@loombaron basic is magic man. Haha, nothing more. You don't need to be shred king to write a good song, you dont need complicated scales and impossible chords. All you need is a good beat, a sense of rhythm, a passion for what you do, and 3 good chords and you can be great. People dont like complexity. Thats common fact. :) Thats why so much famous stuff is so simple.
@HarrisonPaniszczyn amen to that brother... people do not like complexity...NOBODY goes home singing the guitar solo.... and all the classic guitar songs just have short lead bursts that have ya pining for more.. that why oasis sooo popular coz they keep it simple...and all the so called 'musicians' are jealous as heck over their success..
@patoolkaxD I mean this whole clip is just awesome!!! but why Heather had to be there? If they would know the future I am sure that all of the people would slam the door behind her fu*cking nose
Man, they can all say what they want about who is the better singer/songwriter when it comes to Lennon/McCartney, and John was second to none. On the other hand, it's clear from watching this why Paul is the most prolific, accomplished musician of all time. Pure genius. Great post.
A lot of folks seemed to be awed by this simple 60 year old recording technique. Of course he's Paul McCartney and he's absolutely one of the Icons of our lifetimes.....but a bunch of you are quite easily entertained by this rudimentary recording lesson....Like Neil says "It's not the music, It's the mystique"
@loombaron I get what you're saying. But in this case it probably was a small mistake. It doesn't bother me though. It actually makes me like Paul's performance more. Sort of perfectly imperfect.
yup, perfect and a bit narrow. As a musician he plays really basic things. I think he is a great song writer and he has a great voice but as a bass, guitar and piano player he is pretty basic. Same happens with Jimi Hendrix, everybody says he is the greatest and when you see jazz, classical, flamenco, tango or bossa nova musicians you get what real music is. Nothing against Paul but rock musicians are more like artists, social messengers, rather than true musicians. dont know why I wrote this XD
@luizantonioveleda this is a trick that is about 60 years old.....anybody can do it...but Paul Mac is really good at it. Investigate Todd Rundgren for a much more involved one man band thing.
@smurphus7010 sure... it seems to be the overall behaviour of british audiences... it has something to do with their culture... It's unreal to imagine such situation in a brazilian crowd for example.
Though this is just your standard blues progression, Paul here played bass, guitar, drums piano and made up lyrics as he went, and did all of that quite spectacularly. Not every musician can boast doing that good of a job.
Also, is it just me, or is his voice getting even better with age?
@toryst478 Of course I am wrong I was just joking. The Beatles don't even come close to Mozart or Mingus, Davis, Coltrane, or even Dave Brubeck for that matter. The Beatles music is only incredibly simple pop tunes. People seem to think that The Beatles could stand up to the rigors of classical music or jazz. There is also a notion that Bob Dylan's lyrics stand up to Keats, Joyce and even Shakespeare hahahahahaha!
Paul<3333 i've never seen such a talented man. scratch that. Paul's majorly multitalented. Macca is my hero. a true music legend. it's so great to see him with his "old buddy" hofner bass guitar :) He's such a great man. sucha great musician.

Another great example of - - when the Beatles were off doing their own separate tracks for The White Album - - why one of the Fab Four didn't really need anyone else. And yet ironically, he was the one who was trying his hardest to keep them from falling apart. Love you, MACA.

@MyDreamside Love Paul McCartney , but the whole "so and so plays this that-n-everything" is a bit overblown. First off, Ukelele, guitar, blahblahblah are all very similar, and really in half an hour any decent guitar player can get something cooking on these instruments. I know about a dozen guys that can play drums, keys, guitars. It's almost common here in LA.
