  • Mac is not even close to a tweakable as Windows. Your going on about how you use different software to change basic options in Mac, the point is, with Windows you can customize a whole lot more and without using some next software to do it.

  • you seem to have quite good gear...how about a better camera or better internet connection/upload speed to give us better video quality?

  • @Zarathrusta I'm guessing that with "Device Manager" you mean that you can use Windows with alot of hardware?

  • WANT TO MAKE YOUR IBOOK RUN 50% MORE EFFICIENT AT HOME? GET 4 1" SPACERS ,(I USED 4 10 MIL SOCKETS) USE THEM FOR FEET SO YOUR IBOOK IS SITTING ON THEM. DONT WORRIE IT STAYS IN POSITION VERY WELL. PLACE A DESK FAN ABOUT 5" AWAY FROM IT BLOWING ACROSS AND UNDER. YOU WILL NOT BELIVE HOW COOL YOUR IBOOK WILL RUN.A COOLER RUNING PROCESSOR & BOARD MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE .AND WILL ALSO ADD TO THE LONGEVITY OF ANY COMPUTER . TRY IT !!

  • To be honest there is no better than linux in what comes to tweakcapulnes.

  • Nice job Thanks

  • what the hell is tweaking?

  • @lovehate399 Something that someone who's been with computers for more than 2 weeks HOPEFULLY knows about... (If they even want to THINK about customizing their machine.)

  • win 7 is the most tweakable get real

  • Holy shit. You sound like the professor from The Simpsons, that guy with the lab coat, can't remember his name at the moment, but he's the guy that's all geeky and weird and wears a lab coat and round glasses with a funny short haircut, oh and has two buckteech sticking out. Also talk a bit abruptly and I believe his name starts with an F. But you really sound like that guy, all into your specs and geekyness. Macs are cool, I just hate that modern electronics are all mianly made in China.

  • @syndrome666 OMG haa yes he does :P professor frink :L

  • This guy is so geaky

  • @rANdomiZER5273 geeky* :P

  • i think i hit control + option + command + 4. and it alligned my desktop perfectly. But i didnt it on accident and idk how to undo it! anyone know?

  • what the shit?

i used my scroll wheel while i was holding contol and suddenly the text is massive bu the screen hassnt zommed in on bit. that was not a very good one of my system alterations.

  • hey try to do some interesting not just talking

the people is getting bored with your videos

  • your videos are great but i cant watch them to the end. You have to get to the point. yo piss me the fuck off. you know your shit, ill give you that. But get to the point buddy please.

  • you fricken lazy. evn when my internetz is going at 12 kbps i can stillz watch this.

  • Chris dont worry i always watch the show its even live on my myspace

  • Macs were "Tweakable" way back in the day, like way back to 1984. We had "Control Panels", that you could purchase or find via disks and then eventually the web, that would let you do all kinds of stuff for your system, like double your RAM via software, double your system speed via software, change the whole user interface, change all system sounds and alerts.

OS X of course takes it even further, you can run every version of Windows ever simultaneously.

  • what the hell is tweak

  • tweak basically means to change configurations of the settings to improve the user-experience. eg Improve Performance.

  • I should go to bed. Haven't slept for 48 hours and I'm pretty sure he just said that you can use a main menu to clean out the fuck cache.

Although I highly doubt that's what he said.

  • u talk to much.

    just get to the point.

  • he said OS 10 like 50 times man,

+ at like 30 seconds he said x is the roman numeral for 10,listen newfag.

  • It's X for "uniX"

  • thought it was 10 but unix also makes sense.

  • lol. It's pronounced Mac OS TEN. not EX. Idiot.

  • Looks like you're the idiot. He was spelling out the url.

  • What screensaver is that?

I can't find it on the internet!!!

  • google -->  Fenetres volantes

  • TY I found it already

  • BEST WINDOWS TWEAK EVER, RIGHT HERE!!!

    YOU READY?

    HERE WE GO!

12 GUAGE SHOTGUN AND 2 SLUGS!!!

    i will never go back!

  • nice tweak ^_-

  • I tweak in the registry. That's the best way. :D

  • i have a bunch of tweaking programs, i even have a whole folder of them like superdocker, tinkertool, etc.

  • Can you post them somewere?? I have been looking for something that can protect my mac and also help it run faster....some fun stuff would be cool too...Im sure im not the only one that wants to know....

  • Well, my macbook is currently down at the moment, so I am on my old iMac G3, but I can tell you, all the special tweaks that I got, were from appls's downloads page (SO MANY AWESOME THINGS THERE). You should check them out.

  • linux is a tweaker's DREAM, have you head about compiz fusion? its just amazing. you don't need any downloaded stuff (apart from compiz...) and you can sit there all day customizing and tweaking

  • Tweaking what? Childish eyecandy? Compiz will die next year anyway. Gnome 3 will break compiz and KDE 4 has already broken it.

  • Secrets.prefpane anyone?

  • you need some screen capture software?!

  • Mac OS 8 and 9 were tweak-able as well... Anybody who says you can't tweak Mac OS are just ignorant.

  • anyone who would stick with PC just for "tweakability" is fuckin retarded.

"so what if you have a sleek black shiny laptop, it has vista!!

thats like a hot chic with herpes!"

  • LOL....Oh I loved this comment! I so agree with you.

  • that would be a bummer

  • Originally, Macs didn't crash. Now they do. However, the problem is bad RAM. When you get a new Mac, buy some new RAM from crucial, directly form their site. Throw out the Ram your computer came with. I have had NO crashes since Crucial. Macs crash cuz of bad RAM.

    AND STAY AWAY FROM GSKIL!

  • Hey Chris i have a Question that maybe you can help me to have an answer.... why mac users install boot camp or Parallels Deskto to run windows? and another is did you see the PWN to OWN competition? its is true that the virus doesn't get the virus attack because is not worth to the company's/virus market? Im like a little nerd to understand all of this can u give me a hand?

  • The ultimate tinker tool for a mac is the terminal, a couple of bash scripts and you can do pretty much anything!

  • they need to make an OS X and Vista for iphone and ipod touch. And Flash Player.

  • huh??

  • iPhone and iPod touch already run OS 10. It is a modded version of OS X to run.

  • they run IPHONE OS 2 going on to OS 3, einstein

  • I KNOW, Einstein!

  • what do you mean I KNOW?? you said something completely different!!

  • he was just saying that the iphones OS is just a modded version of OS X which is IPHONE OS 2

  • TweakVI for Vista and Tweak UI for XP. Love them both. TweakVI gives you more though.

  • How to tweak??? can you actually show how to do it, instead of just talking and saying one OS is more tweakable than the other? A screen recorder might help you do the job!

  • you might want to use an app that shows your viewers what your looking at rather than having them just watching you and trying to look over your shoulder.

  • i agree, chris should get a screen recording program. ishowu is pretty good. there are other ones too that are good.

  • What's that screensaver called that you use in the video where your apps are flying around?

    Thanks

  • Fenetres volantes.

  • english plzz :)

  • ROFL that is the name of the screensaver. Sorry! :)

  • I just found this really great site! Yall should check it out.

macadvice.t35.comn (exept without the n at the end of com)

  • when I first switched to mac(JAGUAR)I messd up my system so much I saw the black screen of death

  • nnnneeeerrrrddd

  • nice!!! thx

  • hah wow your stupid.

  • why ?

  • because for one vista is shit. and mac os x is a great OS.

  • Have a girlfriend?

  • He is married to Ponzi

  • FOUR NICE LETTERS FOR YOU : G E E K

  • lol..

  • Mac is so much easier to tweak now... , the apps have expanded widely, and with the intel now, its opened a new world to mac developers and 3rd party programmers all over the world... mac is becoming the number 1 computer platform because of its ability to run linux, windows (all), all at native speeds... "that includes games" for all the pc gamers out there.

Nice vid... keep up the good work :D

  • Not true. Right click ability is built into OS X, but not the mouse that older macs came with.

    1. Before Leopard: Buy a $12 PC mouse.

    2. Now: Buy a new $60 Apple mouse or see above.

    3. Control click.

  • it IS built into the mouse also.. you just don't know..

you can turn that on in the mouse options-menu...

don't talk when you don't know

  • No, idiot, on older Macs right click is NOT built into the soap bar mouse.

Right click function IS built into the newer Mac mice, but not the older ones. However, the ability has been built into OS X for a while, so you could use a 2-button PC mouse with Tiger.

I work with new and old Macs on a daily basis, and I'm telling you that you are dead wrong. How about you don't speak what you don't know.

If you don't believe me, go buy the previous generation soap bar mouse and try to right click.

  • ooh ok but you should have said you where talking about the older ones

    we're both right then...

Older macs don't and "newer"(current) mac do

  • What? You can right click on Macs my mac mouse has 4 buttons :)

  • u can right click with a mac, even with the mighty mouse though it only shows that there is one clicker, u can go into system preferences and choose an option that will allow u to right click if u press on the right hand portion of the mouse

  • holding two fingers on the scrollpad whilst clicking the mouse button has the same effect as right clicking.

  • how about, run any good game lol

  • The computer industry doesn't revolve ONLY around games you know... and the whole world at that.

  • SandSpro->as noob as he could ever be

  • I can backup my registry after Ive changed it on windows. Is this possible on a Mac? If so, can you please tell me how. Or show me...

    Thanks.

  • Mac doesnt have registers.... Thats why mac is superior

  • I think the Mac equivalent of the registry is the library, which I'm sure can easily be backed up.

  • 2.For anything that you can not find because it is hiden in the menus' there is a search at the help menu that it will find it instandly for you. And defintely is different from the ordinary search that windows also have).

  • Do I hate the Mac today, no there is alot of features in Leopard that I really like like spaces there are more I just caint think of them. Now on Ubuntu I installed it but I like the interface and the cube 3d thing but migrating from Windows to this is not a good Idea it will not recognize my sound or video files so I dumbed and went back to Vista Ultimate which has gave me 0 BSOD's or any other problem so I will stick with Windows till I can get a Mac but they are a bit expensive for me.

  • audio and video iles can be played onUbuntu (srry for grammere errors, my keyboard is funking up

  • back in 2007 I never knew there was a Mac I knew there was Apple cause I saw the Ipod but I never knew there was a Mac.

In late 2007 I found out about Mac and more about apple at first I never liked it because I saw someone do a Mac vs PC video and he was bashing on widows saying it was crap and I started bashing on the Mac.

Now I like all operating systems equaly I still prefer Windows but if I ever get the money to get a Mac I will just to try it out. I used Ubuntu but I never liked it.

  • To be honest OS X Leopard is more customizable than Vista is at this point.

  • chris is the best

  • Iam only joking ! Haha

  • 158.69.38.1 - My Mac IP Address !

  • thanks!

  • I know a huge hole in MacOS Ex. Someone on Youtube I dare you to post your IP address if you are on a Mac.

  • You honestly think that Mac OS X is such a terrible OS that Apple deliberately left a gigantic hole in it? It was probably patched in the latest Mac OS X update anyways. So what's this "huge hole"? I really wanna know so I can prove you wrong and verbally abuse you for a couple hours.

  • 1. IP's can be changed in seconds. I can do it in 2 minutes on this Windows box I'm using right now.

    2. The firewall would probably block their attempt anyways.

    3. You know UNIX commands? Good luck getting very far.

    4. An IP doesn't mean shit. Just because you see the door doesn't mean you can get inside.

  • You can change your IP by releasing it and shutting off your internet for however long I think. I know a security hole but I'm not telling anyone. It will take forever for anyone to figure out the flaw and by the time they do, they can't reverse the damage I have already done! MWAHAHAHAHA

  • Meh. It sounds like you just found some random ass shit off Google and copied and pasted it into notepad and hid it for safekeeping. It probably just involves deleting critical system files which could be reversed with Carbon Clone Copy or Time Machine anyways. You won't explain this retarded "security hole" because you know that I know about Mac OS X security features and such.

  • is there a way to bring menus down to their respective windows, like on Windows, instead of having one single bar at the top?

  • No, that's an exclusive feature that can't be changed.

I don't know why you would want it off the menubar (hints the name), that saves the pixel space the menu would generate.

  • one word: "workflow"

because if I have my app on the second monitor I would need to go to that monitor to select the app to "generate" that menubar on my main monitor, then go back to my main monitor to do whatever I need to do, then go back to the second monitor and so on and so forth

I don't see how you preffer to move your mouse all over the screen from top to bottom all the time just to save some pixels...

  • howd u film for more then ten minuts

  • Directors accounts get given priviledges to upload more than 10 minutes of video =p

  • how do you become a director?

  • you can set your account type in your settings.

  • go into your youtube account profile and change it from there

  • "how do you become a director?"

Doesn't really matter. They no longer offer that type of Director Account. There are other sites though where you can post videos as long as you like.

  • Classic Director accounts, or the ones about a year ago to 3/4 a year ago and older.

  • What was the screen saver that was displayed on his Dual Monitors from his MAC? Flying Applications??

  • Just Google "Mac OS X flying windows screen saver". Its easy to find.

  • lazy ppl :P

  • Hi, can you share some comments on systernals Suite for Windows XP/Vista? Thanks

  • i use main menu all teh time. best system tweak app there is for osx for free

  • Just a thought.. Think you should remove the Title/Date/Time just to regain that space to make the video slightly bigger. Maybe have that info flash up for a few seconds at start of video then go away.

  • That's in the live feed, it just follows onto the recorded stream.

It would be a hassle to disable it when he records, which is roughly 5 times a day.

    >.>

  • But is it even necessary on live stream? Could it not be moved to a java script above the video feed? why would it need to be part of the video??

  • THX Chris! Kudos!

  • Nice

  • "Does anyone know if there is a tweak to adjust the brightness of the screen?"

System Preferences > Display. There is a slider for the screen brightness so you can set it to whatever you want.

  • Does Chris change the background of his monitors everyday?

  • theres a program for mac osx that makes your background change every 15 minutes

  • Uh, yeah, that's called OSX.

    That is a standard feature...

  • probally has it set to auto change to a random photo

  • Does anyone know if there is a tweak to adjust the brightness of the screen?

Namely, something that will let you adjust the brightness in smaller increments?

The gap between the lowest setting and off just seems too big sometimes.

  • I never really put much thought into how tweakable OSX is. Then again, I haven't really tweaked my operating system at all.

  • Yeah, Another good one is OnyX. :D

  • hmm did he get a new laptop O_O ...seems bigger than the old one

  • "did he get a new laptop O_O ...seems bigger than the old one"

Its a 17" MBP, the same size its always been.

  • nice tip
