  • Wow...this is an absolutely fantastic version of this song. Guitars (and piano) sound great!

  • Hmm - seem to have used the lyrics from Great White's version, not Ian Hunters.

  • Why do you otherwise intelligent people have to swear? It shows crass stupidity. Just grow up.

  • Fuck this shit. no they dont.

  • Hunter has the humour but this is a great rockin version too.

  • No one can do it like Hunter, but it's a good cover.

  • LOVE Status Quo, but still prefer IAN HUNTER doing this song. No offence. Quo Rock & they ALWAYS will :) Gr8 to see them doing this song regardless.

APOLOGETIX do a gr8 parody of this song too, but it's not on YouTube :( I have it on 1 of their CDs. They (Apologetix) have some other good (fun) stuff on YouTube tho'. Rock On everyone! :)

  • I like Quo but this is an awful cover !

    IAN HUNTER ROCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKSS !

  • @MrMeadfoot I agree BOB LEE Mr Rossi should have added a few more diddleys. Bad show Frankie boy 4/10.

  • Fucking awful

  • ian fucking hunter

  • an ian hunter song...but great

  • Great, but the best comes from the one and only Ian Hunter!

  • I like this song better than the one from Great White . . .

  • @Hawkfighter666 Check out the original by Ian Hunter!

  • @hongandian12 I still like this version best . . .

  • Nice version of a glorious song...I still prefer Great White though.

  • Personally prefer Great Whites cover, but this is still a strong cover.

  • cover from the great AOR band...GREATWHITE

  • bar tunes yeah \m/

  • nice cover of Ian's great song!!!

  • Good - but I prefer the Ian Hunter version.

  • listen to Ronson/Hunter then decide which is the best version

  • good cover.

i've never even heard of status quo until i saw it on my recommendations.

they seem pretty tight. i'll have to check out more of their stuff.

  • Not a scratch on the original by Ian Hunter!

  • Pure Quo !

  • once bitten twice shy is a song by the great white! not status quo!!

  • @aprovadimorte fail! great white covered it too.. original is Ian Hunter..

  • @aprovadimorte not lan hunter is original great white did cover so did status quo

  • quo and ian hunter, what a combination :D

  • Why do knob heads comment "the lyrics" of songs? do they think we are Fu*k*ng deaf or something - Plebs

  • I don't knock people for that as I guess they are very passionate about what they hear, I understand your frustration but I also understand what they are feeling. Quo Brisbane converntion centre thursday March 11. Good Stuff!!!

  • Ya know, I, I, I, I, I'm once bitten twice shy babe !

  • AWESOME REAL MUSIC

  • "...I-didnt-know-ya-got-a-rock'nroll-record

    Until-a-saw-ur-picture-on-another-guys jacket!

    U-told-me-I-was-the-only-1

    And-look-at-u-now, well-its-dark-as-its-dumb!.... Once bitten... (etc....xDDDD) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Fuckin' great stuff!

  • satan vad bra......go go go ..

  • Great coveer of one of the Quo's contemporaries from 1975. Pity the drummer wasn't up to the job at the end of the choruses.

How about covering Ian Hunter's best song, "Bastard"? Now there's a challenge...

    Quo 4ever.

  • are we sure the original mott ever did this tune one thing we do know status can make it work

  • Mott didn't do it..the original was from Ian Hunters solo album..You're Never Alone With A Schizophrenic...released after he left

    Mott The Hoople.

  • No. It's from Hunter's first solo album - 'Ian Hunter'. 'Schizophrenic' came later...

  • Aye ya reet there wee laddie..musta been a brain malfunction....too much of the amber nectar.

  • I am sorry, but this is almost a midi version compared to Ian Hunter's original version. But that just my opion. I am no Status quo fan. just wanted to check it out. The drums are espcially lame, not to mention the rest of it.

  • Status quo 4ever!!!!10*

  • Double fail. Ian Hunter wrote and recorded this in 1975 for his debut solo album. The Hoople split in 1974 so this was NEVER performed by Mott the Hoople.

  • if ya wanna hear a great version of this ..type in the angels

  • if you wanna hear a great version of this, type in "one bitten" and "Great White" and listen to the original. Quo's guitar work on this is OK but doesn't hold a candle to the Kendall-Lardie-Montana guitars on this, especially Great White's version that has the 75 second guitar "tail" at the end. Awesome! That's probably why Quo didn't even try to match it.

  • Fail. Written by Ian Hunter and originally performed by Mott the Hoople. Glam > Hair Metal.

  • Too funny, Great White followed Mick Ronson's ORIGINAL 1975 Guitar Riffs almost note for note when they re-made the Ian Hunter penned classic. I'll give you this:Great White did put a small fortune in Mr Hunter's pocket with their Cover Versions sales. Bless 'em. Check Out Ian Hunter / Mick Ronson Once Bitten Twice Shy on youtube--- now Ronno played guitar....

  • AWESOME VOICE!

  • great version of this song.

  • STATUS QUO ROCKS!!!!!!

  • Francis rocks!

  • And this lucky sod's going to see these guys on 3rd feb in Portlaoise woo hoo

  • Best version I've ever heard, except Great White. There's no replacing Jack Russel's killer voice. But I'd listen to this one and be happy any old day...!

  • 1000%the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great performance! I like the original, by Ian Hunter better, but at least Status Quo did it justice, unlike Great White!

  • i agree with loztapil best rock band ever seen them loads

  • Status Quo The best Rockband in the World

    Love them

  • Geeeeiiiil !

  • is it just me or do you think that the bass player looks like the guy with the tongue pearcing from rat race

  • Yesth

  • Can't say I've heard the 'two chord boogie band' doin this before. It's different!

  • Ian Hunter is legend and yes his verison is way better

  • guitar solo player=Francis RossiI know it's a telecaster but I want to know the color

  • I think it was originalyy an other colour but all the varnish has worn of

  • If it's still his old tele, it was originally black, but he painted the front green (never got round to painting the back). There is also a hole drilled through the body to deter thieves.

  • close, but not quite, the Tele was originally a Sunburst & rossi stripped it and painted mat Bback but didn't like it, At the time he was into getting furniture & painting it, & he happened to have the green so he painted his guitar with it. but didn't get the back finished because he had to put it back together to do a gig. There is some very early pictures of the 'original sunburst'. Also he put the drill hole in because the Tele had been stolen previously but was recognised & returned!

  • not quite there yet either ;) the hole was for putting cables through as they sometimes got yanked out while playing on the stage, didn't work as well as he had hoped so it's just a hole without purpose these days :P

  • Rossi (like 95% of live guitarists) raps the lead from the output, then through the gap between the body & the strap so it doesn't come out if it gets stood on and pulled. The hole was so it could be chained to the guitar racks with the other guitars

  • can'r remember where but i found some interview last night in which the sound tech they have (i think it was him) said that rossi has said for the cables, he think it could be against theft but that it's probably just something to keep people wondering about it ;) so most likely it's to keep it a mysteryyyyy ^.^

  • funny, every time Rossi is asked, he just disregards the question and laughs. I heard it's for the chain to go through to keep all the guitars chained to the guitar rack, i've heard about the leads idea before. I've also heard that it's something to put his thumb in for comfort when he passes it to the guitar techy. I guess we'll never know lol

  • what guitar does the guitar solo player plays with ?

  • i dont think you can really call this a cover...seeing as how Ian Hunter wrote the song...

  • Can you explain that comment, do you think Ian Hunter is in Quo?

If another band does someone elses song ...it's a cover !

  • -Queen, Mott The Hoople, Bad Company, Status Quo, Kiss, Elio e le storie Tese, Chicken Mambo, still are the best bands in the World!

  • best rock band ever seen them loads just as good live thats why they are still touring

  • The way great white plays this song just sounds better. This song was not meant to play this soft.

  • quo at there best great

  • who first did this song?

  • great white

  • Ian hunter wrote it and sang it first.1975.

  • who is Ian Hunter?

  • aye right ya ignorant fekker

  • boohoo leave me alone or al cry, ya wee fannyboz, a bit stupid, more than A BIT STUPID ! downrite disrespectful 2 a rock god more like,

  • you're the one being downright disrespectful. i've asked you to leave me alone and if you had the faintest idea what respect was you wouldnt go round calling people names for asking a question.

  • wot u doin oot yer cot at this time o nite ?

  • asking if you could please let it lie, i am sorry, that i was so offensive to you, ok now can we please just leave this now?

  • yes i agree, i must be really stupid! lol

  • oh my GOD Parfitt is hot.

  • great song!!

i have the album called: 'the cover up' this song is on there too

  • agree with jodiekelly. Only Ian can perform the song as it's meant to be heard. Even Great White ruined it, as well as "Who Do You You Love". Hunter-Ronson rule.

  • agree with jodiekelly. Only Ian can perform the song as it's meant to be heard. Even Great White ruined it, as well as "Who Do You You Love". Hunter-Ronson rule.

  • Yeah!!! This is Blues-Rock!!!

  • love mott but quo did the the biz on this song keep rocking

  • Francis Rossi and Alan Lancaster started the quo in 1962, and in 1967 Rick Parffit came and 68 the drummer John Choglan and they did their first record pictures of masthicmen. 40 years later evrebodey in my school says that status quo are old schoold rock n´ roll, but I tell them this they can all fuck off they are stil rockin today!

  • OLD SCHOOL ROCKS FOREVER!! QUO FOREVER!!C U ALL ON ALEMPOP NETHERLAND ON MAY 30th

  • that is totally the same as me - everyone in my school either don't know who they are or tell me they suck! it's so not true

  • Wow - this rocks. What vintage quo was it - anyone know?

  • Nobody strums like Francis...

  • I saw Mott 3x front row each time - totally loved that band. I loved "Pictures of Matchstick Men" by SQ, very nice early pop psychedelic tune, but this is a good cover, IMO...

  • I Play That Song In My Band

  • Draw to hell you have nothing here to do

  • gr8 cover of a gr8 song by a gr8 band

  • Love this song

  • Good cover by a CLASSIC great British rock 'n' roll band...but does anyone else think the bassist looks like the inbred banjo-playing kid from Deliverance all grown up? Watch him on the choruses. LOL!

  • damnn they all do actually;-)

  • What good fun!

I think it's funny when people go on about what's good/better/best. Just enjoy it and stop worrying about it. "It's only rock 'n roll!"

  • i totally agree mate we just enjoy the music thats what its all about. fun fun fun not a competition

  • wow! smokin! That telecaster is so beat up - looks totally cool. Love the Marshalls, and those cabs - talk about speaker city! Great cover - thanks for posting

  • They used to use a wall of Vox cabs twice their height. They're still using miked up AC30s fed into the Marshall stacks.

  • Ian Hunter Rocks!!!!!! I love Status Quo too, very nice too see them playing Ian's song. Queen & Mott The Hoople ROCKS!!!

  • Kick ass cover.

  • Sure a great cover!!!!!!!!!

  • This is one of the most overlooked 70's rock classics. I like this version actually.

  • Not quite as good as the orig.

40 years of a great band though--the Stat-an-izers of Kwo!

  • When this came out originally in April '75, Francis and the lads must have woken up and screamed "feck...how did we let this one get away". Nice version from Rick...IH would be pleased. Bravo.

  • GREAT version of a great Ian Hunter song!

  • my favoured song by my favoured group.Thxs
