He was backing up, not running, and attacking all the time.
The only time he stopped attacking was when his back was against the fence. Then he would circle into space, reset himself, and start attacking again.

Condit used ANGLES, there was PLENTY of times where Condit came forward, punched and circled away, leaving Diaz punching air!! Every other champion in UFC does that in their title fights, even GSP who gets critiqued for being boring. Condit was not the agressor, and he didn't prove any superiority imho for failing to show he could impose his will.

LOL@beesh Diaz scored 62 head shots compared to 55 for Condit. Diaz scored 49 body shots to 36 for Condit. Condit scored 68 leg kicks to 6 for Diaz. Diaz had 1/3 in take-downs with 1 pass to back control. Condit didn't even attempt one takedown as he spent the fight backpeddaling.. How is that considered "technical"?
More "leg kicks" if you can even call them that to score points given they had zero effect in slowing Diaz from coming forward.

@FuShengAlex - I know how you got those stats, but you failed to include the head kicks Condit landed, and the TOTAL strikes are in Condit's favor, Condit landed 155 to Diaz's 117, Condit landed 151 Significant strikes compared to Diaz's 105. Condit out landed Diaz. I had friends over who were rooting for Diaz, neither of them complained with the decision. It was the right one.

Condit did GREAT!! he didn't let Diaz get in his head, didn't let Diaz do what he does best, didn't let Diaz get set to throw, didn't let Diaz submit him and didn't let Diaz WIN! Condit proved he was the more "technical" striker. Period. If you engage in a slug fest, you usually lose, so why do it? Pssshhh! It's called "hit and don't get hit".

Its frustrating to watch that kind of fight especially when someone like Condit is too afraid to go toe to toe. However, UFC is for seasoned veterans of the octagon and true winners find a way to win even while faced with adversity.Is Condit a sprinter... Sure... but Diaz should take the loss for what it is... Be a man... Learn from it.

the way they judge a fight is 1-octagon controll 2-agression 3 effective striking. that being said diaz got 2 out of three ,in my mind he won

How in the hell did Diaz win? Condit landed more strikes while avoiding majority of Nick's attacks. Carlos was the more active striker landing kicks and combinations.
So tell me, how the hell do you think Diaz won this fight? Condit re-positioned himself whenever Diaz tried pressing him against the cage, he exposed Diaz for the predictable fighter that he is.
The ONLY significant thing Diaz did was getting a late takedown.

As for Diaz he shouldn't have spent so much time taunting/goading Condit and went for some takedowns/submissions instead of doing the same thing that didn't work for the first 3/4 rounds. But he was the aggressor.

Diaz has the same plan in every fight, press his opponent against the cage and unleash his weak flurry punches.
Condit re-positioned himself every time Diaz tried doing so. He OUTSMARTED Diaz and was the more aggressive striker, he out-struck Diaz the entire fight with nice combinations and kicks.
Diaz did absolutely nothing to merit a victory, He ALLOWED Condit to re-positioned himself the whole fight and then he bitches that he "ran" Diaz is a sore loser.

lol@leaderOFlosers "weak flurry punches"? You know how Diaz's flurry punches feel from stepping in the ring with him instead of typing on a keyboard? There were instances where Carlos RAN to the other side of the cage.
Carlos instituted a smart strategy and Diaz didn't adapt and was clueless how to counter this. He could NEVER be "Natural Born Killer" vs. Nick and win, he had to change himself fully. Wasn't Carlos flapping his gums how this was going to be a "dogfight"?

@FuShengAlex - Condit PROVED that he was the more "technical" striker, everyone knows when you fight Diaz, he'll sucker you into a wild crazy slug fest where he ALWAYS does better than his opponent because he has good hands, Why engage in a fight that gives your opponent a better chance? I wouldn't, Condit knew he was better technically and used HIS skills to win. Can't hate on that.

beeshabo.....Carlos was the one that said he'd kick Diaz's ass in a interview before this fight. Then after the fight he's talking how he "picked him apart"? Anybody could've employed a strategy Carlos did, he didn't do jack to show he was better than Diaz. It's Diaz's fault too, he should've taken it to the ground instead of mouthing off. He got the only meaningful takedown.
Funny you mention basketball, if it was basketball Carlos'd be the guy that expired the 24 sec shotclock!

fights are won with hits and damages done to the opposing fighter and not only by being the aggressor and running after the opponent.
If Condit did nothing but step back and avoid nick, hands down nick deserves the win... but that's not what happened here. Condit brought a brilliant game plan with him... he did a lot more damage while avoiding nicks aggression... a perfect example of the cliche "DEFENSE is OFFENSE"... the only problem i hav with his win is, we have to wait longer for diaz&gsp

Condit won, but who the fuck would pay to see condit fighting? i wouldnt, hes not exciting has a boring gameplan and he got lucky in my opinion. Nick Diaz vs GSP would make atleast 5x the money than conshit vs gsp.
