  • great volleyball guys...!! but i mention one thing.....they dont have good block.....i saw only 2 blocks....althought you play great....!!and at 1:13 , this move is legal...As long as he got both feet around the outside and he doesn't step on the opponent's court, he is still performing a legal cross over...:))

  • EEEEVAAAN ROOOOOOMERO!

  • at 1:11 i hav no idea u can do that at vball :/

  • 1:12 wait that guy just ran over to the other side of the court under the net?? never knew you could do that, i tought you cant pass that line under the net, not even stepping on it

  • @liudxdx Yes that is legal, both in college and in FIVB. its called 'pursuit' rule now

  • @liudxdx You can step on the line, however your entire foot cannot cross the line or else you are "under". But when you pursue the ball you are not crossing the line because you are technically out of bounds. However it does not look like the setter really goes around the antenna, so in my opinion I think he should have been called under.

  • @mcholbrook2810 oh they say its legal in college and beach vb that you can cross

  • @liudxdx Yea you can pursue in college and beach... But you cannot cross the center line if you are in bounds.

  • WAIT! can he do that?!

    1:12-1:14 !

    he crossed the line!

  • @sarcasticasian i think he can do that if he doesnt touch the other teams court

  • @sarcasticasian Yeah, its called pursuit, and it's legal if you don't step in the other teams side of the court

  • @2:22 listen for "right, left right JUMP!!"

  • What he did was completely legal. You can't see the actual out of bounds line the the camera shot thats the problem. You are judging it from his knees which appear to be in the opposing court. As long as he got both feet around the outside he is still performing a legal cross over

  • he's allowed to cross under the net, but he's not allowed to touch the opponent's court so he would have had to go outside the antenna (opponent's free zone)

    10.1 BALL CROSSING THE NET

  • @tylerwal Yeah, I always loved the name of this thing: "international pursuit rule"

  • They should of challenge this.He went under the net..Crossing the line during the game....he could of got somebody hurt!

  • next tiem put the whole game instead of the scores

  • @diskid14 thanks. I'll be sure to do that next tiem...

  • @Hagrid008 really?!?! the ref blew the whistle when i went under like that in one of my games. but it's high school i guess it's different?

  • he went under the net! i love the anouncer!

  • he went under the net!

  • i love stanford thats the university i want to go to and play volleyball :)

  • 1:06 beautiful

  • omg they are too raw. i'm a senior in milwaukee, wi at a language school. and i hope to play that good. those serves and hits are FLAWLESS! :)

  • ah..man...my eyes!!!

  • alright! nice game

and really nice camera angle you got there !

  • hey, wait a minute... I have been to that stadium before!!! I was visiting CA... is the stadium in CA???

  • Pathetic defense on the first play, stanfords blockers just suck, thats why they lost

  • Those guys are amazing

  • Those guys are amazing!

  • Both great teams

  • IT IS CALLED A PURSUIT. If the first pass goes towards

the opponents side of the court outside the antenna, a player may go

beyond the center line (outside the poles) and play the ball back to their side

of the court as long as the ball passes outside the antenna on it’s return flight.

If the third hit then crosses the net between the antennas, play continues. In

order for the pursuit rule to be used, the facility must have a minimum of 2

meters clearance from the equipment to the sideline.

  • on about 1.10 a red player ran undeer the net to get the ball why didnt he get called thats an illegal play!

  • what division is this? is this D1?

  • OMG IMA A VOLLEYBALL PLAYER THESE GUYS R GREAT=^)

  • could you get a tri-pod?

  • @MikeyEspy Oh are those one of those mythical devices that have three legs and you can place a camera on top? I've only heard legends about such things...

  • @butels101

    very nice counterattack

  • @butels101 lmfao. your sarcastic comments are the best

  • Comment removed

  • thats good volleyballl ;}}

  • the lefty from UCI hitting 10's is sick!!!

  • 5:11-5:13 ridiculous block. Thumbs up if you agree....

  • on the play thats everyone is wondering about....i think he did cross inside the court but his feet is not on the ground. looks like he hopped over it!!

  • @butels101 he was talking about the setter at 1:13

  • the NCAA girls hit harder....

  • Wow this is volleybal of high level, didn't know that there were competitions between school, but when he crossed the line at 1.13, isnt that a faul?

  • @butels101

    he means line violation

and no it's not a line violation because both contacts travelled outside the antenna.

  • Check out the play staring about 1:05 seconds into the video...

  • Wow, this is soo cool! I play High school volley ball @ Central Magnet in bridgeport Ct, but if we were to play any of these teams, we'd have like no ponts in any of the three games, lol. This is crazy. Everything is coordinated perfectly, and no lack of communication. Amazing!

  • i dont go to stanford, byu actually, but shoji is a great setter, and with his brother at libero, i think thats awesome.. they deserved this year's ncaa title

  • the rally at 4:44 was amazing!! I am also confused on when he crossed over on the other team's side to retrieve a ball. Also, he did not cross on the outside of the antenna, he was on the inside.

  • your allowed to cross under the net from outside the antenna in which about 2 feet is given, im not sure whether or not he crossed from inside or outside the antenna because its at a bad angle but it looked good to me, he brough the ball back from outside the antenna too which is also legal...to answer your question ssjrapeyou

  • at 1:13, ref should of have called something! it shouldnt have been legal!

  • wat happened at 1:13 ?

  • he crossed. but i don't know why the ref didn't make the call. my guess is that since the ball was out they considered it out of play and didn't make the crossing call. but not too sure.

  • SOMEONES HOLDING A DOMO

  • Ok I saw the end and I now know that uci won. But which do you think is better overall. ( more games won )

  • Who won? Which team do you guys think is better over all .......uci or stanford?

  • @Freakster75 oviously the team that won is the better team! That is why we have a win lose system! lol!

  • UCI's libero is awesome! i love watching these guys play! GO UCI!!

  • too bad the red teams back row cant receive.

  • go fresno!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • i wonder how the setter can force the ball not to double infront of the hitter that is already infront of him...instead side by side...

  • where can i see a list of the best american uni (college ) teams

  • i agree with the defense comment. men's volleyball is more like tennis in that it is so fast moving. if there was more rallies i think it would help the following. plus, it doesn't help that a lot of the liberos on college teams are 6 feet tall or taller. there's only a handful of defensive players below six feet. for defense, the shorter the better.

  • @jackaroo18 hey you sound like a person who knows volleyball so I have a question. Im a libero whos 5 7 and looking to play d1. My coach says that most colleges look for liberos who are at least 6ft and if not the chances of making it are much less. Is this true?

  • i'm not sure if its true but its definitely more common to have a 6 ft libero. which makes no sense at all cause the hitters are so tall & hit so hard that the ball hits the ground sooner. that is why a shorter player is needed cause its easier for them to dig those hits than one who is a few ins shorter than the hitter. that's how i see it. however, if you're a defensive player and you are good at what you do, it doesn't matter what height you are. if you're good then you'll play d1.

  • alright thnx man, cuz i wana play d1 for george mason or rutgers and i need to know as much info as posible

  • good luck man. i hope it happens.

and btw, there are two players on uc irvine that are 5'9''. it can happen.

  • thanks bro

  • wuts d1 again?

  • I KNEW IT..

  • UC Irvine is so dominant it's unreal.

  • nice jump serves! :D

  • UC Irvine has the dark blue shirts right?

  • i know it is hard to resist recruting guys that can hit the damn ball. but the defence in men's volleyball it terrible. that is all that it would take to completely kill the other team!!!

  • yes it is. ive seen so many like that

  • who won this?

  • UC Irvine

  • 1:11 is that legal?

  • from what i understand you can run under the net as long as the ball is out of bounds on the other side

  • You have to be out of bounds. as well. that why he went on the right side of the antenna. and when you bring it back it cant go in play. I think its a new rule they used laast year.

  • yes it's legal.

  • Fosho!!

  • You have to go outside the antenna and when you bring the ball back over it also has to be outside the antenna.

  • @thecrazycritic If you mean going under the net and returning it to your side of the court, yes.

But I think the ball has to pass from outside of the antenna.

the antenna is supossed to be a reference of the "vertical extension of the net".

  • 1.15

  • luv this vid. it has nice quality other than the rest

  • 3:59 dome dump was dope

  • set at 3:46 was sickkk

  • Dpats111 is correct if the ball goes over outside the antenna on the first or second hit you can cross over the line and put it over again outside the antenna and the ball is still in play

  • UCI has the best block in the country

  • had.

  • great vid

  • this is really good, good stuff man

  • That was a really good game. I enjoyed it a lot.

  • hey when he crossed over isnt that considered line?

  • you mean around 1:12?

if so, that's called a pursuit. as long as it's the second hit and it goes outside the antennae, you can hit it again but also hitting it outside the antennae for it to be a legal play.
