This was one song my mom used to sing in front of the open kitchen window while she was cooking or washing dishes in our home in Brooklyn when I was a kid. The whole neighborhood would hear her, and you usually could hear applause and complimentary words coming from our neighbors when she finished. Those were happy times. I miss her.

I was born in East New York section of Brooklyn, lived in Bensonhurst on 75th Street off

18th Ave, my uncle owned the Bella Bakery store there in the 60's.

@LionontheLake Doin OK, paisan. I was raised on West 5th St and Ave V with my 4 brothers. Avenues U and X was were I was most familiar for getting my Italian / Sicilian delicacies. Later on, my first apartment was on 82nd St between 15th & 16th Aves, the 2nd one on Bay Ridge Ave (69th St) between New Utrecht & 16th Aves before I escaped from NY. Yet my heart is still in Brooklyn, my home town, and New York in general. I try to get back as often as I can. Ciao!
