The scene reminds me of when my mother outed me. One of teh few times my father got really angry with her and told her to shut up. He stood up for me and told my mum and me how proud he was of me and how much he loved me, no matter how bigoted some people in the world might be.

After the last episode (discover that Amir has commitment issues) and this episode (subtle but deep tension between Harel and his dad), I am very intrigued by this show now...doesn't hurt that Harel and Amir are pure eye candy lol

Wow! We certainly went past the bland parental reassurances from parents of gays on TV from other countries. Harel's question about aborting him if his father knew he'd be gay made me think about research to find the gay gene. Would there be a rise in abortions of gay babies if parents could pinpoint their children's gayness? If it was on record, would there be more discrimination against gays because of it? I'm just glad Harel's father loves his son, even if he is trying to change him.

@15coyote That reminds me of an older movie dealing with this issue precisely, called "Twilight of the Golds". You should check it out! Me, I would never abort my kid if I learned s/he was gay. It's utterly ridiculous to me, but I know there are other gay people who would.

Harel is such an overgrown teenager! He should grow up! I wish there were English (i.e. British English) subtitles. I have no idea what some of the American phrases mean. Perhaps I should brush up my Hebrew :-)

@leopictor Haha, British and American English aren't very different other than pronunciation and spelling. There are just a few random phrases that aren't universal. We understand each other quite well. What do you need help with? I'll try to give you a British equivalent. :)

it is something else that harel's dad is trying to play matchmaker by talking about a girl that harel knew is high school. it is sad that harel's dad wants to change him so badly that he can't just have him be happy with amir. very desperate on harel's dad's part.

depths and issues for viewers to discover .

Where do you live? If it's outside of Israel the answer is probably - no chance, sorry. If you live here, your best chance is simply to record it off the TV when they'll re-run it. There's no DVD for it as that's simply not the standard for Israeli TV shows.

Wow... I began to watch this show, let's see...45 min ago and I must admit that I've been very impressed thus far, especially with this episode. The final scene was very...honest and poignant. I especially liked Uri's reaction. He is both refrained and emotional at the same time...very good acting.

Ury hasn't got the idea that being gay is more than just sexual encounters.

I wonder why more people don't do some research instead of acting on their fears. Ury fears for Harel but doesn't investigate to learn what being gay means to gay people. So he can't help but make well-intentioned mistake after mistake -- driving Harel farther away. And Harel appears to have given up talking with him.

I'm clearly going to have to wait until clip 12 because either Ury is purposely misleading Harel to make him think Amir is STILL dating girls or Ury misunderstood the fact that Amir has dated girls in the past as some kind of indication of him wanting to do so now. Just because Amir didn't projectile vomit about having slept with women, doesn't mean he still wants to. And even if he does want to (or is bisexual) it doesn't mean he'll disrespect Harel. I don't like all of the innuendo.

I think Amir let Ury understand his words however he wanted to because he wanted Harel's father to approve of him and Ury gives him such a "you da man" look that I guess it worked. I think he replied in a way that he knew Ury would be able to take it in that direction, but he didn't think Ury would pass that impression on to Harel. That said, I doubt Amir's still into women. He did use the past tense. We'll see how this develops, but I think the clip was primarily about Ury and Harel...

All the programs I work with are free, so they have as many problems as you could expect from a product you didn't even pay for and then finding creative solutions for that is really more than I expected when I started out...
