  • I agree. His seat is TOO high. It negatively affects not only his playing but also his stage manner and appeal. This piece by Liszt is not one of the composer's better pieces.

  • too much staccato

  • His seat seems way too high, doing bad things for his posture

  • i dont like it.

  • C'est magnifique!!! Bravo!!!

  • sit too high

  • super!!!

  • Please, do upload a video of a version you prefer so we can compare!

  • Impressive... though he could stand to take a breath...

  • inspired

  • This is a great performance with something extra added in the way of technical brilliance, verve and artistry.

  • He losing voices, has problems with ritam, and his frases has no logichs. He slows down because the technical problems, not because the music. One word, terrible...and he won. I think that the Great LIst is turning in his grave!!!

  • yes,he will turn around, but only cause of wannabes like you.really one of the most laughable comments.

  • I wish to have his technical problems. Play it better and put on youtube.

  • if he is won, then im a Franc LIszt!!!

  • very bad... this is nothing...

  • u know- like almost all concert pianists have to have managers, personal, business managers and so on... that's why they only get usually about 80 percent of their earned money.

  • I prefer Berman, this boy is cold.tatatatatatatata from the beginning to the end.

  • no wonder he won. he's amazing!

  • Bravo Vitaly!

  • what a great pianist , amazing !!!!!

  • I don't understand why some people speak about something that they don't know. For example it is clear that VVotan isn't a musician, but still he wants to criticise Musicians: why?? Why don't you go for a walk? Why don't you see a movie? You can do it, but please, don't talk about Music!!!

My congratulations to Vitaly Pisarenko, great pianist.

  • @ Wotan

    Idiot...

  • I can see why you say this. It is a complete let down when a musician gets everything technically right but has no emotion. I think this musician played well, although the first time I viewed it there seemed to be something missing. I think it is the lack of body language. His arms fly across the piano yet the rest of his body is not involved at all, which seems odd to me.

  • Wonderful interpretation!!!

  • I hear him practice constantly and that's all he does! during the night when all the pple r partying, he practices. he really deserves the credit because he is very intelligent and really cares about music. though he really didn't think he was prepared for this competition, his manager just told him to do it for the experience.

  • i heard from a pretty reliable source the Tchaikovsky competition works the same way..

  • I think Moscow has high standards though I like this guy though I hate the piece.lol. The Van Cliburn would be a good one for him to do also. The Leeds jurors would not agree with the Tchaikovsky jurors this I think is both good and worrying. I can think of some incredible pianists Ogdon Sokolov that have won the Thaikovsky. you need a spark for the Tchaikovsky.

  • YES, many of the competitions unfortunately work this way! I was once a student of one of the jurors and her assistant a while back of this particular Liszt competition so I should know. I am not surprised at all.

  • That being said, music is a very subjective field. How is one performance necessarily "better" than another? Of course, there are certain things that need to be looked at, and certain conventions, regarding technique, tempo, phrasing, etc. But after that, what can you say? Everyone will hear the piece in a different way, and have a different idea about the way it should be played.

  • And what was the reason for the jury to give him the first prize?

  • last saturday i watched his performance in erasmus huis in jakarta. And i think yes he has technical problems, but his interpretation and the atmosphere he brought is amazing... that night he had an injured thumb and he did performances the day before and two days before in the other city, semarang and jogja, if i'm not mistaken.

  • look forward to hearing him at the Sydney International piano Competition in July, I hope he plays a different repertoir, what is often disturbing is the same use of the repertoir that they know played at different competitions

  • It is always a pleasure to hear Liszt played by someone totally in control of the technical demands. Congratulations to him!
