When I watched the parachute deploy I thought it looked a bit squirrely. I'm not surprised you got some bruises from that. Nice smooth exit though. On my first jump I didn't arch at all and ended up seeing the aircraft at least twice while my instructor and I flipped around. He eventually got us stable, no help from me, and the rest of the jump went smoothly. Making turns under the parachute made me a bit queezy but the contents of my stomach stayed where they belonged.
