It`s a shame that it looks like 90% of the people watching this don`t know what it is they are looking at, or the difference between the form and fighting technique, to watch these forms then make assumptions of the fighting abilities of the masters is beyond stupid and shows real ignorance of real kung fu which believe me you are not gonna find out from google, youtube or any book.
Old school baby, when martial artists acted like martial artists. When things like honor, humility, courage, compassion, empathy, justice and knowledge mattered. These guys would train themselves for life, not just in martial training but spiritual and mental training as well, reading philosophy, art, religion, science, medicine etc. These guys judged others by their character not by how much money they have or what car they drive. These dudes are my heroes, not some overpaid mma meat-head.
@LovelesOne Unfortuneatly, the pacifist nature of 'true martial artists' makes them humble by nature. Since they do not go out of their way to beat their own drums, it has led to the mistaken belief that traditional styles are useless.
This is a friends meeting . Where they can show each other there unique style of Kung fu ( exercise ) . Too bad you fat people meet up for alcohol, drug and bitches.
and one last thing! you mma idiots only know how to grapple but you have no idea about striking. i mean u guys hav no idea what youre talking here! honestly you kickboxers can never defeat these masters. you have more muscles thats for sure but u've got brains!!!!
@Evensong4001 that doesnt mean that its always that kickboxers can defeat kung fu people. there r many cases i have seen myself that kung fu masters hav also defeated muay thai practioners. in kung fu you rarely use knees n elbows. but there one of the styles in shaolin boxing that uses both knees n elbows. one of the shaolin monk is master hui neng who has defeated all lamas, the japanese fighters and thai fighters. and also Huo Yuan Jia the kung fu champion. therefore depends on practitioners
@Hanoshiro In literally every combat tournament that has ever been documented, the Kung Fu guys were bested by Muay Thai. There's even a book by some Chinese guy who mentioned all these losses and the reason behind it (with actual pictures from the tournament).
If you can show me a single video of a Kung Fu practitioner beating a high level Thai fighter, I'd believe that Kung Fu does indeed have its application.
@Evensong4001 yeah there was a video where it shows in china. the sanda kung fu practitioners who have defeated muay thai fighters. but im unable to open that. it says that the video is inappropriate for the users. besides im a kung fu-karate practitioner and i have a lot of street fighting experiences. i have been beaten up by thai fighters but at the same time i have also defeated many thai boxers. mma fighters and also taekwondo fighters. i am talking kung fu as superior because i have....
@Hanoshiro No offense, but you saying you are an experienced fighter is not proof. I can similarly say I am an experienced Thai kickboxer and have defeated many Kung Fu fighters.
I simply haven't seen any Kung Fu fighter use his/her skills to defeat a high level kickboxer. Of course it depends on the fighters themselves, but at high level Kung Fu is just not that efficient.
@Evensong4001 im sorry to say that i have no proof because i cant show any video of my street fighting and also i have defeated many kick boxers. im not any mma or thai boxing practitioner but even then i have managed to defeat them. i have been practicing since i was 9 or 10 years and kung fu has also helped me beat high level fighters. i have used my kung fu against high level fighters. and beaten them in street fights also i have been in mma and full contact tournaments and i have beaten many
@Evensong4001 besides youre talking abt kung fu fighters not superior. there is also lots of biographies abt an old shaolin monk who was an expert in shaolin chuan fa(aka shorinji kenpo in japanese) who has defeated muay thai fighters. and also master shi yan lei and master shi yan ming themself have cultivated kung fu to a very higher level and the evidences is also found that they can defeat kick boxers though they havent been into challenges because they r monks.
@Hanoshiro also you may have not heard about li shu wen. he isnt much known cuz he was a traveller. thyough he wasnt a shaolin kung fu fighter but a taoist kung fu which was a bit similar to shaolin kenpo called ba ji quan. history says that li shu wen was the most powerful in china during the time of communist party(i.e. mao tse tung). in his record he was the best sphere practitioner and also he never lost even a single fight. he defeted all the challengers in his life nd never lost any fight
@Evensong4001 Yes, that is very true. People can talk and write blogs all they want but it does not make it truth. Hence why I prefer debating with action rather then words. Are you in Aus Evensong? If you are, I invite you to come to physically debate with me. Or if you prefer I can come to you. If that sounds a bit intimidating, please have a look at my vids and you can see that I'm just a softie useless taichi guy and you'll walk all over me easy right?
@benngearthquake Unfortunately, I'm not in Aus. And I'd like to say that I'm some elite level kickboxer where I live (because everyone says that on the internet), truth is I'm not. But you don't have to be a fighter to be able to tell what works or what doesn't, and even though I've been involved in quite a few fights, I'm certainly not a 'fighter', because a fighter typically fights a lot.
@Evensong4001 I disagree. People who have different level of skill and combat experience will view things differently. Sometimes what looks useless is more then meets the eye, and those who have been on the receiving end learn not to be so quick to judge. Even if you are a elite kickboxer, that will only qualify you to criticise other kickboxers, unless of course you have defeated the elite of every other style of Kung Fu.
@benngearthquake "People who have different level of skill and combat experience will view things differently"
When I talked about judging a martial art, I meant by means of empirical results.
Statistically speaking, styles like Kung Fu have had little to no success against the more practical martial arts like wrestling, boxing, kickboxing etc. I'm talking about high level competition.
@Evensong4001 I give very little value to sports competition results as a means to judge a style, as they do not simulate real combat. In life, there are no rules on where you can or can't hit your opponent, what you can or can't grab, etc. I had sent students into tournaments before, but they get warnings and disqualifcations for doing what they were trained to do; win a fight. In real life, there is no ref to save you, no nice padded ground for BJJ /MMA guys to roll around on.
You are not the first one to claim that. There is a plethora of incidents, statistics and reasoning to the contrary. Those who fare well in competitions are likely to fare well in a no-holds bared environment as well.
To fix your statement, in a real fight situation (which is actually very close to MMA fights), there would be no-ref to save your average street fighter from a decorated professional MMA fighter [contd]
@benngearthquake As for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, its practitioners have time and again proved its effectiveness in combat. The no-holds barred Vale Tudo competitions in Brazil had long been dominated by BJJ guys. Both the US law enforcement bodies and the navy seals, realizing its efficiency, undertake BJJ. I believe it would be very ignorant to say that the army, cops and no holds barred fighters don't reflect real combat situations.
@Evensong4001 The military and law enforcement are not looking to teach their members 'an art' but something simple that takes little time to learn or intelligence to grasp that could save their life. Good thing they carry tazers and rifles.
@benngearthquake The military teach their members pure warfare, the instill in them the skills to survive against an equally prepared enemy. Weakness would mean death. Of course they carry rifles, but they are equally capable of hand-to-hand combat as well.
Are you suggesting that a traditionalist (who hardly ever spars and whose discipline is notorious for not producing results) can defeat a war veteran who the military makes sure can fight to the best of his ability?
While engaging in the most real and deadly form of combat possible...as opposed to your average traditionalist who neither actively seeks competition nor ever been subjected to anything remotely close to combat, whilst training for those 'spectacular' acrobatics that has no value in terms of self defense.
@benngearthquake It is true that some people might not immediately grasp the application of certain techniques and write them off as ineffective, having observed many different disciplines pitting their skills against each other, your personal skills are no longer an issue. Most critics of martial arts (and sports in general) often never directly partake in the sport.
There is nobody to my knowledge who has defeated every Kung Fu style, but that doesn't affect the statistics.
@Evensong4001 Those who do not takepart in martial arts have no business criticising martial artists. Unfortuneatly in this day and age, people can say what they want without consequences for insulting people who don't deserve it. Noticed that I have never said one word against kickboxing or Muay Thai or any other style that I have not trained in or have beated the best of myself. I hope that you can learn some curtesy from my example, as I can't teach you some manners in person.
@benngearthquake "Those who do not takepart in martial arts have no business criticising martial artists"
That is a subjective pov, and in my opinion, not necessarily. If they know what they're talking about and can reason appropriately while substantiating their claims, then I find it is unreasonable to condemn them from arguing by saying "I just know more than you!".
@Evensong4001 No, its more a matter of curtesy. Just as I can discipline my own children for their own good, but it is wrong for me to discipline the children of others without their guardian's consent. I have the right to make critiques to make Traditional Training more applicable and realistic, but you as an outsider do not. If you have earned the respect of a practitioner and they ask you for your opinion, then you have the right to give your opinion, which is not the case here.
@Evensong4001 The fact that you don't intend to remedy the traditional arts to improve the development of future practitioners is why I take issue with you. This clip is a celebration of traditional MA and it has no hostilities towards Muay Thai or kickboxing, yet here you are putting the boot in. Its like going to someone's party and splashing a drink in their face. Being a representative of traditional arts, of course it affects me!!! It is my duty to defent it.
@benngearthquake I am helping those practitioners in my own way, by pointing them in the direction which they will know for sure will bear fruit. Why spend time revamping the entire art, when the required result has already been achieved in modern competitions.
I know they have no hostility towards Muay Thai. I never said that. And yes, being a good person is more beneficial to the society than being a good fighter (not to say, though, that good fighters aren't good people). What's your point?
@benngearthquake My initial response was to the person who said kickboxers would never beat 'these' masters, when history and the footage itself hints the opposite. I merely pointed out some facts, so yes, I'm guilty of speaking the truth.
It's not like crashing someone's party, more like giving a reality check to people who are deliberately deluding themselves because of their emotional attachment to the art [contd]
@benngearthquake Take you, for instance, you're claiming to 'defend' your art, yet you're doing that not by directly addressing my claims but rather attempting to dissuade me from doing whatever I'm doing. You're not willing to assess the validity of my claims, you're only worried that it makes your art look bad. Ironically, this is the same reaction that Bruce Lee had to endure when he first realized (the hard way) that the 'traditions' were flawed.
I meant directly affect you. You can simply choose to ignore me and be not affected at all, but you don't, so that doesn't count as me directly affecting you.
You imply that I insult them with your subtle threats. I disagree. In my view, respect needs to be earned. I'm merely critiquing based on the statistical evidence of their failure to produce results in terms of actual combat.
I actually respect traditionalists in that they highly value their ethics and morals...
@Evensong4001 Again, without references, statistical claims have no value. You claim to respect traditionalists for their ethics and morals, yet here you are spitting on their life's work and showing them very little of that respect.
@benngearthquake I'm not very receptive to your emotional appeals that 'it's their life's work', I'm more concerned with results. If somebody spent their life on something mundane then why should I respect that work?
I know they are good people of pacifist nature, and that is something I respect. I respect them as a person, but not as a fighter. Same reason I don't respect Kanye West as an environmentalist.
@Hanoshiro I was talking about the popular Kung Fu that the monks etc practice, not Sanda (which, I believe, combine elements of kickboxing and wrestling).
@benngearthquake References to these tournaments were also made by Bob Wall, an acquaintance of Bruce Lee. In fact, Bruce himself was critical of the traditional martial arts (Black Belt).
@Evensong4001 I never thought much of Bruce either. People should remember that his skills had traditional martial arts as their source, multiplied by his intense work ethic. No one can deny that Bruce's classical martial arts training was the major contributor to his level of skill, as much as he wanted to critique. While Bruce had tried to make a short cut system with JKD, but none of his students have reached his level of skill.
@benngearthquake IMO, Bruce's legend has been exaggerated. He was primarily a combat philosopher and his theories were ahead of his time.
But he was no fighter, and his so-called 'skill' is a myth. The guy has like a total of 2 documented fights (one of which he probably lost). The other one was against a no-named guy.
So I find it rather ironic when people talk about his so called combat prowess.
besides you mma fighters here have never heard of shaolin grappling havent you? you idiots! i have obsereved very carefully that these grappling techniques r very dangerous to use. that is why our ancestral masters of kung fu had forbidden the fighters from learning shaolin grappling n also do u know hung hsi kuan? he was a revolutionary who fought against manchus. he was a tiger style expert n he was the best when it comes to grtappling around the whole of china. n i have seen tiger style grap.
annd one more thing to those idiots who disliked this video. chinese kung fu is traditional. so what the hell if its traditional there isnt anything difference between these fighters. i myself as a shaolin boxing and a karate practitioner i have defeated many of those kick boxing fighters in some of the international tournaments. and besides you have no idea what kung fu karate fighters are all about. after defeating kick boxers i was able to realize easily that you kick boxers only fight
ahah this is the real chinese kung fu. you said these were revolutionaries who escaped from china isnt it? then im sure that these are really very powerful masters because they were the ones who fought against their cruel leaders. and besides whoever didnt like this video are ignorant fools and dont know anything about fighting. they have zero knowledge about the art of fighting and they only know how to fight sportively.

Wow, that was very cool. I like how it seems like they're all just sitting around having tea (is that a table with tea in the back?) with their suits and dress shoes and then BAM off come the jackets and they start busting-out these great moves. I love the older gentleman at the end. Also liked the self-defence joint-lock technique one of the guys demonstrated on the other. Anyone know the story behind this vid?
Kung Fu and CMA practitioners should just focus on Athletics particularly high jump and pole vault. You will set unbreakable records with your flying King Fu jins. Forget about fighting. Kung Fu and CMA sucks at fighting.
@101ers77 another loudmouthed hater. ur messages are nothing but junk. every kung fu style is unique, their only the same in ur narrow mind. some styles closely resembles karate for example and few even have ground fight methods, if u think karate or japanese styles is somehow better just know it's all copied from different kung fu styles. boxing then is a reduced sport which has little to do with martial arts. kung fu styles has proven their effectiveness in REAL life situations several times
Kung Fu sucks. The fact that the more than a billion Chinese all over the world not having produced a single boxing or MMA world champion only proves this art is fake.
@choyleefutkid1 whatever you say man stick with a one dimensional view all your life if you really want. do yourself a favour and go spar with a bjj guy, see what happens.
@123UncleRuckus ppl dont understand, alot of gong fu style have ground game n we eliminate ppl in the ground n up, we wouldnt get taken down first, second i have i beat that dude up ,third we rolled n he couldnt submit me i couldnt submit him i mean i think defense is better then offense. so go crawl back into ur lame mma world.
@123UncleRuckus i grapple with this high school wrestle as well, he trained mma as well i beat that nigga hahaha real martial artist always beats lame "mma" guys. u lack in knowledge i bet ur white
@choyleefutkid1 didn't know what my race had to do about this. so you're saying your kung fu knowledge, which i assume is choy lee fut considering your name, could beat an mma fighter. thats truly laughable.
questions, has kung fu kept these people alive or are they dead? What has kung fu ever done that is good for you? Your time on Earth is quick and life as you know it is changing. In fact the world is changing to a point where in 20-30 years most countries will be Islamic. Satans religion will reign and what will kung fu do for you, nothing! Check out Gods word (Bible), his word walked amongst us, died for us, gives us everlasting life, gives us a direct connection to the real God, a loving God.
@Udruit you might as well ask your country's military to stop training and start praying. what have combat skills ever done for your people? that's the logic of your argument. some of the dumbest people in the world are religious zealots like you, throwing all common sense out the window at the first mention of God and doomsday prophecy. go fuck yourself. seriously, you human garbage, go fuck yourself
china has all kind of evil things, so many death camp, secret police, etc etc,,,,,,,china is most hell place in the world, communist kill their against people without any permission necessary, chinese communist party killed historical amount of people, china is perfectly lawless zone for anythings
I have never seen this type of kung fu work in a real fight, in fact, it would seem comical. Like just imagine anyone of these guys fighting like that against Anderson Silva in the UFC. lolz
@marcmody Real Kung fu will never be seen on any video, no authentic kung fu has ever been filmed. The REAL practitioners would never allow it to be filmed, they train for decades to kill in one hit. These people are "wishy washy" kung fu and would be decimated by any real brawler. This is an art form, not a combat form. REAL kung fu has no form and the first block or attack is designed to break what ever it hits. That is real kung fu, really thats REAL any form of true combat or style.
@iJigglypuff y'guys aren't Chinese I s'pose. Well, even most Chinese themselves don't understand Kung fu, not being racist but I'll tell you what it really is. Kung fu is not a special skills to win a fight, it's just a form of movement you make into your habit each time you fight. Just coz one learns let's say white crane fist doesn't mean he can't hit like an mma boxer. if he uses even some moves in white crane, it means he's using kung fu. this is a common misunderstanding many have.
@iJigglypuff Kung Fu wasn't anything special. To us, back in those days, we saw it in the same way you currently see your own form of western boxing. It's nothing special. Except that we focus more on making it a form of habit with each time we fight so we don't have to think as we fight. Kung fu doesn't necessarily kill in 1 hit. Let's put it this way. Kung fu simply means "fighting" (although it doesnt translate to that). There were plenty who did kung fu just to show off. It's kung fu too lol
@plovakia agree with most of your points. first off, kung fu was originally invented by a monk as a form of exercise to keep his disciples healthy n strong so they don't fall asleep while praying. eventually it evolved into various forms of kung fu we see today. unfortunately most of them are impractical for real fighting. but the point of practising these arts still remains true: making yourself healthier and stronger so you'll have an advantage in a fight
@austinsavage Are you kidding? Really? Damo invented kung fu? Mate, when the Chinese say "Shaolin is root of all kung fu", the Chinese person saying it is either ignorant, or saying it to promote Shaolin. Wushu existed LONG before the Shaolin monastery was even an idea in Emperor Xiaowen's mind.
@Clown7916 what i said about the origin of kungfu comes from books and documentaries, not my own opinion. and that Bodhidharma invented kung fu is a popular accepted theory. the chinese saying "Shaolin is the root of all kung fu" is an old saying. i'm not saying it's true, but common sense dictates that if it didn't have a grain of truth, the Chinese won't be spouting it every chance they get. unless u think they're all dumb. anyway, thanks for an interesting new perspective on kung fu's origin
i think in the old days not many people practise martial arts so we hear tonnes of stories where kung fu masters kick ordinary folks' ass. most of these are probably true. but today a lot of us are exposed to one martial art or another, so these 'masters' are no longer the bad ass they used to be. i wouldn't say they are 'exposed', but more like the bar has been raised and those who stick to traditional arts can't keep up
@austinsavage Sry but that's not how it was in China. China was a very tough country full of barbarians and bad guys. Everyone had to learn to fight for their survival. There were more martial artist back then compared to now
@plovakia agree with what you said. my point is, kung fu is meant to promote good health as much as fighting skills. most ppl dismiss kung fu as useless just because it's not as straightforward as boxing/muay thai. but that's a mistake coz there are kung fu techniques & drills that are useful in real fights, ie, Bruce Lee got his speed and coordination from wing chun and he admitted as much
@austinsavage youve scratched the surface of the truth but the fact is that kung fu movements are almost all useful for combat if you can figure out how. It was once said that every label(movement) in a form has at least three applications(striking range, trapping range, grappling range) and thats the minimum. Problem is so many martial artists got lost in the forms and didn't think to look beyond them as any good school teaches at some point. Live and train well .
@austinsavage thanks man and a further note to you, the problem isnt traditional vs modern because modern in this case simply means newer, not better. The problem is finding (if this is what you want) finding a traditional school that as I said, goes beyond the forms after a point. Hope your day finds you well man.
@austinsavage And yes, I agree, the standard for wushu has dropped stupendously in China. This is due to many factors, including the invention of guns by the west, invasion of China by foreing powers in the 20th century, Crazy Mao Zedong's hatred of his own country's culture (i.e. the Cultural Revolution), and the invention of crappy contemporary wushu (i.e. performance wushu with little to no self-defence applicability).
@iJigglypuff You worship wushu too much. Chinese wushu practitioners are not gods. Plenty of good masters filmed their style, sold it, packaged it and promoted it. It's true, many of the best martial artists in China were, in my opinion, poor people. But that's only because they had to work ridiculously hard to make even a meagre living. You bet they'd film their style! No one wants to be poor!
Futhermore, videos of your style can act as good records for reference.
@iJigglypuff Furthermore, no, these guys are good. If you watch enough people doing wushu forms, you can see who knows what they are doing, has a good grasp of their style, and knows how to apply the technique effectively. The people in this video know their shit.
What you describe as 'wishy washy' kung fu is more likely to be found in contemporary wushu, an attempt by the Chinese government to weaken it's own people, and second-rate and third-rate wushu schools in the west.
Yes definitely Northern Styles repped here .. I did notice a couple of Northern Mantis forms .. fast hands...
- Does it really matter how it looks? Different strokes for different folks.
- But just to be clear, KF FORMS are for Demonstations, cultivating speed/balance/strength, and for the preservation of the essence of each style (cultural). NOT FOR FIGHTING. But they will help you become a great fighter
- Real KF fighting is much more sublte and very dangerous (judo/boxing rules limit)
Rock on... one has to take notice of their balance and agility not mentioning tghe power...that is why they are called "old masters"...just one of blows was designed and set up to f*** shit up... eyes, testicles, throat, ribs...it didn't matter.... sure, the forms may look comical, but its showboating, or perhaps a short glimpse of the ways the old master was gonna f*** shit up, and more importantly what the opponent had to be dealing with really soon...
This looks a lot like what people do at raves. I think I do the same when I'm in a good mood and I've got some music on. It's not the same as taking boxing lessons, but it's got to be at least somewhat useful for self-defense - in the same way that juggling would be.
Hes a worthless stupid and apparently racist piece of trash. You all know to whom I'm referring just ignore him. delete anything he sends you and stop try to talk to the troll.
bastion he will do this crap for years n learn nothing....his answers are retarded. can wing chun beat mma? could Sonny Liston have beat helio gracie at Judo? could Helio.have beaten him in a boxing ring? no....different arts tools for different jobs. when fighting for real, for your life or that of others sport combat will not be as effective. wheres krav maga in ufc? id love to see a gracie against that.in a real fight. ill keep training kommisar, you keep trolling.
Sorry, your analogies are totally shit, just like your "art". The Gracies only challenged grapplers to grappling matches. When it came to guys like boxers, it was to vale tudo fighting. This is exactly where KF can be tested: limited-rules fights where they are allowed to use the same silly "techniques" you see in this video on someone else who is not trained in their bogus "art" but who is just as willing to kick their ass. The Gracies would kick your ass either way though.
some people have no purpose accept to bark like a dog....sad. lets just negative out kommisar anytime we see him post. Fucking worthless piece of shit keyboard warrior is nothing but some fucking jock who wants martial arts to be as basic as he is. I've seen this asshole talk shit for years so you know what? I challenge all of you. Please put a clamp on this buffoon by thumbs downing him into forced silence. He doesnt deserve a voice on the subject.
with regard the very average gracie heritage in Judo..thats what they do not JJ...look up Kimura. Also see Banned for steroid use to defeat Sakuraba. catch wrestling is the most successful style in the sport...it is a sport and thats all.
for all you normal people kommisar is a fat kid who believes that a competition owned by the gracies to show how good their judo is actually is real fighting. he has never practiced martial arts and has. been trolling for over 5 years on kung fu vids.
Whereas KF's effectiveness is shown in their staged, choreographed, contrived, fucking absurd LARP "demonstrations" in which one idiot KF tard "attacks" like a zombie and the other does dance moves. Why don't you fags just call it dancing instead of martial arts? That would at least be honest.
kommisar still chatting shit lol. havent you won the gracie fc yet...sorry i mean ufc. btw nothing on this vid is wing chun. all looks like sing i, pakua and other northern styles.
I wonder if kung fu only works against people fighting kung fu? If someone who is fighting with kung fu can fight another style (I know they can fight western boxers) but like, can someone in MMA fight someone who uses kung fu or is it mismatched. Nice video by the way.
@SteelClaw Just not how to punch, block, kick, maintain a proper stance...and they waste valuable training time flopping about in weak-ass looking forms like the ones shown above.
@Itsnattatooma they are actually solid stances I didnt beilve in stances for a long time but u really can turn into a statue when practicing them they do defend u from a take down. My brother who does bjj went for a shoot takedown I got in a karate front stance it took him awhile to take me down we were testing eachother out but if it were a real fight my hands would have already grabed an ear and the other shoved up hs eye im sure he would have let go
Well as interesting as that story is, I prefer to trust evidence that I can see, and from what I've seen standing like a statue is the worst way to counter a takedown. I suggest you find a better training partner. Also - try to find the video of a BJJ gym vs a karate gym from the 70s - from students all the way to the instructers all of the matches combined took less than 10 minutes with the BJJ guy winning every time.
Karate does not teach good take down defense (if at any).
@Itsnattatooma Ive tested it on other BJJ guys and no u dont stand like a statue but U lower ur stance and make ur center of gravity is heavier for ur opponent not to be able to take you down thats what the stances are for from the fights ive been in on the street I never once was taken to the ground believe what you want but anything is possible
@SteelClaw Yeah getting your centre of gravity low is the right idea. There are at least half-a-dozen takedowns that I can think of off the top of my head, I hope you learn to counter all of them. There is no single magic technique that does everything.
@Itsnattatooma I like doing the karate front stance( aka bo stance in kung fu) when being attacked by a shoot this leaves them busy sometimes trying to take u down with one leg while their heads expose i like grabbing and ripping the ear off that's one way they let go. same with tackles towards ur body then u shove them down with there own strength. just lowering ur stance in general maintains ur balance just enough to counter this worked for me also this is street fighting stuff
@MistressOfKungFu This is the problem, Kung Fu has become so stagnant and insular, how will they do against a determined wrestler for instance? We know from most meetings of Kung Fu practioners and BJJ practitioners they BJJ guy wins because Kung Fu ground techniques just aren't very complete.
I want to go to this disco.

It`s a shame that it looks like 90% of the people watching this don`t know what it is they are looking at, or the difference between the form and fighting technique, to watch these forms then make assumptions of the fighting abilities of the masters is beyond stupid and shows real ignorance of real kung fu which believe me you are not gonna find out from google, youtube or any book.

and one last thing! you mma idiots only know how to grapple but you have no idea about striking. i mean u guys hav no idea what youre talking here! honestly you kickboxers can never defeat these masters. you have more muscles thats for sure but u've got brains!!!!
Hanoshiro 1 month ago
@Hanoshiro "you kickboxers can never defeat these masters"
Quite the opposite, really. Read up on the history of Kung Fu vs Muay Thai. Kung Fu got its ass kicked every time.
Evensong4001 2 weeks ago
@Evensong4001 that doesnt mean that its always that kickboxers can defeat kung fu people. there r many cases i have seen myself that kung fu masters hav also defeated muay thai practioners. in kung fu you rarely use knees n elbows. but there one of the styles in shaolin boxing that uses both knees n elbows. one of the shaolin monk is master hui neng who has defeated all lamas, the japanese fighters and thai fighters. and also Huo Yuan Jia the kung fu champion. therefore depends on practitioners
Hanoshiro 2 weeks ago
@Hanoshiro In literally every combat tournament that has ever been documented, the Kung Fu guys were bested by Muay Thai. There's even a book by some Chinese guy who mentioned all these losses and the reason behind it (with actual pictures from the tournament).
If you can show me a single video of a Kung Fu practitioner beating a high level Thai fighter, I'd believe that Kung Fu does indeed have its application.
Evensong4001 2 weeks ago
@Evensong4001 yeah there was a video where it shows in china. the sanda kung fu practitioners who have defeated muay thai fighters. but im unable to open that. it says that the video is inappropriate for the users. besides im a kung fu-karate practitioner and i have a lot of street fighting experiences. i have been beaten up by thai fighters but at the same time i have also defeated many thai boxers. mma fighters and also taekwondo fighters. i am talking kung fu as superior because i have....
Hanoshiro 2 weeks ago
@Hanoshiro .....the street fighting experiences and have also beaten many kick boxers.
Hanoshiro 2 weeks ago
@Hanoshiro No offense, but you saying you are an experienced fighter is not proof. I can similarly say I am an experienced Thai kickboxer and have defeated many Kung Fu fighters.
I simply haven't seen any Kung Fu fighter use his/her skills to defeat a high level kickboxer. Of course it depends on the fighters themselves, but at high level Kung Fu is just not that efficient.
Evensong4001 2 weeks ago
@Evensong4001 im sorry to say that i have no proof because i cant show any video of my street fighting and also i have defeated many kick boxers. im not any mma or thai boxing practitioner but even then i have managed to defeat them. i have been practicing since i was 9 or 10 years and kung fu has also helped me beat high level fighters. i have used my kung fu against high level fighters. and beaten them in street fights also i have been in mma and full contact tournaments and i have beaten many
Hanoshiro 2 weeks ago
@Evensong4001 besides youre talking abt kung fu fighters not superior. there is also lots of biographies abt an old shaolin monk who was an expert in shaolin chuan fa(aka shorinji kenpo in japanese) who has defeated muay thai fighters. and also master shi yan lei and master shi yan ming themself have cultivated kung fu to a very higher level and the evidences is also found that they can defeat kick boxers though they havent been into challenges because they r monks.
Hanoshiro 2 weeks ago
@Hanoshiro also you may have not heard about li shu wen. he isnt much known cuz he was a traveller. thyough he wasnt a shaolin kung fu fighter but a taoist kung fu which was a bit similar to shaolin kenpo called ba ji quan. history says that li shu wen was the most powerful in china during the time of communist party(i.e. mao tse tung). in his record he was the best sphere practitioner and also he never lost even a single fight. he defeted all the challengers in his life nd never lost any fight
Hanoshiro 2 weeks ago
@Evensong4001 Yes, that is very true. People can talk and write blogs all they want but it does not make it truth. Hence why I prefer debating with action rather then words. Are you in Aus Evensong? If you are, I invite you to come to physically debate with me. Or if you prefer I can come to you. If that sounds a bit intimidating, please have a look at my vids and you can see that I'm just a softie useless taichi guy and you'll walk all over me easy right?
benngearthquake 2 weeks ago
@benngearthquake Unfortunately, I'm not in Aus. And I'd like to say that I'm some elite level kickboxer where I live (because everyone says that on the internet), truth is I'm not. But you don't have to be a fighter to be able to tell what works or what doesn't, and even though I've been involved in quite a few fights, I'm certainly not a 'fighter', because a fighter typically fights a lot.
Evensong4001 2 weeks ago
@Evensong4001 I disagree. People who have different level of skill and combat experience will view things differently. Sometimes what looks useless is more then meets the eye, and those who have been on the receiving end learn not to be so quick to judge. Even if you are a elite kickboxer, that will only qualify you to criticise other kickboxers, unless of course you have defeated the elite of every other style of Kung Fu.
benngearthquake 2 weeks ago
@benngearthquake "People who have different level of skill and combat experience will view things differently"
When I talked about judging a martial art, I meant by means of empirical results.
Statistically speaking, styles like Kung Fu have had little to no success against the more practical martial arts like wrestling, boxing, kickboxing etc. I'm talking about high level competition.
Evensong4001 2 weeks ago
@Evensong4001 I give very little value to sports competition results as a means to judge a style, as they do not simulate real combat. In life, there are no rules on where you can or can't hit your opponent, what you can or can't grab, etc. I had sent students into tournaments before, but they get warnings and disqualifcations for doing what they were trained to do; win a fight. In real life, there is no ref to save you, no nice padded ground for BJJ /MMA guys to roll around on.
benngearthquake 2 weeks ago
@benngearthquake "as they do not simulate real combat"
You are not the first one to claim that. There is a plethora of incidents, statistics and reasoning to the contrary. Those who fare well in competitions are likely to fare well in a no-holds bared environment as well.
To fix your statement, in a real fight situation (which is actually very close to MMA fights), there would be no-ref to save your average street fighter from a decorated professional MMA fighter [contd]
Evensong4001 2 weeks ago
@Evensong4001 Without references, statistical claims are just heresay and have no value.
benngearthquake 2 weeks ago
@benngearthquake As for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, its practitioners have time and again proved its effectiveness in combat. The no-holds barred Vale Tudo competitions in Brazil had long been dominated by BJJ guys. Both the US law enforcement bodies and the navy seals, realizing its efficiency, undertake BJJ. I believe it would be very ignorant to say that the army, cops and no holds barred fighters don't reflect real combat situations.
Evensong4001 2 weeks ago
@Evensong4001 The military and law enforcement are not looking to teach their members 'an art' but something simple that takes little time to learn or intelligence to grasp that could save their life. Good thing they carry tazers and rifles.
benngearthquake 2 weeks ago
@benngearthquake The military teach their members pure warfare, the instill in them the skills to survive against an equally prepared enemy. Weakness would mean death. Of course they carry rifles, but they are equally capable of hand-to-hand combat as well.
Are you suggesting that a traditionalist (who hardly ever spars and whose discipline is notorious for not producing results) can defeat a war veteran who the military makes sure can fight to the best of his ability?
Evensong4001 2 weeks ago
That depends more on the traditionalist and the war veteran in question.
benngearthquake 2 weeks ago
@benngearthquake "Good thing they carry tazers and rifles"
While engaging in the most real and deadly form of combat possible...as opposed to your average traditionalist who neither actively seeks competition nor ever been subjected to anything remotely close to combat, whilst training for those 'spectacular' acrobatics that has no value in terms of self defense.
Evensong4001 2 weeks ago
@benngearthquake It is true that some people might not immediately grasp the application of certain techniques and write them off as ineffective, having observed many different disciplines pitting their skills against each other, your personal skills are no longer an issue. Most critics of martial arts (and sports in general) often never directly partake in the sport.
There is nobody to my knowledge who has defeated every Kung Fu style, but that doesn't affect the statistics.
Evensong4001 2 weeks ago
@Evensong4001 Those who do not takepart in martial arts have no business criticising martial artists. Unfortuneatly in this day and age, people can say what they want without consequences for insulting people who don't deserve it. Noticed that I have never said one word against kickboxing or Muay Thai or any other style that I have not trained in or have beated the best of myself. I hope that you can learn some curtesy from my example, as I can't teach you some manners in person.
benngearthquake 2 weeks ago
@benngearthquake "Those who do not takepart in martial arts have no business criticising martial artists"
That is a subjective pov, and in my opinion, not necessarily. If they know what they're talking about and can reason appropriately while substantiating their claims, then I find it is unreasonable to condemn them from arguing by saying "I just know more than you!".
Evensong4001 2 weeks ago
@Evensong4001 No, its more a matter of curtesy. Just as I can discipline my own children for their own good, but it is wrong for me to discipline the children of others without their guardian's consent. I have the right to make critiques to make Traditional Training more applicable and realistic, but you as an outsider do not. If you have earned the respect of a practitioner and they ask you for your opinion, then you have the right to give your opinion, which is not the case here.
benngearthquake 2 weeks ago
@benngearthquake "you as an outsider do not"
I'm not critiquing to remedy the traditional arts. I'm merely an analyst.
And you have no business dictating me or anyone what they can or cannot do or what the proper protocol is (unless it directly affects you)...
Especially considering all the evidence supports my claims.
Evensong4001 2 weeks ago
@Evensong4001 You haven't actually cited any statistics or their sources!
benngearthquake 2 weeks ago
@Evensong4001 The fact that you don't intend to remedy the traditional arts to improve the development of future practitioners is why I take issue with you. This clip is a celebration of traditional MA and it has no hostilities towards Muay Thai or kickboxing, yet here you are putting the boot in. Its like going to someone's party and splashing a drink in their face. Being a representative of traditional arts, of course it affects me!!! It is my duty to defent it.
benngearthquake 2 weeks ago
@benngearthquake I am helping those practitioners in my own way, by pointing them in the direction which they will know for sure will bear fruit. Why spend time revamping the entire art, when the required result has already been achieved in modern competitions.
I know they have no hostility towards Muay Thai. I never said that. And yes, being a good person is more beneficial to the society than being a good fighter (not to say, though, that good fighters aren't good people). What's your point?
Evensong4001 2 weeks ago
@benngearthquake My initial response was to the person who said kickboxers would never beat 'these' masters, when history and the footage itself hints the opposite. I merely pointed out some facts, so yes, I'm guilty of speaking the truth.
It's not like crashing someone's party, more like giving a reality check to people who are deliberately deluding themselves because of their emotional attachment to the art [contd]
Evensong4001 2 weeks ago
@benngearthquake Take you, for instance, you're claiming to 'defend' your art, yet you're doing that not by directly addressing my claims but rather attempting to dissuade me from doing whatever I'm doing. You're not willing to assess the validity of my claims, you're only worried that it makes your art look bad. Ironically, this is the same reaction that Bruce Lee had to endure when he first realized (the hard way) that the 'traditions' were flawed.
Evensong4001 2 weeks ago

@benngearthquake "of course it affects me"
I meant directly affect you. You can simply choose to ignore me and be not affected at all, but you don't, so that doesn't count as me directly affecting you.
Evensong4001 2 weeks ago
@benngearthquake "without consequences for insulting people"
"as I can't teach you some manners in person"
You imply that I insult them with your subtle threats. I disagree. In my view, respect needs to be earned. I'm merely critiquing based on the statistical evidence of their failure to produce results in terms of actual combat.
I actually respect traditionalists in that they highly value their ethics and morals...
But their fighting methods are erroneous.
Evensong4001 2 weeks ago
@Evensong4001 Again, without references, statistical claims have no value. You claim to respect traditionalists for their ethics and morals, yet here you are spitting on their life's work and showing them very little of that respect.
benngearthquake 2 weeks ago
@benngearthquake I'm not very receptive to your emotional appeals that 'it's their life's work', I'm more concerned with results. If somebody spent their life on something mundane then why should I respect that work?
I know they are good people of pacifist nature, and that is something I respect. I respect them as a person, but not as a fighter. Same reason I don't respect Kanye West as an environmentalist.
Evensong4001 2 weeks ago
@Evensong4001 Because being a person of good character is much more positive to your own life and society as a whole then a being good fighter.

@benngearthquake References to these tournaments were also made by Bob Wall, an acquaintance of Bruce Lee. In fact, Bruce himself was critical of the traditional martial arts (Black Belt).
Evensong4001 2 weeks ago
@Evensong4001 I never thought much of Bruce either. People should remember that his skills had traditional martial arts as their source, multiplied by his intense work ethic. No one can deny that Bruce's classical martial arts training was the major contributor to his level of skill, as much as he wanted to critique. While Bruce had tried to make a short cut system with JKD, but none of his students have reached his level of skill.
benngearthquake 2 weeks ago
@benngearthquake IMO, Bruce's legend has been exaggerated. He was primarily a combat philosopher and his theories were ahead of his time.
But he was no fighter, and his so-called 'skill' is a myth. The guy has like a total of 2 documented fights (one of which he probably lost). The other one was against a no-named guy.
So I find it rather ironic when people talk about his so called combat prowess.
Evensong4001 2 weeks ago

marcmody 5 months ago
@marcmody Real Kung fu will never be seen on any video, no authentic kung fu has ever been filmed. The REAL practitioners would never allow it to be filmed, they train for decades to kill in one hit. These people are "wishy washy" kung fu and would be decimated by any real brawler. This is an art form, not a combat form. REAL kung fu has no form and the first block or attack is designed to break what ever it hits. That is real kung fu, really thats REAL any form of true combat or style.
iJigglypuff 5 months ago
@iJigglypuff y'guys aren't Chinese I s'pose. Well, even most Chinese themselves don't understand Kung fu, not being racist but I'll tell you what it really is. Kung fu is not a special skills to win a fight, it's just a form of movement you make into your habit each time you fight. Just coz one learns let's say white crane fist doesn't mean he can't hit like an mma boxer. if he uses even some moves in white crane, it means he's using kung fu. this is a common misunderstanding many have.
plovakia 4 months ago
@iJigglypuff Kung Fu wasn't anything special. To us, back in those days, we saw it in the same way you currently see your own form of western boxing. It's nothing special. Except that we focus more on making it a form of habit with each time we fight so we don't have to think as we fight. Kung fu doesn't necessarily kill in 1 hit. Let's put it this way. Kung fu simply means "fighting" (although it doesnt translate to that). There were plenty who did kung fu just to show off. It's kung fu too lol
plovakia 4 months ago
@plovakia agree with most of your points. first off, kung fu was originally invented by a monk as a form of exercise to keep his disciples healthy n strong so they don't fall asleep while praying. eventually it evolved into various forms of kung fu we see today. unfortunately most of them are impractical for real fighting. but the point of practising these arts still remains true: making yourself healthier and stronger so you'll have an advantage in a fight
austinsavage 4 months ago
@austinsavage Are you kidding? Really? Damo invented kung fu? Mate, when the Chinese say "Shaolin is root of all kung fu", the Chinese person saying it is either ignorant, or saying it to promote Shaolin. Wushu existed LONG before the Shaolin monastery was even an idea in Emperor Xiaowen's mind.
Clown7916 3 months ago
@Clown7916 what i said about the origin of kungfu comes from books and documentaries, not my own opinion. and that Bodhidharma invented kung fu is a popular accepted theory. the chinese saying "Shaolin is the root of all kung fu" is an old saying. i'm not saying it's true, but common sense dictates that if it didn't have a grain of truth, the Chinese won't be spouting it every chance they get. unless u think they're all dumb. anyway, thanks for an interesting new perspective on kung fu's origin
austinsavage 3 months ago
i think in the old days not many people practise martial arts so we hear tonnes of stories where kung fu masters kick ordinary folks' ass. most of these are probably true. but today a lot of us are exposed to one martial art or another, so these 'masters' are no longer the bad ass they used to be. i wouldn't say they are 'exposed', but more like the bar has been raised and those who stick to traditional arts can't keep up
austinsavage 4 months ago
@austinsavage Sry but that's not how it was in China. China was a very tough country full of barbarians and bad guys. Everyone had to learn to fight for their survival. There were more martial artist back then compared to now
plovakia 4 months ago
@plovakia agree with what you said. my point is, kung fu is meant to promote good health as much as fighting skills. most ppl dismiss kung fu as useless just because it's not as straightforward as boxing/muay thai. but that's a mistake coz there are kung fu techniques & drills that are useful in real fights, ie, Bruce Lee got his speed and coordination from wing chun and he admitted as much
austinsavage 4 months ago
@austinsavage youve scratched the surface of the truth but the fact is that kung fu movements are almost all useful for combat if you can figure out how. It was once said that every label(movement) in a form has at least three applications(striking range, trapping range, grappling range) and thats the minimum. Problem is so many martial artists got lost in the forms and didn't think to look beyond them as any good school teaches at some point. Live and train well .
Bastion83 2 months ago
@Bastion83 well said bro. completely agreee
austinsavage 2 months ago
@austinsavage thanks man and a further note to you, the problem isnt traditional vs modern because modern in this case simply means newer, not better. The problem is finding (if this is what you want) finding a traditional school that as I said, goes beyond the forms after a point. Hope your day finds you well man.
Bastion83 2 months ago

Clown7916 3 months ago

- Real KF fighting is much more sublte and very dangerous (judo/boxing rules limit)

ssoonncciioo 7 months ago
Rock on... one has to take notice of their balance and agility not mentioning tghe power...that is why they are called "old masters"...just one of blows was designed and set up to f*** shit up... eyes, testicles, throat, ribs...it didn't matter.... sure, the forms may look comical, but its showboating, or perhaps a short glimpse of the ways the old master was gonna f*** shit up, and more importantly what the opponent had to be dealing with really soon...

This looks a lot like what people do at raves. I think I do the same when I'm in a good mood and I've got some music on. It's not the same as taking boxing lessons, but it's got to be at least somewhat useful for self-defense - in the same way that juggling would be.

Wing chun, Cai Lifo, real Chinese kung fu is in south China.

bastion he will do this crap for years n learn nothing....his answers are retarded. can wing chun beat mma? could Sonny Liston have beat helio gracie at Judo? could Helio.have beaten him in a boxing ring? no....different arts tools for different jobs. when fighting for real, for your life or that of others sport combat will not be as effective. wheres krav maga in ufc? id love to see a gracie against that.in a real fight. ill keep training kommisar, you keep trolling.
DanieleToscano 8 months ago

Hmm, so telling to see a diehard KF cultist encourage others to engage in prior restraint....
kommisar 8 months ago
with regard the very average gracie heritage in Judo..thats what they do not JJ...look up Kimura. Also see Banned for steroid use to defeat Sakuraba. catch wrestling is the most successful style in the sport...it is a sport and thats all.

Please tell me the last time a KF LARPer beat an international judo champion with KF.
kommisar 8 months ago
for all you normal people kommisar is a fat kid who believes that a competition owned by the gracies to show how good their judo is actually is real fighting. he has never practiced martial arts and has. been trolling for over 5 years on kung fu vids.
DanieleToscano 8 months ago
Whereas KF's effectiveness is shown in their staged, choreographed, contrived, fucking absurd LARP "demonstrations" in which one idiot KF tard "attacks" like a zombie and the other does dance moves. Why don't you fags just call it dancing instead of martial arts? That would at least be honest.
kommisar 8 months ago
kommisar still chatting shit lol. havent you won the gracie fc yet...sorry i mean ufc. btw nothing on this vid is wing chun. all looks like sing i, pakua and other northern styles.

I wonder if kung fu only works against people fighting kung fu? If someone who is fighting with kung fu can fight another style (I know they can fight western boxers) but like, can someone in MMA fight someone who uses kung fu or is it mismatched. Nice video by the way.

@MistressOfKungFu mma rules or no rules these guys are taught to eye gouge and fish hook and stick there fingers up ur nose
SteelClaw 8 months ago
@SteelClaw Just not how to punch, block, kick, maintain a proper stance...and they waste valuable training time flopping about in weak-ass looking forms like the ones shown above.
Itsnattatooma 8 months ago
@Itsnattatooma they are actually solid stances I didnt beilve in stances for a long time but u really can turn into a statue when practicing them they do defend u from a take down. My brother who does bjj went for a shoot takedown I got in a karate front stance it took him awhile to take me down we were testing eachother out but if it were a real fight my hands would have already grabed an ear and the other shoved up hs eye im sure he would have let go
SteelClaw 8 months ago
@SteelClaw
Itsnattatooma 8 months ago
@Itsnattatooma Ive tested it on other BJJ guys and no u dont stand like a statue but U lower ur stance and make ur center of gravity is heavier for ur opponent not to be able to take you down thats what the stances are for from the fights ive been in on the street I never once was taken to the ground believe what you want but anything is possible
SteelClaw 8 months ago
@SteelClaw Yeah getting your centre of gravity low is the right idea. There are at least half-a-dozen takedowns that I can think of off the top of my head, I hope you learn to counter all of them. There is no single magic technique that does everything.
Itsnattatooma 8 months ago
@Itsnattatooma I never said that? all i said was traditional martial art stances do help for not being taken down ?
SteelClaw 8 months ago
@SteelClaw ok - my mistake. Any stances in particular? With names?
Itsnattatooma 8 months ago
@Itsnattatooma I like doing the karate front stance( aka bo stance in kung fu) when being attacked by a shoot this leaves them busy sometimes trying to take u down with one leg while their heads expose i like grabbing and ripping the ear off that's one way they let go. same with tackles towards ur body then u shove them down with there own strength. just lowering ur stance in general maintains ur balance just enough to counter this worked for me also this is street fighting stuff
SteelClaw 8 months ago
@MistressOfKungFu This is the problem, Kung Fu has become so stagnant and insular, how will they do against a determined wrestler for instance? We know from most meetings of Kung Fu practioners and BJJ practitioners they BJJ guy wins because Kung Fu ground techniques just aren't very complete.
Itsnattatooma 8 months ago
@Itsnattatooma I can agree with that. That said, if a martial artist is doing kung fu right, he won't need a ground game. lol
