In how far does this need a 20MHz CPU? ;-) From what I see this could just as well been done with a standard Commodore REU extended to 2MB and some DMAs for bitmap/sample replay...
@Thunderblade64: your demo kicks ass! :-) it's just one of the rare demos that use the SuperCPU hardware. if you have any suggestions about good SuperCPU compos I should capture, please let me know!
Hi folks, this demo was done by me in 1997. I'm surprised that it's still being discussed after so many years. It was never meant to be better than any of the top standard C64 demos, it was done just for fun! And it's impossible to do on a standard C64. The SuperCPU's processing power is not really used here, but still it would be hard to do with an 1 MB REU.
Wow ... a digi as known from various plus/4 demos and some jerky screen transformations, which have been done on a plain c64 in a nicer way (i.e. andropolis) ... absolutely NOT worth the retarded ammount of money GEOS-jerks pay for this.
If only the guys at Booze Design decided to do a demo using a SuperCPU. It'd be amazing. It's incredible to think that their Edge of Disgrace demo just blows this one out of the water, and they have like, 1/20th the processing power available.
Full screen repainting while playing a sound sample. Completely impossible on a stock C64 w/out a SuperCPU. Unfortunately, it *does* look like crap :-)
The problem is that it's doing LESS. This demo doesn't even hint at the SuperCPU's power, and it can't compare to the stuff coded for the "bog standard c64", or even for the Spectrum. Effects? I'm not seeing them.
And where the heck is the demo? It's just a rotating logo with a rocksong in the background... pretty amazing... *yawn*. For this stuff you'll need a SuperCPU? Can't be true...
The closest thing to that is Nuvie Player for the c64, which can play just over a minute of 320x200 30fps video on a commodore 64 with a 16mb ram expansion in the form of an add on cartridge. Just in case you haven't came across it since your post.
@fucktube65 show us the sourcecode please! :-)

@tomconte How could this possibly kick? What a most boring demo... :p

@e5frog : looks like YT downgraded the video quality to 240p ... I'll try to find my original capture & re-upload it to a higher quality

Where did the music come from on the actual demo?
I really like it for some reason.
Sounds like it came straight from the 80's.

@1337Shockwav3 Andropolis was released in 2009, this one I did in 1997... and to code the screen animation probably took me only 5 minutes... :-)
Thunderblade64 1 year ago
@Thunderblade64 Okay, I guess the 5 minute thing is a valid argument :)

@tomconte BS, stuff like this is child's play with DMA on a 1751 REU.... Nothing here *requires* a SCPU!

doesn't even resemble anything we love about the c64. No sid, no cool scrollers, nothin.

lol.. because it's using a SUPER CPU.. which allows you to do more.. it's not a bog standard c64

Frakk this crap, even on a plain C64 we can see better effects... Go for "The Edge of Disgrace" demo instead.

Is it possible to program a DVD like player for the Super CPU enhanced C64?
