@Mandar1979 that's not true. BlackBerry messenger works fine after you unlock it. BlackBerry devices automatically configure the APN settings when a new SIM card is put into it if the Blackberry is unlocked. If it doesn,t then this can all be manually configured.

It asks me to sign in with a blackberry ID when I insert the new sim card.. When I try to sign in it says that I've inserted the wrong password, even though I know its correct. I even tried reseting the password from my computer.. Any suggestions as to what I could do to get past this step? Because it doesn't let me access anything without signing in.

@Dsi595 you would need to purchase the code from our website. You'll get the code in about 3-5 minutes. When purchasing the code, you would need to provide the IMEI from the phone and the network carrier that it is originally from. Then you would input it into that phone. MEP codes (unlock codes) are unique to each individual device since the IMEI is different on every device.

3G capabilities will still be the same, but remember that the network that your'e trying to use the 9900 or 9930 on has to support the same frequencies.

@samuelvic it will work on any GSM carrier. If you unlock the 9930 it will work on any GSM carrier as well as the 1 CDMA carrier that the phone is originally from.

@BilaalM10 Insert an unaccepted SIM card and it should ask you for one unless someone has already unlocked it. You can check that by going to Options => Device => Advanced System Settings => SIM Card => Type MEPD. If it says Disabled or inactive beside the Network category, then it is unlocked. If it says Active, it is still locked.

@AbeBayBayy If it's unlocked, then it's unlocked forever. You would need to find out the carrier by checking the vendor ID and then matching it up against a list of BlackBerry vendor ids.

I just bought a BB 9900 on Amazon and received it today. The title of the product clearly stated "BB 9900 UNLOCKED", but guess what - I insert my sim-card and it gives me an error....My question is: how do I know which provider this phone is locked to?? Thanks.

Ok i have my unlock code to unlock it FROM rogers. Problem is : when i type mepd , it refreshes the screen an all is gd. BUT when i press mep alt+2 nothing happens at all...

I am using however my current sim card, not the target sim card which i do not havr yet because i am still deciding on other carrier... Does it matter? Cant i just unlock it without a new sim? Like other blackberries?

@HPjordan23 Yes but that requires technical expertise. If you have done any IT work or anything like that you can google on ROM replacement which takes 1 hour and analysis with USB connected to your computer + latest version of BB Desktop Manager + ROM of carrier you want to brand it with. You can also change the logo to a .bmp of what you want (non carrier) if you have one of the editing tools. Again not for the average user.

I know that with our technology as well as our support team, we have never had a problem with BlackBerry codes where the phone is NOT hard locked or already unlocked. Good luck!
