@dualshock3 it made it a guessing game...and also u needed to press counter and a direction to counter different moves...it was great to feint moves then smack them with some big windup attack during counter recovery. sorry if you did'nt get to the higher levels of play...me and my cousins wasted allot of family reunions on that game.

@tedkissel You're right, and I actually meant Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 trilogy (I forgot that Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 was an arcade game, whereas trilogy was for the PS1 ... my bad). And as far as gaming now goes, my baby brother still games hard, and even he swears to me all the damn time that fighting games today just aren't as good as they used to be. Woah woah don't get ahead of yourself, in 1997 Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 came out for the Sega Saturn, Arcade, and Genesis. Then Nintendo 64 and PS1 decided to make a better version of UMK3 with more characters, more secrets, and more finishing moves (at least for the N64 version) in a game called Mortal Kombat Trilogy NOT ULTIMATE MORTAL KOMBAT 3 TRILOGY.

N64 featured secret codes to get Mutaro and Shoa Kahn along with finishing moves for both characters along with more secret codes to go classic 1980's games before a fight in 2 player vs mode, and 3 count them 3 fatalities for scorpion the PS1 version of this game featured none of these things

Now the PS1 version featured a few things the N64 version of MK Trilogy didn't such as more characters including Kintaro and Goro along with Shao Kahn and Mutaro all of whom had no finishing moves and had no secret codes attached to them they were just playable in the game and the first ever one button finishing move mode for all the finishing moves with all the characters. Personally I thought the PS1 version of MK Trilogy was much better then the SNES version.

UMK3 in my opinion was also premature to MK3 and could have been thought of shortly after MK 2 was made since in the first MK3 (at least for PS1) you could enter a secret code for the UMK3 characters plus UMK3 was advertised in magazines a few months after MK3 came out.

After MK2 was made fighting games were at their best titles like MK trilogy, KI, and Primal Rage were hitting stores plus sorry about the typo, I meant to say UMK3 and MK trilogy both came out in 1996 I forgot.
