  • I'm more comfortable tucking my elbows in front of my stomach, rather than leaving them by my side. Can you do that? Or you wont get the same results.

  • Funny how most of the things that are mentioned in videos like this can be found for free by doing some research on the internet.

  • I have one question about barbell curls and dumbell hammer curls. Should you keep your hands close grip as possible for maximum muscle and strength building?

  • @xkruulx

Close grip works more of the outer head of the biceps. Wide grip works more of the inner head of the biceps. You can do exercises with both grips if you like.

  • @leemhayward thanks for ur permission sir

  • so this is kinda like a drag curl. barbell curls hurt my elbows, even w easy bar. also i think standard curls are stupid, and i don't feel em in my biceps. feel very unnatural to me. thanx, guys.

  • It's not heavy for a guy who weighs f**king 250lbs.

  • LOL!!!!!

  • lee hayward rocks man

  • but isnt power curls a power movment so form doesnt have to be 100% in terms of you can throw your butt into it thisis what lee haney said

  • but isnt power curls a power movment so form doesnt have to be 100%

  • Good video, and good pointers on barbell curl. But man, I can't stand guys that do barbell curls in the squat rack. Lol. You'll probably get bigger biceps doing squats in the squat rack than doing biceps curls in the squat rack. Think about that.

  • @bongapendo

The gym I train at has 4 squat racks and I've yet to be in the gym when all 4 are being used at the same time. And when I'm in shooting videos like this (late at night) there usually isn't even a single person doing squats. So while it may bug you to see someone racking a bicep curl on the end of the squat rack, we aren't hindering anyone's workout or preventing anyone from squatting.

  • @leemhayward

Good for you! My gym has only two squat racks, one traditional squat rack and one squat rack for retarded people, I think it's called a smith machine. Imagine my irritation when the traditional squat rack is occupied by some twig-legged guy doing biceps curls. I would try the smith machine, alas I am not retarded enough.

  • @leemhayward

I can understand that. My gym only has one squat rack, so I'm sure you can understand my point of view. Lol.

  • LOL, 141 pages for biceps, pointless.

  • @Gmanx16

You've obviously never read the book. It covers A LOT more than just biceps. The key to getting bigger arms is to get bigger and stronger all over. It covers training for all your major muscle groups, the proper training mindset, goal setting, how to choose a proper bodybuilding gym to help push you forward with your workouts. This is a very complete training guide.

  • lee hayward is king

  • do u feel any pain in ure wrsits when u do this? cuz i duno why but i do and i hate it :(

and do u think theres any difference between using a EZ bar and a straight bar??

  • @xKINGkhanSRKx

Yes there is a difference, the straight bar works the biceps harder. You'll get a better peak contraction in the muscles. It's more uncomfortable, but you'll get used to it.

  • @leemhayward

damn man, really? cuz seriously every time i do any reps with a straight bar at all it wrecks my wrists, like they honestly feel half broken, good form and all..

  • @steevojackass

If you have to just start doing your warm up sets with the straight bar and then do your heavy sets with the EZ bar. Overtime you'll get used to the straight bar and be able to handle heavier weights with it.

  • @xKINGkhanSRKx

use EZ bar.. i have same problem. what help me was straightening my forearms, but that does not always work and can make your wrist worse. i use EZ bar 80% for bi curls

  • Dave's technique works wonders (constant stress). Lee, what is the best bicep workout in your opinion, hammer curls and/or the close grip??

  • i wanna buy this blast your bicep thing but can i find better ones any tips.

  • @nisarakbari You will not find a better one Lee gives you like %00 bucks worth and won't leave you guessing when you're done he'll tell you the next step in your journey...and of course 100% money back guarantee for 60 days..as Lee says "Go for it man"

  • Yeah, I cheat a little bit when I'm using 25s. That sh*t is heavy for me.

  • why do people wear hats when they work out :\?

  • So they don't have to comb their hair before they go to the gym :-)

  • mine keeps the sweat out of my eyes!

  • @leemhayward 5 stars for comedy :)

  • @tugsnap to keep sweat out of your eyes, you don't know because you never sweat

  • @tugsnap

to keep your vagina out of the way

  • no wonder this guy can lift heavier weight anyone could this guy is swingin the barbell towards him and not giving his biceps the work that they should be doing.... and another thing , whats with the back bent and leaning forward? .. your back always stays straight, knees slightly bent and feet shoulders width, keep elbows tucked in at same position all the time(fact)! without swingin the barbell up it will actually be working the bicep muscle, really dont know what this guys about

  • wheres your videos? it obviously works for him look at his size.

  • i'm a personal trainer... just because someones size doesn't mean they are doing right work you have watched a youtube video how do u know what supplements hes takin or whatever... guys come in to my gym everyday that are built like tanks, do full body workouts which is wrong and the guy next to him has not got a big a build as him but works to a diet, routine and can lift heavier weight!! because the big guys that are comming in are on the use of steroids.

  • @P3SCI OOOOOOO a personal Trainer...dang dude anyone can become a personal trainer but it takes a chump to jump right into steroid talk these guys are natural BB's go talk about Steroids on some other Video...Here we speak of awesomeness(not meaning to sound like an asshole or Knock your Profession i'm just saying) haha

  • @murphy0847 P3SCI is right By bringing your whole body into the act, by swaying your back to help up the weight, you end up getting a lot more than just your biceps involved. Your shoulders and back end up contributing to the lifting, taking work away from the biceps. You also run a risk of injury. You don't really develop biceps strength this way. Plus, it looks silly.

  • @1BrianConway5 i wasn't responding to that i was responding to his steroid talk which is unnecessary on a natural BB video...

  • @P3SCI totally agree with you bro, the momentum this guy is getting by swinging the bar like that is helping him curl the bar to easily, this ex is meant to be an isolation exercise not a compound exercise!

  • Its ok to cheat the weight, your NEVER gonna get strong or big by doing striaght pussy proper GAY form

  • I don't really understand this. What makes them power bar curls? He's able to lift more weight because he is using a little bit of momentum? Can someone explain this?

  • Just re-watch the video and Dave explains the technique he uses.

  • You clearly do not understand what the term means if you attribute it to one side of a subjective argument.

  • ? Showed me what exactly?

  • "Big Dave" had a LOT of upper body motion during his curls...an obvious sign of trying to lift above your true capacity.

    Ego lifter.

  • Yeah. Please tell the guy who is bigger than you that he's doing it wrong.

  • A) Weightlifting is not a competition. If a 70 pound women corrected my technique, and she is correct, it's as pertitent as if a 350 Powerlifter did.

    B) You have *no* idea what my weightlifting experience/proficiency is.

  • Not a competition? That's interesting. They must hand out all those medals for shits and giggles then. If a 70 pound woman who was smaller than me gave me training advice, I would have no reason to think she would be right. "If you want to know about the mountain, ask the man who climbs it everyday." The 350lb lifter climbs it.

This dude has big arms. To tell him he's doing it wrong when he has big arms just doesnt make any sense.

  • So because there are weightlifting competitions, that makes ALL weightlifting inherently competitive? And people who have bigger muscles know more about weightlifting by definition than those who have smaller muscles?

I apologize, I had no idea you were 15 years old/delusional.

  • I dont think either one of us is an any position to speculate anything about ALL weightlifting. We can infer that this man ( a competitive bodybuilder) lifts for competitive reasons.

To answer your second question, as an absolute, no. But generally, if someone is bigger, they probably know more about lifting than someone smaller. Just as a better soccer player knows more than a less experienced one and a richer businessman knows more about making money than a poor guy. It's pretty intuitive.

  • The problem with your analogy is that size does not equal success in weightlifting.

I BET you I could HUMBLE anyone that I put through *my* leg workout, and while my legs are PRETTY big, they are not "holy shit" big.

  • Didn't you just say weightlifting isn't competitive?

I've never seen you train. I don't know how intense you train or what numbers you put up. I'm not sure why that's relevant. I do know that, barring the bantam weight class, you cannot win a bodybuilding show unless you have size. Yes, you need symmetry and leanness, but the MOST important thing in bodybuilding is size. So, in bodybuilding size doesnt equal success, but you cant have success without size.

  • You are obviously very young, very stupid, and/or a very good actor.

My leg workout being so difficult is WHY weightlifting is not a competition. Many guys with bigger legs than me WOULD NOT be able to get through my workout, and I am sure there are plenty of "small guys" who could outlift me, P4P.

As soon as your ego becomes the reason you are lifting for, it's time to step away from the gym, because ego will not sustain you. That type of lifter is an insincere lifter, and won't last.

  • Attempts at ad hominem arguments (young, stupid, etc.) have no place in a reasonable discussion.

I'm not even sure what's being argued now, since you brought up your workout.

Back to the video. The man has built big arms with this "bad" form. He is a bodybuilder. In bodybuilding, your goal is bigger muscles. The best form is that which trashes the target muscle. So, it doesnt matter if his upper sways or not. It matters if his biceps are stimulated.

  • How do you know he built those "big arms" with his bad technique? How do you know he didn't use steroids, or use proper technique up until recently?

And I find it humorous that you attempt to lecture me in proper unbiased, rational discussion methods.

  • Glad I could humor you. But, once again, not relevant.

He's showing one of his favorite arm exercises. It seems reasonable to believe that if he's doing one of his favorites, he's used it alot.

Not sure what steroids have to do with anything. As if using steroids means you just grow or something, regardless of training, diet, or intensity.

We have no reason to think he used "proper" technique and all of the sudden loosened up in this video.

Once again, good form=that which trashes the target.

  • I tried this variation and it works really good, thanks

  • Damn, Dave is curling what I bench. Lol that guys a beast

  • yes he definitely is muscle. Has anyone seen customizedworkoutplans (.com) fitness blog. Its legit

  • The best is the Vince Gironda body drag!!

  • I'm 6'1'' buddy ;)

  • Man that is one thiiiiick canadian accent! Is losing form ALL that important? I mean if the weight is heavier and you're using other muscles to lift that weight then that is more of a compound exercise than an isolation so really its gonna help you gain size because nothing tells the body to grow more than big compound exercises aka. squats deadlifts etc etc... I appreciate losing form can lead to injury but you know, just a thought!

  • NNNoooo, if you have to "cheat" on all but the last rep or two, you should lower your lifting weight, because your ego is trying to lift the weight, not your intended muscles.

  • many thanks to dave for the cook book

  • You're welcome! :)

  • He is muscular

  • hey lee is that a hookah in ur desk

  • lee i hope you realize that today (11/26) is thanksgiving so you probably wont get nearly as many viewers on your show.

  • Yes, I know. But as they say... the show must go on :-)

Besides it's only Thanksgiving Day in the USA and we get viewers from all over the world.

  • OMG these guys are so hot !

  • awesome

  • Actually that's not much rocking back and forth at all. To see what I mean I'd suggest that you video yourself using really strict form. I'm willing to bet there will be more "rocking" involved then you realize, even though you consider your form strict.

  • love the stuff lee you always have tips and never just fill my emails up with dont forget to buy this from this guy kind of shit you just have good old information keep it up, thanks.
