I think there's 2 things to take into account when talking about style in skateboarding. First, whether you re Goofy or Regular. It's a game changer. Knowing that your idols are goofy or regular makes you wan to be better than your idols. Through that process u kinna build upon this to creating your own unique style, your manners, gestures, lines picked up from ur idols. Through inspiration of others create that feeling of wanting to do better than you are and you build on it...
@morgon1231 lol.... I liked how you didn't mention Gino Iannucci, Guy Mariano, Jovantae Turner, John Cardiel, and (whew...) so many others in the 90s. Lotti has to go down as first, but Gino should have easily been 2nd, for sure...
This video made me miss skateboarding and all the good times me and my homeboys had back in the day. Time is precious and if you have your youth still, take full advantage and live it up. Sounds cliche, but being old like me and looking through those memories, there is nothing I wouldn't give to go back and do it all over again. Skate or Die!
There are two main parts I see in this video that is very inspirational...
The first one is the generations of skating, from the start, to the developing, to the downfall of style, then the return.
The second thing I see is the definition of style, if you think of it like this, it will take you a very long time to explain the whole concept of style. And when you know style, you will see it's one of the most important things in life, the thing that can separate you and make you stand out.
@Talkofthatown919 wrong guess, I did.. marc jonson and tom penny where the only ones wiht a little syle back in the day, the rest are awful, real style only came in around 2003-2004
@kennypoes whaaat how can you even say that?? who do you think has style then?? and how can you say that jay adams or tony alva dont have style? you're crazy man
hey guys i got like O-legs (bones in leg grown outwards a bit) does this effect my style a lot (heard it can give me trouble with balance during landing) and how could i mask it? :/
i hate it when u see a video of like 8 years old and they dont really do much and then u have h8ters talkin crap about them......... skating comes from the heart.....if u skate jus for chicks and money then ur a disgrace to skateboarding money cool and evrything but before there was money invovled skateboarding peeple skated cause they loved it not for sponsership
i try my best to keep STYLE more than anything...i have the most fun just mobbing a street corner and looking good while doing it... i'll learn a varial heel later.
Yeah, I would rather watch some old footage of Russ Howell skating with style than watching some kids doing jerky robotic ollie flips. Seems like street skating got so tech that something got lost.
what I am not understanding is how there are so few views. This clip is very important -if not, vital - to skateboarding. Any of you skaters out there reading this, pass this clip along to your fellow skateboarder(s) that has not seen this and show them how important it is to define your own style. This is what separates each and every skateboarder and makes them unique.

I'm no skater, but for things like that you have to practice, perfect, and improve. That is the only thing most people would say...
