In regards to gameplay and story I would say this is the best Legend of Zelda, but where it lacks is in level design. Don't get me wrong all the dungeons that you visit are great but the overworld could be better, like you visit the same places to often. If the overworld was more like twilight princess were, where every dungeon you visit was in a different area this would truly be the best Legend of Zelda
The story and the controls in this game were amazing. The only thing that could have been a little different is that there should have been more fighting. Some of the enemies are rediculously easy and we spend a tad too much time wandering in search of things, but other than that is game is a masterpiece. My favorite game by far.
This is what I've been hating about the Mario and Zelda games for a while now. Ever since Nintendo brought those series into 3D they've been turning them into nothing but linear scavenger hunts. Entering a world just to collect stuff over and over and over. Seriously, that's all it's boiling down to. I've been playing Nintendo games for over two decades and it gets frustrating how Nintendo is still too stubborn to put more depth into their games. It's 2012 already.
I did really enjoy this game but it was far from perfect. I've found so much about it that really bothers me. One for example: barely any enemies. My sister and I made a list off the top of our heads of all the enemies in SS compared to Ocarina of Time not including the different types of the same enemies (like Red Tektites and Blue Tektites). We only got around 15 enemies for SS and over 40 for OoT. And most of the "content" was just collecting a lot of stuff. I'm very disappointed.

Best game ever!! Just got to the 5th Dungeon The SandShip, It's so good plus I like the way you start off with the first sword then upgrade it overtime with flames and then finally getting it to It's final form, the master sword! 10/10.
I hate this game, if I'm honest. For me this game just relied too much on wii motionplus and by the time I was 5 hours in it was getting kind of stale. I'd say 8.0
Skyward sword is worth the forty hours of your life....actually since Im playing it twice you could say its worth the eighty to 120 hours I may play it. Seriously...dust off the wii or trade in all of the useless Assassin's Creed games you bought waiting for this game and get a copy of the first and only must have game for the Wii that truly utilizes the motion capabilities that Xbox and others have been trying to duplicate.

@Neekstarrr link to the past was flawed back then and it has aged horribly. at about the ice palace they gave up the little effort that they had in making the dark world. At least i wanted to beat skyward sword, and they didn't add a dungeon about a rock turtle to artificially lengthen the game.

Ocarina of Time for life for me I tried it once very good but this guy is getting under the table money by Nintendo one major fault is the lack of a left handed mode or version to prove my point everyone talks and shows the Wii version of Twilight Princess when Link's Crossbow Training use the Gamcecube maps not the Wii and old official art has always shown Link as a Lefty like me if this keeps on then use Lefties will lose the only modern hero we have not that takes away from the game at all
What i didnt like about this game was the major dependence on your sword. its like motion controls in twilight princess werent good enough. i never used the whip. it just seemed like the sword battle system in twilight princess wasnt good enough, so they made it better, which is great and all. but now you dont do anything with the items, and its like WHY ARE THE ITEMS EVEN THERE. There are ways of killing things with the items but youd rather use the sword cause its equally/more effective.
Has anyone noticed how easily IGN has been giving 10 out of 10s to recently? OoT was the first game to get a 10 and no game in the following 10 years got a 10. Then GTA 4 got a 10, followed by MGS4,Uncharted 3, Skyward Sword, and I think one of the mass effect games. Giving so many games a perfect score kind of takes away the meaning of a 10 out of 10.
I loved this game. The only thing i didn't like was Fi. Hell, she was even more annoying than Navi.
You step on a switch and a door opens. You want to walk to the door but then Fi pops up:

@Cutie90368rox This was actually probably the hardest first boss I've ever fought in a zelda game. I didn't die, but of myself and my two friends, we're all zelda veterans, and they both died on the first boss. Don't feel bad about this one lol.
ive enjoyed every zelda game so much its hard to choose one to be my favorite, but skyward sword was very fun and creative, just a little too easy to beat, even in hero mode. but i agree with the rating, very great game. btw, if you said cod was better than zelda, your about to take an arrow to the knee little nerd boy -_-

LoZ: EVERY new LoZ game brings something new to the players disposal whether its a new character you meet, items, animations, or even all of them (most of the time its all of them). You have your main story line, then have side missions and collectibles to find. Countless hours of replay value. Legend Of Zelda fan FOR LIFE!!

@adamwillis1024 I see your point here personally, but CoD's changes are very minor. Add a new gun, it does the exact same thing as every other gun, just with slightly different stats. I play the campaign on CoD, but it's far too romantic to take it seriously. Does there really need to be a "walking away from an explosion" kind of feeling in EVERY level? =/
CoD may add more stuff to their list, but it's generally just a rehash of everything that came before.
@kingchaos103 CoD and Zelda aren't even fair comparisons. It's like comparing cars to spoons. Two games that are not alike in any way. The way I like to look at it is meals. Zelda games are a plain meal. You've got your food groups in there an everything. Call of duty is like a plate of desert. While you can initially enjoy the desert more, the meal usually leaves you satisfied for a longer period of time. However, a lot of people will go for the desert, being unable to truly appreciate the meal

The Zelda of this game was as boring as watching paint dry, I actually didn't like Midna that much. Couldn't tell ya why, just something didn't sit right with me when it came to her. The dungeons were alright, but the bosses were WAY too easy. Please tell me you found that to be the case too. The bosses were about as threatening as... I'd like to say an enemy on the field, but... =/

I haven't played this game for so long. I've been playing okami. It feels alot like twilight princess. The frame rate is god awful though. I've never had a problem with frame rate in this though. Well, exept for when i got captured by the bokoblins at eldin valcano. The frame rate droped under 30fps... Not cool @_@

I wouldnt say SS was the best zelda ever... even with wii motion plus, the motion controls were kinda frustrating sometimes, fi was more annoying than navi, and the bosses were kinda lame. but it was looooooong as a mofo and I did like the story a lot. also the layout of the world was cool and different
@VenomsRage815 Actually, Minish Cap came before OoT, and one other did as well. Then it was OoT, and then that split into three storylines. 1. Assuming Link lost against Ganon, it moved to ALttP, TP, etc. 2. Link left the future, but Ganon re-rose in the future, which is the story presented in Wind Waker., then PH and ST came along. Then, of course, 3. Kid Link's Story branch, which was of Majora's Mask. I believe Four Swords and Four Swords Adventures falls into this one too.
@knowwhoiamyet i thought some of them weren't really connected but OoT, MM, SS, and TP were definitely part of the same story line. and it was nice to hear the origin where you get to actually make the master sword and fight demise and learn about where hyrule came from and why link and ganon are destined to fight. it set the whole series up nicely and tied things together
@VenomsRage815 It looks that way, yeah. I don't know HOW some of them connect, but they do apparently. The three branches of OoT is an interesting concept though. It makes sense (to an extent) as well.

@MELEECONQUEST Zelda is an exclusive IP of Nintendo. You will only be able to play Zelda titles on Nintendo handhelds and consoles. For example, Skyward Sword (the game reviewed in this video) is on the Wii.

Fuck the haters. Skyward sword is arguably the best game that was made for any third generation system. Please consider reusing this game engine for a sequel so the hardcore adventure gamers do not have to wait so long for another. Motion plus controls and sword fighting are an epic combination that should, nay, must be used again. Keep up the good work and do not settle for less than perfection with the Zelda series.
I just got the game, going through the 3rd temple, and I got to say that it is one of the best I have ever played. People are too harsh on the Zelda series now and days because there is constant change to the series. So you don't like one aspect of the games, it still a great game. If it wasn't, why do you keep playing and beating them? I like that in order to get to a "Dungeon", you have have to solve the puzzles before hand. All I am going to say is if you don't like em, don't play em.
zelda fans who hate this game are just salty because it doesnt touch their nostalgic heart like OoT, MM, or ALttP did. IMHO this outdoes every other zelda game, the only missing thing is zora's and a village or two on earth wouldnt have hurt
Not enough voice acting? The thing that made me hate this game (aside from the gimmecky motion control) is the fact that Link is constantly grunting and panting and making all sorts of noises that normally I hear coming out of the bathroom when my brother goes in there.

"Greatest Zelda game ever created" stopped watching right there. This reviewer has obviously not even played the first three Zelda games, all of which take a massive dump on SS. @Neekstarrr link to the past was flawed back then and it has aged horribly. at about the ice palace they gave up the little effort that they had in making the dark world. At least i wanted to beat skyward sword, and they didn't add a dungeon about a rock turtle to artificially lengthen the game.

@Neekstarrr and puzzles are bad things? aren't zelda game suppose to be about puzzles and fighting? and that brings me to another point. the combat. even if your one of those people whitch the controls didn't work so well ( they worked about 95% of the time for me) you have to admit swinging your sword strategically is more fun the chasing after a Stalfos who wont stay the hell still.

Ocarina of Time for life for me I tried it once very good but this guy is getting under the table money by Nintendo one major fault is the lack of a left handed mode or version to prove my point everyone talks and shows the Wii version of Twilight Princess when Link's Crossbow Training use the Gamcecube maps not the Wii and old official art has always shown Link as a Lefty like me if this keeps on then use Lefties will lose the only modern hero we have not that takes away from the game at all

What i didnt like about this game was the major dependence on your sword. its like motion controls in twilight princess werent good enough. i never used the whip. it just seemed like the sword battle system in twilight princess wasnt good enough, so they made it better, which is great and all. but now you dont do anything with the items, and its like WHY ARE THE ITEMS EVEN THERE. There are ways of killing things with the items but youd rather use the sword cause its equally/more effective.

Has anyone noticed how easily IGN has been giving 10 out of 10s to recently? OoT was the first game to get a 10 and no game in the following 10 years got a 10. Then GTA 4 got a 10, followed by MGS4,Uncharted 3, Skyward Sword, and I think one of the mass effect games. Giving so many games a perfect score kind of takes away the meaning of a 10 out of 10.

I loved this game. The only thing i didn't like was Fi. Hell, she was even more annoying than Navi.
You step on a switch and a door opens. You want to walk to the door but then Fi pops up:
"Master, i have important information for you. It seems like that door over there just opened once you stepped on the switch. Based on my analysis there is a 90% chance that this door leads to the room where you need to go next."

LoZ: EVERY new LoZ game brings something new to the players disposal whether its a new character you meet, items, animations, or even all of them (most of the time its all of them). You have your main story line, then have side missions and collectibles to find. Countless hours of replay value. Legend Of Zelda fan FOR LIFE!!

They are always improving on ideas, and actually listen to fan input about what needs to be fixed/changed. Every COD game that has ever been made has had new characters, items, and animations. So what's your point? As to saying COD is straightforward, that's like saying Zelda is straight forward. Aim and hit.

@adamwillis1024 I see your point here personally, but CoD's changes are very minor. Add a new gun, it does the exact same thing as every other gun, just with slightly different stats. I play the campaign on CoD, but it's far too romantic to take it seriously. Does there really need to be a "walking away from an explosion" kind of feeling in EVERY level? =/
CoD may add more stuff to their list, but it's generally just a rehash of everything that came before.

@kingchaos103 CoD and Zelda aren't even fair comparisons. It's like comparing cars to spoons. Two games that are not alike in any way. The way I like to look at it is meals. Zelda games are a plain meal. You've got your food groups in there an everything. Call of duty is like a plate of desert. While you can initially enjoy the desert more, the meal usually leaves you satisfied for a longer period of time. However, a lot of people will go for the desert, being unable to truly appreciate the meal

The Zelda of this game was as boring as watching paint dry, I actually didn't like Midna that much. Couldn't tell ya why, just something didn't sit right with me when it came to her. The dungeons were alright, but the bosses were WAY too easy. Please tell me you found that to be the case too. The bosses were about as threatening as... I'd like to say an enemy on the field, but... =/

I haven't played this game for so long. I've been playing okami. It feels alot like twilight princess. The frame rate is god awful though. I've never had a problem with frame rate in this though. Well, exept for when i got captured by the bokoblins at eldin valcano. The frame rate droped under 30fps... Not cool @_@

@VenomsRage815 Actually, Minish Cap came before OoT, and one other did as well. Then it was OoT, and then that split into three storylines. 1. Assuming Link lost against Ganon, it moved to ALttP, TP, etc. 2. Link left the future, but Ganon re-rose in the future, which is the story presented in Wind Waker., then PH and ST came along. Then, of course, 3. Kid Link's Story branch, which was of Majora's Mask. I believe Four Swords and Four Swords Adventures falls into this one too.

@knowwhoiamyet i thought some of them weren't really connected but OoT, MM, SS, and TP were definitely part of the same story line. and it was nice to hear the origin where you get to actually make the master sword and fight demise and learn about where hyrule came from and why link and ganon are destined to fight. it set the whole series up nicely and tied things together

What are you talking about there? The wii was great (albeit gimick targeted as all hell at first) and the 3DS handles just fine. The DS was huge, the game boy was huge... @knowwhoiamyet i feel like the consoles are only good if they have games that compliment the style. you cant just say "we're gonna do motion controls!" and then make nothing but sports games. skyward sword definitely used the wii to its full potential which was great. same goes for the ds. if you have games that make touching the screen fun, it's ok, even if the idea itself seems kinda dumb.

It is nice to have SOME though, because they're a good family game to play. Which is one of the target audiences for the Wii. Families. Fuck the haters. Skyward sword is arguably the best game that was made for any third generation system. Please consider reusing this game engine for a sequel so the hardcore adventure gamers do not have to wait so long for another. Motion plus controls and sword fighting are an epic combination that should, nay, must be used again. Keep up the good work and do not settle for less than perfection with the Zelda series.

I just got the game, going through the 3rd temple, and I got to say that it is one of the best I have ever played. People are too harsh on the Zelda series now and days because there is constant change to the series. So you don't like one aspect of the games, it still a great game. If it wasn't, why do you keep playing and beating them? I like that in order to get to a "Dungeon", you have have to solve the puzzles before hand. All I am going to say is if you don't like em, don't play em.
