What a lovely and inspiring young lady. What she had to know to sail a boat around the world far exceeds what she'd learn in 7 months of school. Let alone what she learned on the journey.

how is this a disgrace? people think just because she is young then she is stupid and incapable of doing this. i think it was a big risk, but life is about taking risks. and this wasnt even for money! this was a girl who wanted to fufill her dream. and she did. and yes she will get media attention for it. but she should, because she did an amazing thing. so dont say she is "spoilt". she didnt do this for the fame and glory.

It has its good and bad sides, i mean, sure its dangerous but you cant say she didnt do well. And its not so dangerous now shes back. Look what she achieved. It hasnt been many people who can get around the whole world and get back safely. So I think she did well. And no, she didnt break the record but she was pretty darn close.

Well, technically, she DID break the record, even if the boat council doesn't accept because she is under age. I see no problem in her using technology to make her journey easier and safer. It is like saying that Ayrton Senna is a "less" of a champion just because he had access to more technology than Juan Manuel Fangio, biggest Formula 1 champion in the 50'.

But taking your point, maybe next time we will see youngest solo sailor without use of technology.

Third, what is the problem in taking a few months off school to pursuit your dream? Forth, there are easier and safer ways to seek attention and fame than sailing around the world on your own, don't you think?

You have no idea how dangerous it is to be in the middle of the ocean alone on a title yacht. You have no base for your critics.
