you just take the few screws out in the bottom, take off the top of the dreamcast and scrub it with a paper towel soaked in windex, and if that doesnt do it use ahchohal

At the time however, the mod chip was for the sole purpose of playing import games. Kinda wish I hadn't sold my copy of GGX. Oh well, I have it backed up now. :)

When you say "official japanese game" do you mean an original copy of it? In that case, you might have to, but I'm not 100%. However if it's a burned copy that self boots, I don't believe you would have to. In any case, a simple download of a Boot Disc would remedy any problem you may be having. Boot disc works like a mod chip allowing you to play burnt and import games alike.

3:15 The saturn "Model 3" controller is actually called the 3D controller, and the dreamcast controller is based off of it.
