The East German border soldiers were under orders, had they not done their jobs, their families would have been taken never to be seen again. The President of East Germany "Honniker" did go to prison for two years. I was a US Soldier on the West side. We weren't allowed to shoot back unless they shot directly at us which happened only once. It was an awful time and these idiots talk about it like some video game. Really pisses me off.

I'm forty-seven years old. Sixty? Why would you think that? I do stand corrected on that shithead Honniker, he didn't serve a day. He escaped to Brazil. Only one man stood tall and took the blame for the DDR's shoot to kill orders. He did serve two years in prison but I respect him for admitting wrongful death. The whole thing was sideways, the Soviets called the shots not the East Germans. Hell, I almost married a girl from Dresden. She was born into a communist nation. Not her fault.
