  • I am really interested in Japanese culture and maybe thinking of being a foreign exchange student there. How much Japanese do you need to know? A lot or just enough to get around? Is schooling difficult there? I've heard it is very hard. I love your videos they are very interesting :) please reply

  • Next year i might do this but like what are the styles their for guys lol but i dont wanna go their and called a baka lol

  • I went to Japan for 2 months on a foreign exchange in my post freshman year Summer (about two years ago). I spend $3,000 when I was there.. I have no idea how this chick made it with $200 a month..

  • I don't mean to rude.. but the boys who smell their shoes look like apes, rather than human being. And.. did u hear em making all these monkey cryin' sounds when they were chasin each other?

How pathetic.. all these time they were doin that to get into someone's pants, ha?

Don't get me wrong. I'm not a racist or something..I love Japanese chicks though.. bc they r so easy

  • I'm going to Japan and personally I don't care if people stare at me for being white :) i live for standing out anyways!! :) but I think Asian are way prettier no offense to Caucasian girls. my uncle is Asian and so is his wife and I've wanted to be like my aunt-in-law since I was little bc I think Asians are just prettier :D

  • @MissLishaDawn im half white half asian but look mexican. people always ask me what my race is, i just tell them im hispanic so that i don't have to tell them the long story

  • Where are your parent's from? Since you are asian, I think you didn't get many stares.

  • cute girl

  • Im thinking of being a foreign exchange student in Japan, is there any type of racism in Japan? My worries are being that one person who like sticks out from everyone.

  • @XXPheonixReborn Take a look at the Asians in America. Probably the same exact look

  • well your lucky your asian, because you blend right in :)

  • Wow! I really admire you! Thanks for this awesome video!

  • yay good for you!! I'm going for my second year of high school! you have given me an awesome pep talk! thanks!!

  • what did they do at the end I didn´t really get it. Did they had a fight or sth?

  • tbh, I can't trust a review of an asian country from someone with an asian ethnicity

Sure, accuse me of what you want, but way I see it, the more different/foreign you are, the more obvious these cultural differences are for you and the easier it is to show them.. the more we can relate too :p

  • @LugeoLeon i agree, it must have amde it easier on her that she was of asian decent, so she probably didn't get that many stares, of people calling her gaijo (or w/e u call foreigners). but you can tell by her american accent that she really was new to the country. there are still tons of reviews out there, i enjoyed this one too, you get to see the many different views.

  • i rly wanna go 2 japan now nex time u go take mi wit u lol n I LUV ur HAT!!!

  • did you have a japanese boyfriend while you were there? jw hahaha

  • Did your host family know english?

Its way too humid, but it's fun, and the Food is so good. I miss the ice-cream.

  • Oh my Satan I want to goooo really bad sadly I have to wait till junior year I'm only a freshman ),;

  • 2 grand ha! xD that's nothing. let's go to japan :DD

  • when are you coming to nyc?

  • @kstar132 What is your issue? Haven't you ever heard of a student exchange program? Nobody is allowed to travel internationally anymore... because you said so. Sure.

  • @kstar132 troll.

  • That video at the end made me laugh so hard, but quite some time has passed since this video. Did you ever get to go back to Japan? I surely hope so!

  • i have 2 questions do they call u by ur english name or or like they would translate it to jappenese n was the shool and grade part hard for u or was like ok like it wasnt that hard but u still need help in hw or somethin like that -thx

  • Did you say Kumamoto is where you went? If so that's where I'm from and I'm glad that you liked it to live there.

  • I heard that Japanes high schoolers put their whole time into studying and no one ever hangs out, is that true?

  • @falcone4life It depends on what school you go to. At higher ranked schools, that tends to be the case. However, at more average level schools, it's pretty normal. (It's more competitive in Japan so you'll see more people studying overall) I hope that helped :]

  • I'm assuming you went for a semester of college? or was this High school?

  • Sweet!

  • Nice omake :)

  • Yo make room for me セクシー

  • What about Chinese-Americans in Japan? We're not white, so we won't stand out, but will our lack of Japanese understanding be as tolerated as white gaijin?

  • I want to go to japan. Im going to ask my school about the exchange program tomorrow^^

  • you are hella cute!!!!

  • your very lucky to only pay for your airplane ticket and spending money.

anyone recommend a abroad program for anyone over 18?

  • Comment removed

  • Question: when did you do the program? Like which year of high school did you go to japan? because i am wondering about whether to go next year as a sophomore, a junior, or senior year. Also, how did you keep up with work like SATs? I want to go to Japan but i also need to take the SAT2's and SATs... And did you take school there? Or did you take online courses to keep up with high school credits while learning japanese in japan?

  • How hard is it in class? Is it hard to keep up because of the language barrier? I am a freshman but want to do a foreign exchange either during the summer of my Junior-Senior year or my senior year. Thanks!

  • ROLF That was so funny they do seem nice. Do you still talk to them? But then again i think then you'd br charged long distance calls. lol

  • You have an amazing voice. I bet you are really good at singing.

  • i'm thinking in going to okinawa, because i'm very interested in karate

  • @monsterhuntersadness stfu you pice of shit how is she trying to act hot you dumb fuck that dosent even make since alest she went to japan jealous much

  • @psychoandthemidget LOL u mean well but, chill much?

  • @zutora11 how bout koreans?

  • You're so lucky that you got to go to Japan! :D You're also I think the second [ if not first.. hmm... ] person on Youtube who hasn't said anything negative about Japan, in terms of the ppl's attitudes towards foreigners, which leads me to my question: were you treated rudely/negatively at all because you aren't Japanese? I'm half white half asian living in Canada, and I really want to move to Japan when I'm older, so I'm trying to get as much feedback on this as possible ^^

  • I wanna go to japan for reasons >>

  • konichiwa o genki desu ka! watashi wa kursty :3 lol i am learning japanese teehee awesome i am on youtube to find some more japanese stuff kk byee

  • @monsterhuntersadness speak for yourself.

At least she's not hiding behind a computer screen, making fun of people.

  • @monsterhuntersadness

what. the. fuck crawled up your ass and died?

  • @monsterhuntersadness Keyboard warrior much? No, your not cool, so stop acting like one, you ugly motherfucker.

  • @monsterhuntersadness =.= That was rude! That is why you don't get to go to Japan!!! Rude people can't go there!

  • @girrulez77 - HAHAHA... SHIT JAPANESE ARE RUDE! WUTCHOO TALKIN BOUT? THEY RACIST AGAINST BLACKS, CHINESE, KOREANS, FILIPINOS, LATINOS ETC.! THEY JUST HIDE IT & SWEETALK! HECK THEY EVEN RACIST AGAINST WILDLIFE LIKE - WHALES, DOLPHINS, TUNAS, OCTOPUS, FILIPINOS ETC. THEY JUST HIDE IT & PRETEND & SWEETALK.... HAHAHA.... BETTA LEARN HOW TO EAT CHOPSTICKS! LOL...

  • @marumitoI still love Japan o-o AND I FAIL AT CHOP STICKS XD

  • @girrulez77

    Don't feed the troll.

  • @EngNaruSuks Yes! >:D

  • @marumito -_-

  • @zutora11

If that's generally true, then the Japanese are racist.

  • Thanks for the FAQ.

Im in japan now but it helped me a lot before i went/when i applied.

    Look at my v-log too.

PS looove the hat darling. ;]

  • compuers ar kool 6:44

  • TNX SOOOO MUCH THIS INCOUREGES ME TO GO EVEN MORE

  • UR HAT is cute!!!!?

  • what smaller city did u go to? i plan on going to nagasaki haha.

  • i have a question that I ask a lot of exchange students that go to Japan. Is it easy to make friends in school? some people will say all they do is study and they don't usually like to interact with exchange students. Others will say I made so many friends, they came up to me first and they were all interested in me and my country and we would hang out outside of school and I'm still close with them.

What do you think your experiance was more like? I would like to make some friends if I go (:

  • what is your ethnicity?

  • The only minor difference between you and japanese girls is that you grew up in a country based on brainwashing.

  • I'm soooo excited! I'm going to Japan in 2012-2013!

It's going to be expensive... So for the time I have to wait, I'll be working my butt of trying to pay the tuition of 11,500 :| That is if the price doesn't go up more, but it dad last year. It used to only be $10,500 ;(

  • @peachyfizz im going to do the same thing around the same time...and i have the same problem....why does it have to cost so much.... but im going to have to make about the same amount of money, PLUS four airplane tickets, PLUS pocket money.... :P oh well, hope we can do it >:)

  • @LittleMissHell1

Same here! Haha, I'm really going to try to earn scholarships though, because even if I get a job, they're not going to let me work everyday (since there are other employees as well) so I might not get as many hours as I want each week. :| Bah humbug. What program are you going with? :D

  • @peachyfizz either ASSE or STS, most likely STS because it is $850 cheaper, but i don't know about the scholerships on thay one, what program are you going with??? :/

  • @LittleMissHell1

    I'm going with AFS :)

But I think I've changed my destination from Japan to France. I'm taking French in high school now, so I'll be able to know more of the language and it'll be easier for me to learn while I'm in France, thus making the experience more enjoyable and memorable. And, on a side note, it's cheaper.

  • @peachyfizz

not going to lie, France would be my last choice because

    1. i already know how to speak it, im canadian, so i have been takeing it since grade one.

    2. and i am just intrested in japanese culture more then french. but hey, if thats where you want to go then who am i to say? :)

  • @LittleMissHell1

Ah, I actually changed my mine to going back to Japan AGAIN. I've always been interested in the Asian culture. The only problem is... Money. Any money I earn needs to go to my college funds, there is no way in h3ll I'll be able to pay for college when the time comes. The only way I'll be able to go is if I win a scholarship for AFS ;] I'm learning French, I'm a begginer (I started high school this monday!) comme ci, comme ca! <---- lol

  • @peachyfizz

my parents are paying for my college :> but im still going to need to pay for the trip myself. i did the math on how many hours im going to need to work to make enough money...980 hours of working... so if i work 4 hours every day, by the end of the week i should make around $287.00...... it's not bad, but oh well. haha. i don't start school untill september 7th :>.

  • @LittleMissHell1

Ah, see, my mom can't (she's divorced). She's on Medical Disability too, so we get even less money then an average working parent. Plus, I have a twin brother who'll be going to college the same time I do (obviously, were twins). I won't be able to work because 1.They won't let me work everyday since they have other employees who want to work as well, and 2. I'm only a freshmen in high school, but I'm taking an AP class for college credit and I have SO much work.

  • I'm going to Japan next year. I'm so excited! But I was really nervous because I know like no Japanese. Glad to know I'll pick some up while there hehe.

  • @NightmarePictures001

before going to japan, please learn, japanese language, japanese culture, and most important, learn japanese politness

  • @jin54363

Thanks so much for your reply. I am subscribed to some "How to learn Japanese" channels, and I do have some Japanese friends. So Hopefully I'll be able to get them to helpme out. Wish me luck! :D

  • @NightmarePictures001

you can subscribe to japaneseipod, you can search in my friendlist

i'm also planning to live in japan, the city i wish to stay is okinawa because, its the home of karate, and i wish to become a strong karateka, and also for many different reasons.

  • @NightmarePictures001 i give you a tip: study as hard as you can now cause you'll need it. It's true you don.t need to speak japanese there if you know ilke 0 words you can still survive (I think)

but being able to talk japanese is very fun and you can talk to other japanese people and that's wonderful experience

  • @Coolroekoe Thanks so much! Actually I'm not able to go to Japan just yet. I'm gonna go later. So i think I'm gonna take your advice and study hard. At least this way i will have more time and will be able to learn a lot more than what I would have in that short period of time before the trip. Thanks so much for your advice! it was really help full ^^.

  • @NightmarePictures001 no prob ^ ^

  • @NightmarePictures001 im going to next year im so excited and i took japanse for 3 years

  • @NightmarePictures001 Ah I wanna go T~T Japanese isnt hard . Well for some people it is like REALLY difficult. Like for mefor example: I took a year of French in seventh grade -now 8th- and I failed badl and I have taught myself for like2 months in japanese and I can hold a conversation and talk to 100

  • @NightmarePictures001 You still planning on going...lol. Even with the effed up circumstances there?

  • @JacilleJaredLuckadue

Not for a few years now :/.

  • @NightmarePictures001 lol. me too. but I'm planning on going after HS Graduation...and I'm 13 now.

  • @NightmarePictures001 i'm glad for ya,,,i wanna be in japan 2,,take me with u bro lol

  • @KbLoVsYa

    Okay, Hurry up!

  • @NightmarePictures001 lol i'm hurrying up as quickly as i can..wanna be in japan soooo badly

  • @KbLoVsYa

    saame :(

  • @NightmarePictures001 and btw ar u already in japan or?

  • @KbLoVsYa

    sadly no :(

  • @NightmarePictures001 oooh why bro..i saw ur top-rated comment about u'd be in japan next (well this) year :(

  • @KbLoVsYa

Woah top rated?? seriously? thanks guys! but anyway I decided against it right at the last minute and decided to go to Australia instead. Japan is super expensive, AND it is my first trip away from home. felt it should be a trip to an english speaking country if anything were to go horribly wrong.

  • @NightmarePictures001 yeah u gotta see it for urself it's got like so many thumbs up..oh and didn't know that it was ur first trip..ever got homesickness after u arrived in australia..i've experienced this funny feeling when i was off to china for the first time (around that time i was like 12 or 13)

  • @KbLoVsYa

I didn't actually! Glad i didn't either lol. China is really far too. and it's a whole different culture, and language. Like another world. I'm sure you felt isolated too?

  • @NightmarePictures001 naah i felt like shit being so far from home is so awesome,,and it's not so far away from mongolia which is china's neighbor country,,there was like no rules and i could do whatever i wanted to do..that was a pretty good feeling after all..

  • @KbLoVsYa

    Oh okay! Awsome!

  • @NightmarePictures001 a year has passed since you said that, are you in japan yet?

  • @TasteForDisaster

Because it was my first trip aloneI decided at the last minute (almost) not to go to Japan incase things went wrong. I instead went to Australia. I do plan to go to Japan but I have no idea since I know next to no Japanese, and it's so far away.

  • @NightmarePictures001 well sounds like fun :) Australia is a pretty cool country to. If your not really all that passionate about Japan, then i guess there shouldn't be any hurry for you. maybe go with a friend who knows some japanese, and even not, being lost with someone is better then being lost alone. get a book which gives you simple phrases like "i would like to stay here 1 night" or "how much is this" "where is **** "

  • @TasteForDisaster

Well I am still passionate enough to go, and it is really far.. So that says something. It's just very expensive really, and I can't seem to find a job (hence why I really am not sure when I COULD even think about going). And yes I do plan on going to Japan with a friend.. Actually, would you beleive I made some Japanese friends in Australia! They were students learning abroad, and using a working Visa. I do plan on meeting up with them when i go :).

  • @NightmarePictures001 oh that's so cool! now i'm sorta envous of you! and i guess it depends how long you want to stay there. i mean the plane probably cost like $1500, and to stay there i would have like 3000$ to be there comfortable for a month, i'm probably exaggerating with the $3000, but i was thinking of getting an instrument i really want while i was there :P (their not cheap!)

  • @TasteForDisaster

its sooooooooooooooo expensive to get there, and to stay there too. it is a rich country I hear. What kind of instrument is it?

  • @NightmarePictures001 yea, i know right? but in the end i think it'd be worth it, it's a life experience. oh and i wanted to get a guitar there (i've been playing for years) a zemaitis guitar, the maker of it was has died about 10 years ago, and i'm not even 100% sure if their still being made of not. you can probably buy them online somewhere (but it's expensive there) , but the only really known shop with most of the remaining guitars are in tokyo. Or i might get a

  • @NightmarePictures001 (continuation) or i might get a Shamisen if i don't get lucky with the guitar. Shamisen are interesting traditional Japanese string instruments, sorta similar to the banjo. i'm also getting one of my grandparents violins shipped to me during the summer. I like trying out new instruments, and especially if their stringed, i can get used to them quickly. Anyways, hopefully we'll both manage to visit Japan some day :)

  • @NightmarePictures001 i really like Japan, i love their culture, history, and almost everything about it. i'm learning some japanese right now, and hopefully i could go there one day. oh and to be honest, you shouldn't worry that much, almost everyone in japan speaks at least a little English. in schools it's a compulsory coarse nowadays

  • hs?

  • $200 a month?! OMG! In Japan AND in school AND with LOADS of money!! My dream!!

  • I plan to go to Japan to try to become an anime/manga writer. Already studying Japanese, and will be learning more in my first year of college, also even working on my story line. Can't wait!

I know a little Japanese and have never actually taken a class. I was told if I took 2 years of Japanese, I qualify for a Foreign Exchange Student. I really want to do it, I'm just scared. I'm going to though.

  • I am gonna go to japan when I am about 20 or so... I am almost 15 yearsold, and am going to ask a lot of money for my birthdays, And I hope that I can go together with my boyfriend... cuz he likes japanese and japan as well, :D, I have been learning japanese since I was 12, but not at school, but from dictionaries, manga anime etc. etc. etc.

  • I'm so jealous. I wish my high-school had a program like this.

  • hi!!!i'm 13 years old and i'm planning to go to japan at the age of 15 or probably 17. i'm learning japanese myself. i'll be taking it later on. i'm just wondering, i'm still in middle school but my parents already know what high school i'm going to and i've been doing a lot reasearch on it and it seems that the high school i'll be going to doesn't have the program..can you please please tell me what i can do?i tried to research online but the sites seems not trusted..thanks you!!!

  • i wanna go my junior year buuut what i want to know most is if i go to school there, does that mean when i come bck, do i have to repeat my junior year or will my school year in japan count as a credit? O.O KAWAI at the end of the video lolz xD
