a lot of you need a serious reality check. there are countless videos of Obama speaking at debates, in person, at town hall meetings, and during interviews, rotating three hundred and sixty degrees, speaking directly to people, taking questions, and in these "off the cuff" scenarios he is almost always flawless in his message and articulation. If anything, he dumbs down his language and makes his message simple so that idiots like you guys have a chance at understanding him.

President Bush didn't write his own speeches (no recent President has), but he certainly could talk without a teleprompter, and did so all the time.

Obama is helpless with out his "friend." He doesn't know what he's doing, and he doesn't know what he's talking about. It's probably why he dissed Gordon Brown and didn't do a joint presser in the Rose Garden. No teleprompter there.

Obama reads well. That's it. When he's not reading, he's completely lost.

I think there were more people who hated Bush than there are people who hate Obama, but I think the people who hate Obama hate him with much more passion than anyone ever hated Bush.

Take the funny youtube clips of Bush for example; with Bush, you didn't have to exercise your wit or do any clever editing because you could count on Bush to say something stupid; you could count on Bush t make a fool of himself. President Bush never, ever stammered like Obama does. He had less verbal gaffes than Gore, but they were publicized by a media that hated him. He didn't use a teleprompter every time he spoke.

The BIG difference is, she doesn't rely on the teleprompter for every thought she wants to express - obama does. obama needed a prompter during the campaign for the same economic proposal every time he gave his stump speech, which he should have been able to recite extemporaneously given the number of times he had to repeat it. and it's unheard of to use the telepromopter for 5 minute introductions at parties...ugh. whether the event is big or small, the teleprompter is there.

Actually Pres. Obama is the first president to use a teleprompter, although most recent presidents have had speech writers. Most have just gone over the speech a few times before they're going to deliver it, then take quick looks down.
