i did this the other day. We were in a cessna 152 though so it only takes about 12 knots crosswind for the same effect. It was scary and I almost did the same thing. My wing didn't touch down though. My instructor was not impressed

I am thinking that the plane in this video should have been redirected somewhere else, at least to another near by airport with runways that were not subjected to this cross wind, it appears that the plane was not under control of the pilot for a few moments, this could have ended very badly.

@djwilko7 It's all routine for pilots to land in a crosswind. The only thing to align is to bring proper rudder to avoid being pushed on the other side and missing the runway. Actually that pilot made the best decision, touch 'n go since he din't had a secure approach, he still wasn't at the point of no return, so he just cranked up the engine in order to make a safer attempt. No aircraft would come in straight. It will always approach in a sliding maner to counteract the effect of strong wind

When we are on the ground, we can auto-balance and adjust because we have a standing point where the plane has no way of straightening itself on a flat point.

Some things are taken into account when flying the plane but with todays technology on weather, the operation of new airliners etc the pilots have an arsenal of information and alternatives. Putting that many lives at risk is pointless and one can make some serious mistakes under that kind of pressure!!
