  • I noticed that the audio is on the Right side rather than stereo. I always like the bass line on the off beat for this song rather on both sides and on beat.

  • EPIC!

  • WOW...THIS IS GREAT!!!!!

  • This and U-Men are the best. Can never get tired of listening to them!!

  • I. Love. His. DANCE!!!

  • This is now and forever will be my absolute favorite, from my #1 favorite band of all time. The best 4 minutes of my life that I can relive over and over so long as I can keep pushing the |<< button.

  • MASTERS, MASTERS, MASTERS..

  • totally loving the theatrics with this the oddity with this i love it , creative performance and awesome tune, MAGNIFICANT

  • I love their early tunes they have new wave to the synth the later works have industrial to the synth, totally love earilier tunes, just like this tune, AWESOME

  • totally odd, i love oddity, loving this tune very much, synth pop new wave, awesome

  • totally adding this to my repertoire of dance moves

  • Still playing after all those years!!!!!!!!!

  • its so simple...but soo cool...... btw ..no shuffle is the best song :P

  • this still kicks ass today ...

  • Awesome!From 1982 !!

  • fuckin great!!! on every floor

  • FYI the Gear featured in the Video That I can identify are :

Moog Source : dual oscillator Mono synth

    Roland System 100 Modular Synth

    Roland TR-808 Drum Machine (Duh!)

I think the blue characters (Numbers & letters) are from the Roland MC-4 or MC-8 Microcomposer Digital CV/Gate Sequencer (Pre-MIDI)

  • @SpaceIntruderDetecto I didn't realize that 242 was so blessed with good gear. I knew that U-Men referred to an early Roland digital synth, but that's about it. Loved these guys. Can't believe I didn't know this one. It sounds like some of their somewhat early material.

  • This belongs in a museum

  • Love the way they got the light grid to show only on his skin and not his clothes...

    really innovative for the time.

  • I love how he dances, really awsome

  • great song!

  • this is amazing, not the bullshit from today

  • @alexbsrammstein19 you have got to be shitting me... this what hipster dreams look like

  • muyy clasico

  • ca c'est du bon

  • I wonder if this is what Joy Division would have been like had Ian Curtis not killed himself, provided they still progressed to the danceable electronic sounds of New Order.

  • @tetiontkon Only the vocals are similar really, so I think not. Joy Division were post punk and New Order were indie / synthpop. Whereas this band are electronic industrial and influenced by DAF.

  • yes !

  • got this one on vinyl

  • pure damn epic

  • I was in the military during the cold war. This song reminds me so much of the old squabble with the CCCP.

  • FRONT !!!!!LO MAS♥

  • wow Belgian? I'm proud ^^

  • @colloredbrothers ma stop daar toch mee... ;)

  • @BelgianMusic

Nee man :p ik was blij.

  • PARENCEN CON ESTA VOZ ANDROIDES SINIESTROS

  • Cette chanson...toujours aussi puissante même 30 ans après...un hymne!!!

  • Coolvideo, did you know this video was recorded in Daniel's bedroom?

  • Standing so tall / The ground behind

No trespassers / On every floor

A garden swing / And another door

She makes it clear / That everything is hers

    A place of abode

    Not far from here

    Ms. Van de Veer

All that belongs to / No-one sees

Curtains that waver / When evening falls

  • Inclosed by fences / Smothered by wood

Who stands behind / The shadows of the trees

    A place of abode

    Not far from here

    Ms. Van de Veer

Standing so tall / But no-one sees

No trespassers / Whan evening falls

A garden swing / Smothered by wood

She makes it clear / The shadows of the trees

  • she makes it clear that everything is hurs.

  • 10000*

  • the famous human-robot dance 80's

  • i like it a lot

  • This video makes me wish that the guidos didn't claim fist-pumping

  • cool video . cool noise...!!!

  • The dancer actually reminds me of Ian Curtis..

  • @gombie That's what I've always said, too.

  • They were obviously inspired by the original Tron movie :)

  • I love this track - a classic!!

  • This cheesy video doesn't do the song justice. Very dark, indeed, love it. Geography was great but the "Official Version" record was their masterpiece I think.

  • @artmonkid

It's not that Cheesy, it's kraftwerk-like nostalgy stuff.. for me at least.

  • @gombie: That's what I was thinking, Kraftwerk-Depeche Mode like haha

  • @DieMenschMaschine85

Yeah, even though i don't think depeche mode sounded like this in the early years..

Anyway, in a Early Laibach interview, laibach members look like evil twin brothers of kraftwerk.

  • Who stands behind the shadows of the trees?

  • @IAMHIMOFSHEOL

    Miss der Van Deer

  • @irionik All that belongs to no one is she's = death

  • @Doesumama

    Thanks so much.

  • @irionik Miss Van De Veer, and she's fucking hot

  • I love 242's early works like this one but always wish I had the chance (and money) to give songs like these the visual they deserve. Their lyrics and music paint such strong pictures; Militaristic, but always with an interesting storyline. Perhaps a WWII flick with 242 on soundtrack. I imagine all their hero's fighting the unwinnible but noble fight. "We'll always be remembered, we'll always be dismembered! "

  • @chrisgiraffe

Are you kidding me? I love this video! It's very simple what with only a black background, test pattern, strobe light, and totally awesome geeky belgian dancing! Kind of Ian Curtis/Gary Numan-esque.

It's completely reminiscent of it's time period and nationality. And I have to say when music is slightly dated, it only adds more to it.

It's not much but it always gets me pumped.

  • prob my fav front 242

  • I'm glad I did not see this video when the were my favorite band. I would've been dissapointed. The song is great.

  • @artmonkid I think this was in the very early years, they were really trying to be different and unique...and I am sure their budget didn't allow for much...they made what they could for the technology and the budget....I think it was cutting edge..and I've seen worse.

  • Now I know where Frontline Assembly got a lot of their ideas for the song Mindphaser from.

  • I saw their gick. I was not much very amazed but perhaps they were pioneers on 80´s.

  • Rien à dire, Geography est pour moi le meilleur album de Front 242 !

  • fuck me, this song is fucking awesome!!

  • awesomesah

  • RAW analog synth!

  • gooooooooood

  • hell yes,raw power

  • I think the blue men took that dance.

  • perfect

  • de la pure EBM le debut de la techno house etc...... avec misnistry aussi et bien d'autre ....les belges et l'est sont fort a cette période

  • Front 242 makes me proud that I'm Belgian :-D

They were so fucking great back then and these songs still rock hard these days. Amazing band!

  • @cocabots

Agree my brother, we're one of those people who can speak four languages, close to my switzerland friends but better,

if only we, here, french , flemish, deutsch, could speak as one...

  • Couldn't be more perfect

  • Thanks for uploading!

I've always wondered how they got away with using George Lucas samples (?), nobody else has.

  • Well it was early 80s.There was almost no Sample Clearing back then. Also all these great HipHop Productions from the late 80's / early 90s wouldn't exist without these heavy Sampling. It was a grey area that exist these days.

  • super titre des 242

  • MAGNIFICO

    INCOMPARABLES

  • fucking awesome.

  • Simply great!

  • this is the definition of the 80s

  • The song's great but the video's so cheasy!!!

  • Jean-Luc DeMeyer is a WILD AND CRAZY GUY!!!

  • this song has samples from the THX movie, by George Lucas ... cool movie with Robert Duvall ....

  • ok. the wall is painted with blacklight colour, his face and hands are painted with blacklight colour, then there is a grid projected from a blacklight lamp and inbetween there is a strobe. just like that.

  • It has a touch of Numan and a pinch of Soft Cell!

  • theirs first album was so different then others albums...but still great!!

  • was ist ebm, etwas zum drinken ?

  • Ein Blöder Mutherfucker

  • i cant believe people who claim to be all into 80z dont even know this track...when i hear this i feel like putting a fog machine in my living room

  • Masters of industrial. if this was mainsteam, we'd be living in a whole new culture.

  • couldent agree more...

  • One of the greatest tracks ever!

  • Anyone know how the test grid is only on his face and hands rather than on his shirt? I just can't wrap my mind around it.

  • the black clothes absorb the light because of low reflectivity. his light skin has a higher gain (reflective quailty) and returns lightwaves efficiently. same reason theaters have dark interiors.

  • I love that rhythm

  • no stupid you is no lessen

  • Wow! It starts with view of the hardware sequencer Roland MC 4!

  • =) .

  • Does anyone know where I could find the lyrics?

  • Check out any Front 242 lyrics page on google. There are several of them. I can't copy the link here.

  • last time I tried I couldn't find any,

    but thanks :)

  • Old school... Nothing beats that!!

  • This is electronica!

  • I want to build a time machine just to stand on that stage and dance like that dude. He's that freaking awesome..

  • get hammered one night and go for it! screw the time machine :P

  • !!!!!!!!!!!!!!GOOD AWESOMENESS!

Mindphaser(by FLA) and This track rocks...

  • i love 242!! these guys are freakin classic electro!!!

  • This is awesome!!

  • Around 0:57 they featured Mr. Bean

  • Can I haz sum of yr drugz Plz?

    KThkz

  • "Industrial" music is the stupidest and most confusing genre name of music. Just call it electronic music. Everybody seems to call everything industrial. Its a very stupid term that doesnt have a definitive definition.

Front242 = ELECTRONIC music, or EBM

  • There was a belgian band named TELEX before 242, so you listen it and tell if it is industrial or not xD Do you mean metallic sounding like the track "populär - fekete lány" (search for it)?

  • Proud to be Belgian

  • Yeah, I'm American, You must be a fag.

  • This track has such a beautiful cold electronic ambience with an analogue warmth (as does most of Geography), I've never heard another artists production that sounds remotely similar. Original and legendary. 242 - The Uneclipsable.

  • this is a freaking sweet video :D

  • enclosed by fences, smothered by rules
