  • ain't that trevor from the fresh prince?

  • @TKManUTD1989

    Goodnight and Godspeed!

  • Brian's voice makes me believe he's half-black possibly.

And Ernie's voice speaking "proudly" makes us a hint of Pumbaa. lol

  • Can this song get u laid? >:D

  • I had the pleasure of seeing this play live when i was 12 or 13 and I fucking loved it, it was soo amazing, not a second of it was boring i wish i could relive the experience i am now 20

  • i saw this at a collage play and it was incredible the actors knew what they had and mastered it, and had fun with it and entranced us with it, whoever those actors were, whoever they may be i must say i congraduate you for your incredible performances.

  • The part where Sancho comes in XD I'm a prisoner in this show currently, and yesterday we had to sing everything Capella. It was pretty funny when Sancho came in late!

  • great!I realy cannot understand who could dislike it

  • 1:08 - Quantum Leap!!! Nice reference!!

  • I was a fan of this since first reading the book Don QUixote. I learned that there was a musical was amazed by its catchy tunes and its message for everyone.

Then, just this year in English class, we did this musical, and myself, knowing the lyrics to alot of these songs, was just happily putting my soul into it. It's such a great musical/play in general to just have fun with! :)

  • ive seen the film and would absolutely love to see it live, even in the movie it was an amazing show

  • This song would be perfect for a metal artist to cover. The lyrics, the musical tone, the devlopmental rhythms would be perfect fit for a folk metal band like Ensiferum or a power metal group like Manowar. I believe the song's themes of glory, adventure and brotherhood would echo with such fans.

I could even see Iron Maiden's Bruce Dickinson playing the role on Broadway or the West End.

  • I've been addicted to this song since 4th grade in 2005 when I watched it on Quantum Leap and consequently checked out the libretto and score book from the public library. This year a show choir directed by Randy Sage actually performed this song in their comp show, and when we watched it on the coach bus, I freaked out when the band started playing, because I knew what song it was. ANother fantastic job

  • Can someone tell me why is there a statue of Don Quixote in CUBA??

  • @latin0taste1983 I don't know, but I would guess it is there because Cervantes, who wrote the original novel, was Spanish and many Cubans have Spanish ancestry and of course, speak Spanish.

  • @ChicagoSouthDan thankyou anyways

  • @latin0taste1983 Have you ever heard the expression ; Wind mill tilters? it's a referance to Don Quixote. Someone who is a windmill tiler is someone that tries to do an impossible task. Maybe the staute is about that?

  • @latin0taste1983 The sculptor was Cuban.

  • Let me just me say that I have: a) a giant man crush and 2) a huge theatre boner for Brian Stokes Mitchell.

  • Christ I forgot how amazing this was when we read this in Grade 12. Still love it!

  • קול מדהים..

אני זוכר את איש למאנשה (הפקה של גודיק?) גדעון זינגר ושלמה רודנסקי.

  • I wonder if the FBI retain books like "Don Quixote of La Mancha" in their head because if you go back and examine the letter "Army of God" you will find that it was "indirectly signed" by a "gay man" that thinks he is "INRI" or "THE WALKING SUFFERING OF JESUS" and to be a "LITERAL REFLECTION OF THE SUFFERING OF JESUS" is to be "DON QUIXOTE OF LA MANCHA (BLOOD SPOTS)". "REAL INRI" IS "THE FACE OF A EMOTIONAL SENSITIVE PERSON".

  • where can I download this? D:

Can you provide an mp3 version?

  • is it just me or does this remind anyone of the dragon roost island theme from Zelda Wind Waker?

  • @tarantinosnumber1fan It doesn't really remind me of it... but I am in your debt for reminding me of that wondrous song.

  • gotta love this song!

  • stokes is beast!

  • Ever since I've seen this play, I've had this song stuck in my head :P

    It's catchy

  • Our school is doing this musical this year as our fall musical:) they started their first one tonight and then goes through Saturday(: I love it, especially our person who plays the main character

  • I AM DON QUIXOTE, MAN OF LA MANCHA!!!

  • i have to sing this song for class... I'm a high tenor.... this isnt going to work..

  • @MrUkuraa sing Sancho's part

  • @MrUkuraa Yeah, I've been told to use this song to audition for Percy from the scarlet pimpernel, also a high tenor... I'm not sure how it's going to work out :P

  • I saw him onstage opening this show - I'd really like to SEE it again, not just hear it. Is there video?

  • @tallyho96 There is none that I know of. If someone had one that would befantastic

  • @tallyho96

The NYPL for the Performing Arts have a video of this. It is available for anyone doing research (but you have to be researching something, and you have to watch it in the library).

  • Nunca debio ser en un idioma que no fuera el español.

  • @kreamlingdude Estoy de acuerdo, yo soy una estadounidense (lo siento si esa es un error) y mucho gente probalmente piensan que Don Quixote es un personaje Inglés. ¡q risa!

  • BRB doing something heroic. I don't even care what, I just want to make the world a better place now.

  • Sancho is so awesomely camp.

  • i can make a gears of war montage with this

  • I am pretty young, and i hear all of these people saying how "aweful" Man Of La Mancha is . But i personally love it! I sing it everymorning JKJK but i like the songs!

  • @kvtsworld people who say its aweful have no taste in old culture

  • @kvtsworld You're a smart person. Don't listen to them.

  • @jazzy1003 i do hahahah nice way of putting it LOL

  • @AngelOfMusic144 I'd say more like dark chocolate espresso beans :)

  • @AngelOfMusic144 one of the best comments ive ever seen hahahaha

  • i saw this play a few years back. killer good.

  • don quijote comepollas xD

  • i love this song alot!! everytime i want to hit on a girl i always hear this song and it works LOL

  • that`s true magic!

  • LOL thats funny but I can see how that works

  • My school made a production of Man of La Mancha and it was amazing! One of the lines was "I see a castle(really an inn) and a flag that has a cat on it. It reads Meow".

  • My school also did, and had the same line, they all should te3cancly, the play is still under copywright so when preforming it they need to have premition and they cant cut out or edit any of the lines.

  • i sang this for choir, my favorite song of all time

  • don quijote rulz

  • So does Miguel de Cervantes y Saavedra.

  • Brian Stokes Mitchell performed with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir last December. What a stud! I never thought he'd amount to anything after playing Trevor Collins on the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

  • thnx for this, marius, it's great!

  • Pumbaa!

  • I love Brian Stokes Mitchell's voice, its gorgeous.

  • All I listen to is hardcore rap, but man of lamancha is one of the best musical plays ever

  • Image at 0:58 is from Quantum Leap, right?

I remember seeing this play once. It was great. It was a pleasant to see it on Quantum Leap.

  • Yeah it is. Don't know what the guy's called without digging up my copy of QL though.

  • could you ask for a better childhood hero?

  • hahaha he will always be Pumbaa to me :)

  • I'm pretty sure I just fell in love with this song.

  • possibly one of my favorite songs ever.

  • I saw the movie and I have the soundtrack, I love this song!!!

  • jaman!

  • We did this show at for our theater department and I loved it. This was one of my favorite songs!

  • I would love to take my children to see it. It completely blew me away when I saw it as a teenager. The music just gets into your soul. Beautiful!

  • i still love it after two weeks have passed!

    (^^)b

  • exeptionnelle

  • does anybody know how it is called in spanish?

  • I went to this play, GO TO IT!!!

    it is soooooo great!!!

its one of the only musicals i actually like.

    lol.

  • where cna i get this version?!?!

  • This was better than the version of placido domingo

  • Don is like saying Sir. Donna is like saying Madame.

WHY HAVNT I SEEN THIS AWESOMENESS BEFORE!?

  • *stoods on her chair* i am i don quixote!!

    haha i love this song,

i performed it two days ago!

*sniffs* i miss the stage though...

    and my Sancho...

  • Actors rule!

  • Techies are better ;P

  • I guess they're equally necessary.

But acting is so much more fun!

  • Doesnt the name DON Quixote kind of insinuate a man?

  • em my character's name is Donna....

    Donna = Don!!!

  • ha ha ha there we go then! Im sure you performed and sang wonderfully. I would have loved to have seen it, Man of La Mancha is one of my favorite plays.

  • thanks! =D

  • Don=Mr. in spanish

  • Señor is Mister = Sr. is Mr.

Don is more of a formal title given to gentlemen/noblemen or out of respect to older men.

It is still very much in use today throughout the Spanish speaking nations.

  • actually during the time of of Cervantes Don was the owner of the plantation or land so it is a honorary title

  • i just use it so its easier to remember. "donkey hotay". lol.

    hotay is harder, tho. XD

  • the same that Mr. actuallity

  • i am i don quixhote the lord of... Lamp.....

  • WOW! I just came here, cause I´ve read Brent Spiner did this musical last month, and now I´m totally overwhelmed with OMGs, never expected this is sooooo catchy and the instruments..wow.. I love it!!!!!! hopefully they´ll do a CD, too with Spiners version *faint*

Now is is ART! 5* thank you for uploading and bringing me into this masterpiece of art

  • i agree. some of the songs are good but the play itself is nothing special.

  • actually, it's called a dialect, not an accent, if you want to be precise

  • Does Don Quixote have to roll his R's? I've never seen this musical. Lol

  • its called an accent.

  • I know he doesn't do it in this song, I just mean does he have to do it at all?

  • Great recording, though a little musical-theatery at times

  • Thank You . It is wonderful and uplifting

  • this song is the 11th commandment

  • lol. yes it is! and the 12th is dream the impossible dream!

  • YAY, i have the CD at home .... great.

  • I just love Brian Stokes Mitchelle's voice as Don Quixote. I saw this play in Providence RI. It was amazing. This song is so amazing. and so much fun to listen to. Haven't listened to it in a while. This is a musical that will definatly change your life.

  • This song is addicting.

  • What an absolutely brilliant and stirring song. Thanks very much for uploading!

  • AWESOME SONG!!!

We're doing La Mancha this year...this recording can't be topped...

  • great! thanks for posting!

  • Love this song!

  • I saw a local production of this. They aren't Broadway performers, but I am still proud of what our local cast pulled off :) Better than a lot of the off-Broadway ones you find on youtube

  • The definitive version is, of course, the Mathis version.

  • oh man i saw this cast's final performance and brian stokes mitchell was bawling at the end

    it was an amazing performance

  • Stirring rendition of a classic.

  • I can't get enough of this song!

  • SAME!! lol i saw it for the first time last night and i was sining this song all day!! i love this show in all!!

  • magnifico!

  • OLE!!!!!

  • Eccelent!

  • Go Sancho! <3

  • Excellent! I can hear the windmills calling

    for a fight.

  • Brian Stokes Mitchell recorded this in a CD??? Exciting... love him in Ragtime and saw him here in North York Centre... of course, with the great Audra McDonald.

  • thats song sounds so cool...

    n the story is awesome!!!

  • Where could I piano sheet music for this? I would love to learn this song.

  • Man of La Mancha of Don Quixote, was origanaaly a book by Cervantes, a poet iprisioned by the Spanish Inquisition.

  • nope not a POET mate! did poetry but not the best at that...

  • I can't find it. Colm Wilkinson I believe was in the original Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables. His versions of Empty Chairs at Empty Tables and Bring Him Home are just wonderful. In his version of Man of la Mancha, Sancho Panza was sung by Mike Batt I believe.

  • Colm did not sing Empty Chairs. He was never Marius. He was always Val Jean. And he was not in the original Phantom of the Opera he was in one of the revivals.

  • Colm Wilkinson sings "Empty Chairs.." on his Stage Heroes CD.

  • Oh really?? I have never heard that CD. But that's interesting. Thank you!!

  • Colm was the original Phantom. He preformed it in Sydmonton before Andrew Lloyd Webber ever put it on the West End with Michael Crawford. Just wanted to let you know! :-)

  • He was not the original Broadway Phantom. Andrew Lloyd Webber first put it on with is wife and Michael Crawford. Maybe he did in it a foreign country first but Andrew Lloyd Webber wrote th music and therefor his is the original.

  • I know Michael Crawford was officially the first Phantom but before it was put on stage Lloyd Webber tried it out in his own theatre for some of his friends and Colm Wilkinson was the phantom in that first production with Sarah Brightman as Christine and that was a once off preformance by him. It was only later when the script was changed a bit that it was released with Michael Crawford originating the role on the West End and later on Broadway.

  • Oh!! Well then it doesn't really, really count. HAHA!! But that's pretty interesting. :) Thanks

  • No problem!

I think I know a bit too much about it! :P

But what you were saying is pretty much right as well!

  • HAHA!! :) Yea I agree. :)

  • Fabulous song but not a patch on the Colm Wilkinson version. I once heard, many years ago, Allan Jones singing this. It was on a chat show, and Jack Jones was with him. Anyone else remember this?

  • Would Colm's version happen to be on Youtube?

  • Yes but that wasn't before this one. This was first. And the problem with Colm(I love him in Les Mis) but he doesn't have a large enough and deep enough voice for this part.

  • THE STOKES PWNS ALL.

    SRSLY.

  • The Revival is better than the original. Mitchell's Voice fits perfectly for Don Quixote. I wish I saw Mitchell as Quixote, But I didn't. I got to see someone else. I forgot who it was though, But this show is truly amazing.

  • I love this song! I was in the mens chorus @ my high school and we sang this! It's so great! Great voices.

  • lol john barrowman wants to play this characeter , gotta love this song , so powerful

  • Greatful song!

  • i love man of la mancha!!!!!!!
