day or two to track him down and kill him...and if not 2, as many as it would take?

Very nice - tho I wish it was in HD to make the pictures clearer. Im reading (actually listening to) the whole bookseries now. Its certainly among the best fantasy litterature I have come across yet. Its a wonder I never tried it before now. currently on 4'th book and loving every chapter :)

Matrix answer? Lol, he's just Lews Therin Telamon, the Reborn Dragon. So he got like this Lews Therin inside his head telling him to do stuff (Okey, this was hard to explain in english xD I'm norwegian :P ) So he pretty much do alot of stuff before he even know he's doing it, like in The Stone (Is that correct?) in Rift when he kills all the 'Trollocs(?)' and 'Myrdraals(?)' with one weaving, he didnt know what he did. He just unleashed his saidin. :P

Though not always. He is himself. Not simply a pure reincarnation; which is why he had to readup his history/weaves and the like, in Tear...so, is he only then L.T when the plot demands it? Like, in battle? If so, that's kinda cheap.
A thought: Wasn't Rand taking on Trollocs in the first book, near the end? I think by doing so, makes them less scary/dangerous; and by the second book, Eyeless aren't really dangerous; then quickly falls the rest of the badguys.

You know why I'm not impressed by the WOT.
Its yet another story, where some guy, in just over 2yrs, becomes more powerful than everyone else---many of who are thousands of years old.
This is the type of story, which professes training, and time (like Star Wars) except when it comes to the hero.
Its just lame.

@willdrake1 caster and magic? its called channelers and weaving. And like Mierinable said below, Rand is actually Lews Therin Telamon. Rand is the Dragon reborn, so you can say he has his weaving and sword skills from him. But not all good things comes from Lews, he drives Rand mad. You should read the book, or maybe you have understand it wrong. Alot of the Answers can be found in the books. A well writen book indeed

Yes, when compared to the Orig Bond series, it is, by far.
Also, what Borne does is maybe extreme here and there----which he more often than not pays for physically, but still, his actions are in no way superhuman and far within the realm of what real special ops people are trained to do.
Again though, how much time has passed over the total series...2yrs?
As I said, Matrix download makes for an easy explanation, but doesn't make for great or EPIC story telling. Maybe sales.

Popularity doesn't make a story great...it just makes it sell well.
Cause, if popularity did make things great, than Twilight and all sorts of other pulp, would be considered an awesome read; instead, its simply a best seller---which isn't the same thing.
Also, WOT is built upon iconic themes, so yes, the Themes are Epic, but this layout, well, lacks alot over the long run.
The main area it lacks, is the childish relationship between characters of a different sex.

You have to understand that there are a lot of us that would jones for the new books for months before they came out. Even we would understand if they cut out portions, its to be expected.

I am in the middle of the third book right now and tWoT is one of the best series I've ever read, if not the best. I wonder if Lan is going reclaim Malkier, but I'd bet his fate is to die protecting Moiraine. Oh, and I DO hope that Egwene ends up marrying Rand, otherwise Robert Jordan, may he rest in eternal peace, would seriously piss me off.
