the movie dose explain why the world ends tho, its because the sun sends a huge burst of radiation that comes towards the earth and starts to cook it from the inside, causing the core to shrink and disrupt the tectonic plates and create a series of earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and causes the surfice of the earth to shift.

If I'm correct Mayan's have a thing about threes and 2012 falls within a third cycle of global-to-solar ellipses. And stopped on that December day in 2012 because it marked the end of the third cycle.

actualy i know why the earth will end because a close friend of mine has studied the myan and aztec calender for 30 years and what they say is that every 1400 years a planet that has a huge orbit around the sun comes and will actually stop the earth for 24hrs and then all of the planets will actually spin in an oposite orbit

I probably won't see the movie because, I don't know it looks depressing, and I think i've seen enough apocalipse movies last October.
