I do three D modeling, and the shroud of turin 3D model thing is a hoax. you simply can't get a realistic height map from the data available, the eyebrows and hair would stick out WAY out ahead of the head.

I watched the show when it premiered and I must say what they accomplished was something amazing...it gave me chills when they first showed his face. Whether people believe or not is their own prerogative, but seeing that face certainly stirred something spiritual in me.

@Passionofthetaint I don't think they did. (I only caught the last 30 minutes of the show.) They did do an interesting reversal of their model. They made a 3D cast from their computer model and then used a copy machine to scan it. The image produced matched up with the image on the Shroud very well. They conclude that they have captured the "data" from the Shroud in their model.

Modern Forensic science has shown that the Shroud could not be faked in the 12th century as it is a "closed case" match with the Sudarium of Oviedo. @Passionofthetaint I don't think they did. (I only caught the last 30 minutes of the show.) They did do an interesting reversal of their model. They made a 3D cast from their computer model and then used a copy machine to scan it. The image produced matched up with the image on the Shroud very well. They conclude that they have captured the "data" from the Shroud in their model.

you mean the crack-pot theory that Leo DaVinci invented photography and later threw away the technology, just to fool people hundreds of years in the future?

a very rudimentary device which took up to 3 weeks of constant exposure to create a foggy-quasi-image. Modern Forensic science has shown that the Shroud could not be faked in the 12th century as it is a "closed case" match with the Sudarium of Oviedo. The Sudarium has a 100% solid history to the 7th century. Things are what you WANT them to be. If you want the Shroud to be by Leonardo, so be it

it's a Human nature to find reasons for his theological beleives, but if you strongly beleive, it doesnt matter which faith you are, i dont think we need to find evidence for the truthfullness, I think no one would be absolutely sure if it's christ, and I hope it doesnt lead the faithfuls and beleivers of christ into another dimension and creates more divisions and hate. but it's very interesting, that only with small imprint the whole facial features has been created from the mind of an artist.
