Of course not. The other animals are just insensitive, plus the writers needed to move the story on. They also needed some comic relief, to lighten things up for the kids with such a terrible thing happening but his grief itself isn't funny.
It was a shame that the male pheasant died, because it seemed that he was going to turn into a better person after the death of his mate. Pheasants are also beautiful animals.
Mr.Pheasant was selfish, but now he is upset because like allot of people today, it is not until the person dies is when you realize all they did for you. Now Mr. pheasant knows he was wrong and he feels sorry for what he did. I feel bad for him, and i hate the others for not caring Mrs.pheasant died.
I feel Mrs Hare was sorry for Pheasant but it was a bit annoying for him to keep going on and on so she lost her patience. She's a nice female hare, who like Mrs Pheasant was worthy of a much better husband
I loved this, even though I was only 3 at the time! But have it on VHS as my Mum filmed it off the TV. The music played once Pheasant arrives back at the farm (5:12) is probably one of my favourite and most memorable pieces throughout the whole series, I was always humming along to it.
how come pheasant tells toad not to metion the farm because of his wife, but then he volunteers to go back to the place where she was shot? daft. though you have to fell sorry for him
@Lorric101, "the siege of white deer park A giant cat...Im not sure what type, but one that uses trees invades the park. Many get killed, mainly the smaller animals, Hares, Rabbits etc...but one of Bold's cubs, Husky, is killed by the creature.
Important note: in the Books, Bold&Whisper had 4 cubs. The only one named was Husky who dies in "TSOWDP". Plucky was the son of one of the other 3 cubs and is thus Fox's Grandson...in the Books
It's weird, I'm not getting those little E-mails to tell me you've replied to my comments. I only knew about the last one because of Nanyuki, and this one because I checked back. Could you tell me how they stop the beast? Perhaps a leapord or a panther.
The deaths get worse, don't they. First, we are simply informed of the newts, then we know what happened to the female pheasant. Next we see the male's anguish, then later on the butcher bird's gruesome work, blood and all, and scarface tearing into animals.
Siege of White Deer Park? If you hadn't mentioned the Rat War, I would have thought that was what you were talking about. Who/what sieges the park? Who dies?
Badger's expression at 6:08 when he goes "OH.NO." is brilliant.

Too bad they never adapted Siege of White Deer Park. That really racks up the body count.
And in the original Book of the Rat war, Toad and Mossy were killed.
