Wow 15 years on and this vid is still causing contraversy huh?! Cool! LOL!
Just fyi, I'm not gonna let the comments on here degenerate into some juvenile debate on NK's private lives. I don't give a flying f*** what they shag! Well... sheep might turn me off... LOL! So enough of the lame ass gay bashing crap ok?! Live and let live, judge not lest ye be judged etc etc! ;)
oh i see joey's tryin a get a little frisky. its so cute cause he was so much younger than the girl !! is it just me or did donnie really makeout with one of the girls he was with in the vid ???
I love them soooo much ! im 15 and i cant get enough of them! their old songs and their new songs are all great! and they are still HOT! hehe I love joey nad jon!!! NKOTB 4 EVER°
i dont think they were trying to be gangster, its just that it was mid-90's. it wasnt the same as the 80's. everythinq changed, so did they. they grew up i guess. but i do like this song.
The album "Face the Music" came out 15 years ago today (1/24/94) - they were tired of bubblegum pop and decided to go New Jack or gangsta or whatever. Well, NKOTB faced the music - literally. And we ain't heard from again until 2008
I was 15 when this came out...it was like two years after the whole " New Kids hysteria",ppl
were like "what the hell is this, this doesn't sound like New Kids". This song was largely ignored by the old nkotb fans due to it's remarks on woman...which to say is 99% of their fan base.
In 1505 a women was hunted and killed by an evil clown. Now that you have read this, that same clown will be sitting next to your bed with a machete and evil, red glowing eyes when you wake up. Unless you post this to 10 other videos in 1 hour of reading it. Hurry up.
i love these guys im a big blockhead and joey fan but i am not impressed with this video but it was the time of the break up but i dont even know if they wrote this but the way they talked about girls wasnt right well at least they gained some integratey and pride in there work no glad they r back!!! :)
They sang this song after Jordans girlfriend cheated on him and if you listen to the words, they are not talking about all girls...just the dumb ones. I love this song and I was alive when it came out...
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
lol all girls say is how much they love these guys and want these guys, but this song is all about how girls are dogs, cheaters, and no good. There are so many stories about this group in the 80's and early 90's only meeting girls and hanging out with them, and talking to them if they fuck them. these guys fucked so many chicks and told them to go away and get out afterwards lol
I agree and I'm not saying it's right, but they were all young and girls were throwing themselves at them....hell, even mothers would offer to sleep with the bodyguards just to get their daughters backstage....it was wild and I'm sure it's wild again....young boys do stupid things and I'm sure grown men are doing the same stupid things......hilarious.
ok... this song is NOT about how girls are dogs and cheaters...if you actually listen to the song you can hear that this song is about how ONLY 1 girl cheated on him and he is callin ONLY her a dog for cheatin on him... and that is a DOG thing to do!!!! and WHERE did you hear that new kids on the block use to jus do all these girls and tell them to leave afterwards? because i would really like to kno..ok ILOVE NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK!!!! and i dont care what you HATERS got to say....
It was 1994 when this video was on Much Music and around the same time that Backstreet Boys became famous. I might've been in my early twenties when NKOTB disbanded and Backstreet Boys put their boy band together. Nice little piece of music history for me. I like both BSB and NKOTB except I like BSB more than NKOTB but love both boy bands just as much.
A true fan would never step on her tongue like that so dont bother wasting your breath on them when you could be belting the songs at the top of your pipes to everyone who coveres their ears...LOL
ok i wrote that comment like hella long ago.. and i dont need to calm down because i was talking to that girl and ONLY her. she wrote her opinon about this video and the and i just replied to her opinion by telling mine... and its not that big of a deal i was just letting her know how i feel about that comment and i hella am a true nkotb fan just because im letting her know my thought does not mean anythang
heap's of new kid's on the block poster's all over my bedroom wall and all the round my bedroom at i got there c.d.s and d.v.d.s and there tshirt and there's doll's too and heap's more i love you jordan knight
I just still love new kids on the block i wen't there concert in perth my dad gave me there concert ticket in my birthday card because it was my birthday i just love jordan knight he's so hot i wish i could married him and have a baby with him the new kid's on the block concert was great in perth i'm glad my dad brought those new kid's on the block concert ticket's for me to see new kid's on the block up perth if he didn't get them for me i wouldn't see my sexy boy jordan knight at all i had
I stopped listening to New Kids after the Step-by-Step album. I don't even own Face the Music. I was really young at the time, so that sound didn't appeal to me at all. At that age, you want the fun pop stuff they were doing in the 80's.
Their new stuff is great though. Very dance/R&Bish. Plus, the concert I went to two weeks ago was amazing!
A 4-5 hour concert would have been awesome! I wouldn't have complained! I can't believe how much I paid for tickets, I got my moneys worth, but it would have been better if it was a lot longer, lol.
This was at the time where everything was becoming to much for them.Jon wanted to quit and go different direction.his anxiety was bad at the time.this was the last song that they did before they walked away.personally I like this song.showed a different side to them.Different style and I think a lot of fans liked it too.So happy that they are back,WELCOME BACK.Dont think any other groups can do what they did, blockhead 4ever
I am almost 38 and been a blockhead for 20 years and I am not ashamed of saying it.For this song, yeah I was surprised it was new kids on the block that did this song.I think that they did a good job on this video and showed how open they are on trying on something new, they were following the time.I like the song.well done guys, and welcome back
I don't mind that NKOTB evolved when it comes to their music, it reflects the influences of the time - it would be odd to stay homogenous. Diversity is the key and it came out quite nicely as hip hop. If someone asked me I'd have never thought it's NKOTB .
By 1994 music had change so much from just two years ago. The negative and depressing sound of Grunge Rock and the harsh and very negative sound of Hip Hop were so big by then. NKOTB should had kept staying more pop. I was too dissapointed by their new direction at their music during this time aswell. I was expecting some great pop material but we got this dissapointed song by them. This is still my least favorite song by them.
2 things grunge wasent depressing it was a time and change for music if it wasent 4 grunge we would still be living in the dark ages where everyone is listenting to crappy pop and hip hop that stands 2day
That's exactly what we have now. Generic pop and uninspired rap. I would love for a "Grunge" resurgence, but it wouldn't be the same. Isn't that what these so-called "Emo" bands are trying to be?!
Y'know what, i think you're right. i never listened to much of their stuff by this stage, maybe that's what did them the most harm? New kids never set out to be anything other than a pop group, why they ever recorded this is beyond me!
WOW! kinda harsh princess. We all had a great time shooting this video and believe it or not most of us our still in our early 30's. I know that might seem really old to you.
its not harsh in my opion my sis is a nkotb freak it dont matter she still hates the hos in this vid any nkotb obsseive fan would agree with me either that or they just love jordan
Woah! Are you seriously one of the dancers on the vid?! Cool! I always wondered where the dancers/girls in the vids got to and if they're on the NK Train this time round?! ;)
Oh and ignore the flaming, most of us fans are mature enough to realise you're real people who are probably decent human beings, not man stealin' ho's! LOL!
I personally love the song and the video, I just wish I could find a copy of the video clear enough to actually see. I dont think they portray women badly, they portray cheating ho's badly...but who wouldnt?
This is the best cd they made before "the block". It's more mature and soulful. The problem wasn't the music. It was the fact that they took too long between albums, the hype died down, and a lot of fans were into the new grunge and hard core rap scene. New Kids have always been r&b/hip hop influenced, but pop sells more. I'm glad they kept the same r&b feel for their latest album.
I honestly do not see anything wrong with the songs in face the music album. I actually like all the songs but I can see y people did not like them. That's not how NKOTB were supposed to be portrayed.
oh yeah on the VH1 special i saw last week, they showed some of this vid & did mention it was on their last album, that did badly when everyone quit caring about NKOTB because Donnie agrees- a band *CAN* become *TOO* popular. oh well. they're back now! :)
They broke up because no one cared about them anymore.Just look what they were up against back then! They stopped mid-way through a disaterous(spelling)tour trying to promote this album and the crowds weren't there anymore,so they all called it quits.
I liked this song and its hip-hop groove back in 1994. Got them out of the teen pop state and toughened their sound a little bit. A little raw, but this was where the music scene was going to with the street sounds.
Poor sweet Jonathan looks so uncomfortable in this video...I remember when this came out and I saw it for the first time, I laughed my ass off when he got the drink thrown in his face. :)
don't respond with such hate but as a sarcastic joke my wife states," I dedicate this song to all the bridezillas in this planet.Call me crazy but my wife is sooooo crazy over this song she even has the record.!!!
Face the Music, although IMO was a good album, it was also a little too far from their comfort zone. They were out of their element. They went from singing about love and "This one's for the children" to singing about sanks LOL I do think "Keeping my fingers crossed" is a good song with a great message, though.
actually snugglypiggy, you have it backwards. Face the music was mainly written and co-produced by the guys, while the earlier stuff was a creation by Maurice Starr. Face the music is in reality much closer to their niche, and is RIGHT IN their comfort zone. unfortunately, they were never taken seriously after the bubblegum pop...
I think, out of context of their previous work, the song isn't bad. It's pretty good mid-90s R&B and was well produced. Joey was clearly not comfortable making this video, though.
i thought jon was more uncomfortable than joey...lol. i loved jon, he was my favorite, but he is so NOT a dancer or hip-hopper...ahhh, my sweet jonny. : )
Jon was always my fav too...I never saw this video before, I don't know why...poor Jon...why they gotta throw a drink in his face...he's such a sweetie pie!!
i remember much music in canada banned this video...ummm Why???---it's kinda sad watching it though....for many reasons...personal and fan wise as well...it's like a marking in my life in a wierd way....i did see them on tour for face the music...wierd but amazing experience...
I remember Jon mentioned about how he was not so fond of this song on E True Hollywood Story. He does look very uncomfortable throughout lol, even Joe looks a bit uncomfortable.
I saw an interview where they all said they were not too comfortable with this song or the video. They thought they went a little too far to the mature side.
LOL!!! Are they for real? This looks like a parody on SNL. Thank God they came out with Summertime which is exactly what you'd expect from them. This is just ridiculous!
Some of BSB's early music- on the first album sounds like NKOTB's FTM stuff. Particularly- You got the flavor and We've got it goin on- sound like each other.
It's funny this song came out around '92 or '93. If this was '98, it would have been huge, and would have pushed NSync and Backstreet Boys off the map. The rapper even sounded like Snoop.
even jon said he hated doing this video, hated the song, and everything about it. if enough people didn't hate them already, this song definitely did them in.
Anyone other than me see ummm...well a lil BSB ie "The Call" and "Backstreets Back" in this vid?? I mean c'mon BSB and N*SYNC wiuldn't be where they are if our "Kids" hadn't laid the groundwork! I love both those boybands too...but it all comes back to NEW KIDS!!
No doubt about it. This video was way ahead of its time. It is actually a very good video. And not as bad as some of the other videos MTV plays currently.
Joseph Murley Mcintyre, Jordan Knight , Danny , Donnie ha I can't seems to remember Jordan's brother prob my least fv . Back then we gals get so crazy .
Whoa, did that chick just toss a glass of water in Jonathan Knights' face? Goodness. I think both this song and video are highly entertaining. I just can't picture Jonathan with a 'Dirty Dawg,' lol! Danielle.

I LOVED this song at the time....but I was strange...I saw they were growing up, and I think they wanted their fans to grow with them...
But the music climate at the time was changing, and unfortunately they maybe couldn't slot into the grunge/hip hop era?
I think they could have...Face The Music was really good...
But the change in direction was maybe too much for the young fans...
But no matter, Face The Music is now being discovered and is getting the praise it should have always got!

I personally love the song and the video, I just wish I could find a copy of the video clear enough to actually see. I dont think they portray women badly, they portray cheating ho's badly...but who wouldnt?

look at the # of views, last week was like 63000, now double that
aeiraq1 3 years ago
This is the best cd they made before "the block". It's more mature and soulful. The problem wasn't the music. It was the fact that they took too long between albums, the hype died down, and a lot of fans were into the new grunge and hard core rap scene. New Kids have always been r&b/hip hop influenced, but pop sells more. I'm glad they kept the same r&b feel for their latest album.

I honestly do not see anything wrong with the songs in face the music album. I actually like all the songs but I can see y people did not like them. That's not how NKOTB were supposed to be portrayed.
Rinkiarikushido 3 years ago
This song rubbed a lot of ppl the wrong way
even nkotb fans, cuz this time they trashing there target audience WOMEN. Im a dude so appealed to me right of the bat.

oh yeah on the VH1 special i saw last week, they showed some of this vid & did mention it was on their last album, that did badly when everyone quit caring about NKOTB because Donnie agrees- a band *CAN* become *TOO* popular. oh well. they're back now! :)

This is last album before brokeup.
daralibra 3 years ago
They broke up because no one cared about them anymore.Just look what they were up against back then! They stopped mid-way through a disaterous(spelling)tour trying to promote this album and the crowds weren't there anymore,so they all called it quits.

wow they sound really cool and mature here.

I liked this song and its hip-hop groove back in 1994. Got them out of the teen pop state and toughened their sound a little bit. A little raw, but this was where the music scene was going to with the street sounds.
north5880 3 years ago 5
Poor sweet Jonathan looks so uncomfortable in this video...I remember when this came out and I saw it for the first time, I laughed my ass off when he got the drink thrown in his face. :)

don't respond with such hate but as a sarcastic joke my wife states," I dedicate this song to all the bridezillas in this planet.Call me crazy but my wife is sooooo crazy over this song she even has the record.!!!

Face the Music, although IMO was a good album, it was also a little too far from their comfort zone. They were out of their element. They went from singing about love and "This one's for the children" to singing about sanks LOL I do think "Keeping my fingers crossed" is a good song with a great message, though.
snugglypiggy 3 years ago
actually snugglypiggy, you have it backwards. Face the music was mainly written and co-produced by the guys, while the earlier stuff was a creation by Maurice Starr. Face the music is in reality much closer to their niche, and is RIGHT IN their comfort zone. unfortunately, they were never taken seriously after the bubblegum pop...
bookie7393 3 years ago 4
I think, out of context of their previous work, the song isn't bad. It's pretty good mid-90s R&B and was well produced. Joey was clearly not comfortable making this video, though.

i thought jon was more uncomfortable than joey...lol. i loved jon, he was my favorite, but he is so NOT a dancer or hip-hopper...ahhh, my sweet jonny. : )
lwphinney 3 years ago 3
I'll give you that, since they pretty much cut him out of most of the video.

I remember Jon mentioned about how he was not so fond of this song on E True Hollywood Story. He does look very uncomfortable throughout lol, even Joe looks a bit uncomfortable.
hockeyfanott87 3 years ago
I saw an interview where they all said they were not too comfortable with this song or the video. They thought they went a little too far to the mature side.
courtesytv 3 years ago
LOL!!! Are they for real? This looks like a parody on SNL. Thank God they came out with Summertime which is exactly what you'd expect from them. This is just ridiculous!

Some of BSB's early music- on the first album sounds like NKOTB's FTM stuff. Particularly- You got the flavor and We've got it goin on- sound like each other.

gherlinde82 3 years ago
It's funny this song came out around '92 or '93. If this was '98, it would have been huge, and would have pushed NSync and Backstreet Boys off the map. The rapper even sounded like Snoop.
happyaschristmas 3 years ago 4
even jon said he hated doing this video, hated the song, and everything about it. if enough people didn't hate them already, this song definitely did them in.

I agree.....I didn't like this song at all!
