There will never be another Jerome. He's like the one random drunk guy that would dance to all our crappy music at gigs when I was in a band....but PROFESSIONAL
Man what a show ,these guys gotta go on tour in the vein of Jagger,Plant,James Brown & Larry Dodd of the Bar-Kays Morris is a great lead singer and showman Jellybeans great drumming,Jessie Johnson one greatest guitar players to come along in the last 20 years, the 2 greatest r & b record producing team ever,a great horn keyboard player Monte and probably after Flavor Flave the greatest hype man ever Jerome. Tour guys come on Jessie I wish i was a musician America needs to know what time it is.
INCREDIBLE! TIGHT! Thats a band right there.....and they make it look easy. coreography, swagger, character......thats the blueprint, few bands put in work like that
is it me or do morris look younger here then he did in purple rain.he look like a tottally diffrence person in graffitti bridge & in this video then he did in purple rain
Are there any bands today this @#%*@#* tight!?! Even if you don't like the song you can't deny that The Time was always in the pocket. Instrumental skill, choreography, composition...they could do it all.
For all of Princes' jealousy, he could stop the group, but he could never take their ability away from them. As proof of this, they have all gone on to do very well in the music industry, and they never stooped to Princes level to do so.
@kungfurabbit71 "Stooped to Prince's level"? I hope that was *just* a pun about his height. I love The Time, but they are very much a one trick pony. This sound that you hear up there is pretty much their only sound. They do some ballads, but Morris Day, although a great frontman, does not have great vocal chops. They rarely get out of this "80s funk stomp" box. Nor should they. But Prince, love him or hate him, doesn't even know how to spell "box". ("bØ><", or something, probably.)
@getkristan i absolutely agree with you, i have listened to Prince since the 70's, i in no way would ever dismiss the ability and innovation he has. however the time came along at exactly that, THE RIGHT TIME! they touched a part of my generation that had not been touched, and actually made you feel like walking down the street telling everyone you met, I'M JUST COOL lol. I am gald they have most all gone on to even greater sucess,Just wish Prince could have swallowed some ego an enjoyed it too
@getkristan So what should The Time sound like? They are a funk band with rock and pop elements to their sound! And it's not like the band cannot do other sounds -- just listen to the hundreds of songs Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis produced, or Jesse Johnson's music -- but I'm not expecting The Time to sound like Usher, R. Kelly, Beyonce or whoever in the world you think they should sound like.
OH WOW....Did anyone notice that Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis (original lineup members of this band and prolific producers of New Edition, Janet Jackson and yup, even the Human League) are in this video!!! Thumbs up if u feel me....
ok is this an alternate take on the SNL performance because the fottage I hav Jesse had a little trouble with his wireless system but this clip still Kicks Ass
I've seen them twice in the last 3 years. They put on a fantastic show. One of the best ever.......I wish they would announce their tours more. Unfortunately Jerome has not been with them....;but the current line up is great. Chili sauce :)

@styner3 You are right, so maybe my excitement got the better of my observation. So i will have to wait until i am opportuned to see Prince until then i reserve my judgement
I saw this on SNL and it was very cool. I hope they always continue with making music as long as they care to. So much cool music lots of funk. Peace.
I agree with geosh78. Jesse Johnson is not just a regular guitar player. And I am a big fun of Jellybean Johnson, one of the funkiest drummer ever. This version was included in a latin-american cable TV edition of SNL.
Jesse Johnson is one of the best unknown guitarist that ever lived. His chord playing and timing is off the chain--then he rips a solo to take you out. Where did you get this version? The version that actually aired showed Jesse experiencing sound issues with his guitar when it first started.
Excellent performance by one of the best groups ever (this original lineup, of course). Performers just don't have this kind of stage presence or showmanship anymore.
can someone hit me up and tell me when they did this show? last I heard jesse was overseas and lost his mind behind some female and attempted suicide. I saw them about some time ago and none of the O.G.'s were on stage except for morris and jerome

@bigsexyblondiedreads they did this show mid 90's i was there at NBC studios doing security..jesse was a little tippsy from drinking wine during the break..prince showed up i was standing right next to him amd malcom jamal warner...AHH those were the days
Morris Day & the Time. Pandemonium's on my all time Top 10 record lists. Their musicianship is incredible, and as a band they're tight as hell. And the music's a ton of fun.
the best performance of this song i've seen...compared 2 so called r n b 'music' of today this is completely nuts!!! they should come back for good to show these fools how it's done!
