Well, Hamilton? Where is your precious hockey team that you promised that we'd see last summer? Any comments? How does it feel to be third fiddle to Winnipeg and Kansas City, two teams that have already had NHL franchises and failed? Doesn't say much for your fan base. That's okay... at least those 344 of you that showed up for the rally last summer will always have that with you... delusions of grandeur.
@js30blackhawks2010 its true that there are two markets not far away, however the Leafs have so much more demand than supply its ridiculous. Tickets are so expensive, way more than any other team. And the fact remains that this building would be sold out every night if there was a nhl team. It's cheaper to go to the movies than to a coyotes game in Phoenix, and look how many people go.
@pizzabox24 It doesn't matter how much "more" demand they have because the Maple Leafs will never give up any of their territory to another franchise. I think they'd file a lawsuit before allowing a team in Hamilton. Tickets are expensive here in the US as well... just not in markets that fail to draw any fans like Columbus, Florida, Nashville and Phoenix. I have been on the Blackhawks' season ticket waiting list for five years now... long before they were a great team.
So what would of happen if the time to show up at was 5:30pm instead of 12:30. you have to thing about it there was a lot of hockey fan still working.
5,000 people my American ass. You Canucks can't count either, can you? It looks like there might be 700 people there. And this is what you call "support?" You may "want a team" but you already have two within an hour's drive. Just quit whining already.
They said themselves that there was about 5,000 people that showed up, and you don't even know what a "Canuck" is. There are like 700,000 people live in Hamilton, plus many cities around us are also wanting it to be in Hamilton, this was just 1 event that many people didn't know about at the time, so stop whining already, you damn Yankie!
That's an inuit word meaning "person" or it's a slang term for "Canadian." Apparently you inbreds up north haven't discovered Wikipedia. There is NO WAY that 5,000 people showed up for this. There are about 500,000 people in Hamilton according to several websites. You hosers are the only ones complaining about this. You think you "deserve" a hockey team when you already have two markets close by. You don't deserve anything.
It's not about who deserves the hockey team, it's about how many people are wanting it in Hamilton, and we have about 700,000 and this is coming from a Hamiltonian, I know how many people live here. Plus "Canuck" was created by the french, and mostly used for the french only. Anyway, the hockey was made in Canada, why would you Americans need a team when you guys have like 26 teams? and Canada has 6 teams? You greedy mofo.
We do deserve a team, I notice no one cares what you have to say anyway, you are just ignorant asswipe causing trouble. Quit your whining anyway... You Americans cry too much, you guys basically want everything... Just like a little kid.
I like how you think because im Canadian we never heard of Wikipedia....
You Americans are mostly the same, you guys say so much shit about our country and you hardly know anything about yours. I guess that's because our education here is better. I guarantee you don't even know why we have a Maple Leaf on our flag, sooo many Americans don't know the answer, and it's so easy. But you will probably google it to find out.
LOL, I bet you also don't know how many stars are on your flag, many Americans don't even know that either, and that's YOUR country. Hahahah! Anyway, this is about NHL, ours and other cities is supporting it more, so we do deserve it. Plus, you have no idea what you're talking about. You keep rambling like you know, but you have no idea why Hamilton is on the top.
@js30blackhawks2010 the hawks rarely sold out before 2009.. also canadians have higher per capita incomes before taxes so i wouldn't be calling them inbreds.
Also, reason why having NHL in Hamilton is great, because you don't have to pay so much, nor to live here, and we have an awesome city. we're known to have the most waterfalls here, and our city is cleaner, and we're nicer, and we waited for YEARS to have a NHL in Hamilton. You Americans don't even know how to skate, so stop trying to get in involve with our sport.
Just because a city is "awesome" doesn't mean they should have an NHL franchise. I can think of lots of "awesome" cities here in the U.S. that don't have a franchise simply because the league doesn't think those cities can support a team. Cincinnati comes to mind right away. Americans don't know how to skate? That's news to the thousands and thousands of amateur hockey players here that are getting involved at an early age. "Our city is so awesome..." Pretty lame reason to bring a team to a city
There "was" 5,000 people? Don't you mean there "were" 5,000 people? Nice work. Props to your grammar teachers. If you honestly believe there were that many there than you're a moron. Doesn't a stadium hold about 20,000? So, if all those people show up for every game you'll be at 25% capacity... that isn't even close to what they draw in Phoenix right now. Just give it up... you don't deserve a team and you're not going to get one in your market. Just follow the Maple Leafs or Sabres.
Why you talking about my grammar when you obviously not doing so well yourself? "Just give up... you don't deserve a team" can you see what's wrong? You forgot to add a capital "Y" plus I have no idea what you mean by "Just give up" when I only stated one thing. I think you need to cool it.
Plus there's over 900,000 people around Hamilton who want this NHL, and there were 5,000 there. The roof top is big so you can't see much on camera, you have to be there. Hamilton is very close now, so we're going to get it. Anyway, there is no point in fighting with you, you will soon find out yourself that Hamilton has more people pushing for it.

But the Leafs would put up a mighty fight to prevent a team going in there.
