You is fo'given, M'Lord Milton. Bang your head against the floor , not. Rather, lift it up and see other fine men in their flying machines - and toss a coin or two into the Battle of Britain Flight Fund.
i helped Barry Pover get that bloody thing on the road after a lot of swearing me. holding him by the throat against the fuselage after a stressful day :)..............but we got there and it ended up flying again
@TheLordMilton What was that nasty comment for? These men Love flying and love beautiful machines. This wonderful pilot died flying a wonderful plane. I acknowledged this and his Love, and you call me a crank??!! What a nasty mind.
i would be interested to know where you got the footage of the late brian carrol and tony hulls, both friends of mine as i used to work with them on XS458 and i had the privalage of a fast taxi run with Brian in XS458
What happened to this aircraft, why did it crash? Also, how come the after burners last longer on the two seater than the single? I'm guessing the two seat cockpit generates a faster airflow around the cockpit and therefore over the top of the wings near the wing root, generating more lift. But it's just a guess!
@ianrkav well the f.6 would carry alot more fuel than the t5 due to a more larger ventral tank 100+ gallon bigger than the t5 in fact therfore it needed reheat just to get off the ground.
@BIGBalls136 Well that is another important consideration, much less weight! One which sprang to mind just after I posted my original comment:-) The mind works like that sometimes. I think there is some truth in my other comment though. I have read somewhere that the airflow around the twin seat cockpit did lead to increased airflow over the wing root which bled off towards wingtips, and also slightly increased lift. I just can't find the original report!
Awesome aircraft.

@AVMamfortas ....If I offended you, I kneel provocatively with my hands tied behind my back, whilst nutting the floor with vigour.
However, as a memoriam to a dead'un , your one line led me to misinterpret your prose.
Again , forgiveness should always be given with a smile albeit, even a creased benign one.
Love and peace, laughter and irony and may all your troubles be as small as I now feel.

Awesome piece of British engineering-huge power & speed and a rate of climb that would embarass many contemporary jet fighters.

I think it does still hold the climb record
1975buddha 1 year ago
@1975buddha it still holds the record for brakes off to altitude with the late dave stock at the controls, the T5 was indeed faster than the F6

WOW! this would outclimb most, if not all modern fighters!
