Honestly I love BOTH groups. They are both comprised of incredibly talented men and I would pay good money to see either in concert. One point that I am surprised no one has made here- is the Stylistics own acknowledgement of debt and gratitude going out to the wonderful Thom Bell and Linda Creed who penned their most successful and beautiful classics. It is the marriage of these fine artists with true musical masterpieces that actually create the either experience that is The Stylistics. Peace.

not to take anything from the originals but they can't get my attention because there to old and yuck looking being an entertainer is FANTASY and even thought that music was and is the best I need to get my panties wet by looking and the young generation that can do that and these senior citizens aren't doing that @ all when i see them perform it's like going to a Hospice convention

To see Russell in his younger days, take a look at the Stylistics video, "First Impressions". Everyone ages if they live long enough, but if they have class and style, the appeal will always be there.

Not to put Eban down; he is great and has style also, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. You will understand this when you get older. Your kids and grandkids may one day say that Eban does not have sensuality and sex appeal because he will be much older. Both groups of backup singers are great; I love them both. But Russell will always be my favorite since I am closer to him in age and I grew up listening to him.

Since Eban is much younger and may be closer to the age of the younger fans (I think he is about 38), they may feel that he has more sexuality and sex appeal. Russell has that "old school" style and class that came from an era when men knew how to be men and people were more loving and tolerant of each other that many of the younger generation can only hope to emulate.

mtzee53, I disagree. Russell still has the "old school" style, class, and the voice. Although Eban also has a beautiful voice, in my opinion, the classic "old school" style is just not as strong. It can't be; he is much younger and from a different era. Russell has always had the sensuality and sex appeal, even now, but younger fans who were not even born back in the day may not agree.

Russell still has the voice but he along is not the Stylistics. All he has is the voice along with a group of guys that don't have the voice, nor the sensuality and for sure not the sex appeal.

If he had kept his head on straight he would still be with "The Stylistics" and not this new group of older fellows with no style and no appeal other than Russell. He was not then and is not now The Stylistics, he was a voice in the group.

yeah... it's like on this side, you have russell with the original high falsetto and non-original backups while on the original group they have an imitation of high falsetto but they have airrion love and his deep voice (you make me feel brand new)

irrespective, it is what it is. Russell has a voice that is undeniable, however, that is all he has. Eban has a very nice voice, sexuality, showmanship and sensuality that adds to the group.

All together, I along with millions of others enjoy them both, but Russell doesn't, can't and will never hold a candle to Eban. Even younger Russell was and still is not sexy, he just has a voice. Russell with a voice with some other old guys that still can't dance and absolutely no sexuality.

You could not be more wrong. If you knew your history,other than Arion Love on 2 songs from the 70's,Russell was the only member of the group that sang on the recorded material. They used hired backup singers to compliment him in the studio,not the rest of the group members. So it goes without saying that Russell Thompkins Jr. is The Stylistics.

No man is an island, is all that I meant. I don't care one way or the other about any of this. I don't know anyone of them, I simply know what I like. Russell Thompkins has a great voice, but that is all. I know alot of people with great voices. I didn't care for him then and I still don't. Eban brings a sex appeal that draws you into the song along with the rest of the guys and that is all that I care about. The only history, I am concerned with and his name is JESUS.....
