This was shot in the Northern Sierras of California, but I know that bobcats & cougars can coexist in the Rocky Mountains, as well, maybe elsewhere, too.
I don't think they are direct competitors--cougars focus on larger prey, like deer, bighorn, etc.
I had a fox coming in my yard. & Yes they can see the IR. It was jumpy & kept looking at the camera which was attached to the fence. When I lookes at the camera I could see the IR lights even thoufg they are not bright at all.
Thanks! Camera that got the animal pics was an IR, motion sensing one. I can't remember what brand--there are a lot of them. animals aren't supposed to be able to see the IR, but clearly they are sensing something...
Where exactly did you film? I didn't think Bobcats and Cougars were in the same region.
