@unterhose666 Hey man, just right click on the sample in the browser and select "Open in FruitySlicer Channel." It will automatically chop it up into slices and map them to different notes so you can use the Piano Roll. Also, if you want to use samples that aren't in a break, you can add a Layer channel, open it's properties, select all the samples you want to use, and in the Layer properties, press "Set Children." Then, on the drop-down menu next to "Layer," click on "Split Children." PRESTO!!!
I am just learning how to program the old style of jungle tunes, this video tutorial is exactly what I was looking for! This is by far one of the most inspiring and informative videos on the subject. I am not using FL to sequence, but the knowledge you shared is valuable for any DAW or Tracker. Great stuff! ..... maybe you might consider making an updated video? ;)
Yeah I was going to say that too "presequenced computer generated loops" would work perfectly! But in this case you are right about the delay, and natural swing. Since the loop you aquired was created from a real drummer from the winston brothers, there can always be defects and rushed tempo etc from the drummer. Hey...we are human we are not perfect. :)
Dude just a suggestion, in the first part of the video, a better way to equal the notes being chopped in the piano roll is to open the channel slicer window, click on the small slicing box, and there you have the option to choose ----1/2 beat---1/3 beat---1/4 beat---and 1/6 beat. that would represent how many out of a bar you are slicing like 1/2 beat would be half of one whole measure. great vid by the way sir!
Yeah, that is a useful tool, but you'll run into a lot of problems if the beat you're slicing has natural drummer's swing, or if there is any silence (or decay) at the beginning or end of the sample, because the drum hits won't land right on the slices. But on samples that are presequenced with no swing etc. it's definitely the way to go.
great tut, but whats the plugin u use? because i use samples to make drum tracks and i dont do it on piano roll :O

The ironic thing is that we spend so much time trying to make quantized drums sound natural and vice versa!
