  • Awesome!!

  • @XxSinghSouljaxX Thank you for that!

  • just to let everyone know that i paid to have this professionally arranged, so don't anyone else (Philip included!) waste any time doing it themselves. i am in the process of recouping my costs ($268!) by getting enough people together to make it $5 or $10 each. that is happening off YouTube. as soon as that is done i will send it to Philip so he can share it freely with whomever he likes. after all, he owns this arrangement regardless of who paid for it because he created it.

  • omg *.* soo amazing

  • @thatzujkiscool Thank you!

  • Nice performance! thank-you to share it

  • @GABEUDEU Glad you liked it!

  • Bravo! Excellent performance!

  • @ariracing Thank you!

  • @PSearPianist I always wanted to learn piano but never got time, thats why I always get fascinated whenever I see someone play so beautifully specially the songs which I really like which mostly belong to my Idol and favourite musician ever AR Rahman. You must really play his "jashn e bahara instrumental of Jodha Akbar"

  • Really very beautiful

  • @sidd705 Thank you very much for your kind comment. I'll bear your suggestion in mind - although it may be difficult for me to get sheet music. Do learn the piano if the opportunity arises!

  • it is when personas like u play i realize the true gravity and genius of rahman's music !!!

  • @pusani That's really kind!

  • sir , request you to upload some of A R rehman's songs piano cover by you . I know you can do it perfectly well .

    Syed

  • @tariqhassanin Thank you. I will consider it - but copyright is a major issue.

  • Thanks for the wonderful video.! It was really amazing ,spellbinding ...wonderful. I suggest you try some more good songs of Rehman ...as well as other Bollywood music...You may find few of them worth playing....For a good player like you...anything you play will sound Gr8....

  • @punitsaurabh Thanks very much for that kind comment. Maybe I will see what I can do!

  • That is really beautiful. It captures the theme so perfectly and has a nice level of detail. You take the main music but make it suitable for piano without losing the original mood. I love it. I really wish I had a piano nearby now and most of all the sheet music. "Official arrangements" are often not as good as the arrangements made by youtube users.

  • @Chocolateluvr1987 That's really kind. You must get a piano! I have recorded some 'official' arrangements of movie themes, but only one in ten that I have seen really capture the feel of the original soundtrack, and I have had to be very selective!

  • @PSearPianist My mother has a piano so I practice when visiting her, but I have been neglecting it too much. I think the worst arrangements are usually found in big "summary books" (e.g. "best of...."). There are exceptions, but I have been very disappointed in these. The versions found on here are frequently superior.

  • Beautiful. Absolutely blew me away.

  • Thank you for this lovely arrangement. I think you've really captured Rahman's theme but you've also really made it your own. Lovely.

  • @ohemclow Thank you for your kind comment!

  • Great performance, as always, and even better transcription/piano adaptation. The only official sheets for this are terrible (four pages in the 'Big Screen Themes' book) so I'm tempted to create sheets of this version, unless you have any objections?

  • @ukamagi You are welcome to do that - I never have!

  • Hello Mr. Sear, would you be kind enough to share your notes?? Or tell me where I can get them from?? I would love to learn to play this piece!!

  • @smile4mepls1 It is my own arrangement which I made by listening to the soundtrack. I never wrote down what I played! Maybe you can buy a book with an official arrangement of the piece in.

  • WOW.AMAZING :) i love your playings!

how do you play it so well?! I can never reach your level..==

i wish you were my teacher! haha.

  • @oomfg123 Thank you for your kind comment. I am sure you could reach or surpass my level of playing if you work really hard at it!

  • Your a genius my friend that's fantastic, it's a beautiful piece of music and it must take so many years of practice to play like that. Excellent melody transcends all styles of music.

  • @NUGRAT Thank you for your kind comment. I have certainly practised piano for many years, but there seem to be a lot of players who make big careers before they are 20 and somehow manage with only a few years to practise!

  • perfect sound I love piano music

  • @MsMoviestar1 Thank you - so do I!

  • I think the piano is the most beautiful thing ever maked

  • @cod4gek The sound of the piano can be, if played by a genius!

  • Speechless.............

  • @icy4567 I hope that means you liked it!

  • @PSearPianist Yup...........I wish you were my teacher Mr. Sear :)

  • @icy4567 Thank you. Alas I don't teach at all - I only coach and accompany singers and instrumentalists.

  • Beautiful!!!

  • @Alunamai Thank you!

  • Muy bonito!!! Felicitaciones! Esto es de mi película favorita(:

  • @MegaCupcakefan Gracias por tu comentario amable!

  • This brings tears to my eyes :') its beautiful thankyou for posting this

is there anywhere i could downlaod it?

  • @everbuzz That's really kind. If you are referring to the sheet music, this is my own transcription made by ear - but I believe there is a commercially available book with piano arrangements of music from the film.

  • @PSearPianist No i meant ur version :) but thanks for the response anyway, sir

  • wonderful...thanks for this poetry, Sir

  • @musicallyspeakings88 That's really kind - thank you!

  • Sir, a big salute to you,, really superb, as a fan of ARRahman, may I ask you something? How would you rate his composition? please reply your sincere opinion

  • @mmohan09 Thanks for your kind comment. I probably don't know enough of Mr Rahman's music to judge him fairly, but I like the few pieces I have heard.

  • @Simpro2 Thanks for your kind comment. Alas I never wrote my transcription down. I just made a few very rough notes from the soundtrack. However, I believe that you can now buy a Slumdog Millionaire piano/vocal songbook.

  • This is a gorgeous piece. Well done.

  • Thank you very much? If only I could enjoy a tiny fraction of Rahman's commercial success with my own work.......

  • terrific sir. Its amazing how music crosses all boundaries and inspires any soul. yours inspired me. ARRahman's music inspires me. Thanks. Please try listening to "Ilayaraja's" compositions.. he is our mastero.

  • Thank you very much. I will look for Ilayaraja - whom I have not heard of!

  • Sir for the whole day i can listen this, Amazing, Is it possible to get Mp3 version from you??

  • You could probably rip it from the video - there are free tools available for you to do this. I will have a look and see if I can do it for you.

  • awesome! nice to see fellow royal hollowegians on youtube!

  • Thank you, and very good to hear from a fellow alumnus. I wish I were still there - the music department is far better equipped than it was in my day!

  • Really beautiful.

Hope you could provide some notes and chords to it, really want to play it.

  • gud bro keep it up

  • Thank you - I will!

  • beautiful! thanks for sharing it! Kisses from Argentina

  • Thank you - and best wishes to your from the UK (where at last it is summer!).

  • This is so pretty!

  • I'm glad you liked it!

  • This is really amazing.

  • Thanks very much!

  • hi very nice playing ! i will start putting my performance soon ! but If you are free can you guide me ? I learned piano myself so i need some assistance !

  • Thanks for your kind comment. I do not teach piano, so I am not sure I could guide you or anyone else. There are quite a lot of instruction videos on YouTube showing how to play popular pieces.

  • Your playing is so beautiful. You have captured the feeling of this piece so wonderfully. Is your piano arrangement available as sheet music?

  • Thanks for your kind copy. I'm afraid my arrangement was never written down - all I used was a very rough note of the tune and approximate chords which I made after listening to the soundtrack.

  • v wud love more ar rahman's work on piano version...

  • I will have to see what I can do!

  • greeting from dubai

  • Thank you - you are the first to comment from there! Greetings from the UK!

  • Beautiful!

  • Thank you!

  • Greetings,

    Wow - absolutely brilliant!

  • Greetings to you - and thanks for your kind comment!

  • hello sir,

i appreciate your original work as shown in this piece.

RAHMAN is not seen less than GOD for music lovers in india.

take this as a request, please venture into more of rahman's albums and make more videos on that...one suggestion is the track kaise mujhe tum milgayi from the movie ghajini.

hoping to see new videos soon!!..all the best sir.

  • Thank you for your kind comment. I don't know the movie you mention, but I will certainly consider doing some more Rahman!

  • I like how you play this piece. You can really feel and hear the song unlike other people, they just play the keys and that's it. It's very relaxing and good job!!

  • Thanks for your kind comment. I guess I approach it from a Western classical viewpoint.

  • Sure! it's not worth missing.. :]

  • I know.. and I'm nowhere near 'good' .. shouldn't have quitted lessons.. anyways.. you've inspired me.. i'm going back to my lessons! hehe.. :D

  • Do that!

  • Fab job.. That was pretty good..

    Quite like ur version.. :)

Been teaching myself this song fr about 2 days now.. wish i could play like u! :)

  • Thank you! 2 days is not long to learn a piece. Think how well you may be playing it after 20 days!

  • wow it was beautiful...pls try out dil, roja , yuvraaj and taal of the gr8 AR RAHMAN

  • Thank you. I will definitely try some more Rahman.

  • wow! really beautiful.

it would be interesting to see you playing more indian tunes with your own improvisations. there is a great love theme by the same composer (AR Rahman) which you might want to try.

    watch?v=3ayad-H6i_4

    5/5

  • here is the full version

    watch?v=AzRIajgQ9g4

  • Thank you - I'm glad you enjoyed it. I will take a look at the video you mention. Meanwhile you may be interested to see my videos of some pieces from 'Calcutta-Nagar' by John Mayer (not the pop singer) which are on my channel.

  • hats off sir...

i just wish u were living near me so that u could teach me this...

i love the way u play the song full of emotion..

    and great improvisation!!!...

    nice one ;)

  • Thanks for your kind comment. According to your channel you are from India which is indeed a long way away. I had a fantastic holiday there many years ago, and it is a wonderful country.

  • yeah it sure is...

but I've only lived in India for up to about 3 years...

    now I'm in England Newcastle...

    and by the way...

You have truly captured some of the Indian culture...

5/5 from a very satisfied subscriber

  • Thanks very much! Newcastle is a cold place, but the area is quite good for culture - eg, the Sage Gateshead and the Baltic centre.

  • it`s great!

In my Opinion there are a little too much improvistations, but still great =)

I want to play like you, may you send me the music sheets?

  • Thank you. I do not have any sheets for it - I only made some rough notes from the soundtrack. I have to put some improvisation into it to fill in where the other instruments would be on the recording!

  • Great !!! Check my vision this song on piano...:)

  • Thanks for your comment. I have seen your video, and with your use of pedal on a fairly bright piano sound you create a good impression of Indian music. I also like your overhead camera angle!

  • wow, thats rly good

if you have sheet music, could you send it to me

im trying to learn tthis song

    thanks

  • Thanks for your kind comment. I do not have sheet music for this song, I just wrote down the tune from listening to the soundtrack recording - I did it very roughly!

  • Thank you, Phillip, for a very lovely composition of the movie's music. You play so beautifully and seemingly, effortlessly!

  • That's kind - I'm sure this tune will have a life of its own when the film is forgotten.

  • lol i played this by ear after watching the movie yesterday... yours sounds so much better though!!

  • That's kind. It is quite a memorable tune, and as you have seen the film (which I have not) your rendition may well be more inspired than mine!

  • Wow! This gave me goosebumps!

    Amazing Job!

I have seen the movie, and it definitely deserved the 8 oscars. The score is beautiful. I also want to learn how to play Latikas theme on keyboard.

    Well done =]

  • Thanks for your most kind comment. I have no idea if Latika's theme has been published as a keyboard solo. A lot of the more up-tempo music from the movie probably would not work on piano. I suggest that you listen to the original soundtrack recording - as I did - and try to play it by ear. You will probably want to add different piano accompaniments to the melody from the ones I put in.

  • I have seen the movie (:

  • That's great - I hope you enjoyed it.

  • Thank you!

  • Hi Philip - beautiful music to a beautiful book my wife and I read and enjoyed very much. We are waiting for the movie. Thanks for giving us hint to its music.

  • That's a pleasure!

  • I forgot to tell that I've read the book and it was amazing. However, music adds stories of its own.

  • 10* in my ears. beautiful. I don't know the original piece (nor have I seen the movie). Thanks also for the info.

  • I haven't seen the movie myself, but I have seen excerpts and it is very topical here in the UK, having just won 8 Oscars! If you get the chance, do hear the soundtrack - the orchestration is amazing.
