LOVE Status Quo, but still prefer IAN HUNTER doing this song. No offence. Quo Rock & they ALWAYS will :) Gr8 to see them doing this song regardless.
APOLOGETIX do a gr8 parody of this song too, but it's not on YouTube :( I have it on 1 of their CDs. They (Apologetix) have some other good (fun) stuff on YouTube tho'. Rock On everyone! :)
I don't knock people for that as I guess they are very passionate about what they hear, I understand your frustration but I also understand what they are feeling. Quo Brisbane converntion centre thursday March 11. Good Stuff!!!
I am sorry, but this is almost a midi version compared to Ian Hunter's original version. But that just my opion. I am no Status quo fan. just wanted to check it out. The drums are espcially lame, not to mention the rest of it.
Double fail. Ian Hunter wrote and recorded this in 1975 for his debut solo album. The Hoople split in 1974 so this was NEVER performed by Mott the Hoople.
if you wanna hear a great version of this, type in "one bitten" and "Great White" and listen to the original. Quo's guitar work on this is OK but doesn't hold a candle to the Kendall-Lardie-Montana guitars on this, especially Great White's version that has the 75 second guitar "tail" at the end. Awesome! That's probably why Quo didn't even try to match it.
Too funny, Great White followed Mick Ronson's ORIGINAL 1975 Guitar Riffs almost note for note when they re-made the Ian Hunter penned classic. I'll give you this:Great White did put a small fortune in Mr Hunter's pocket with their Cover Versions sales. Bless 'em. Check Out Ian Hunter / Mick Ronson Once Bitten Twice Shy on youtube--- now Ronno played guitar....
Best version I've ever heard, except Great White. There's no replacing Jack Russel's killer voice. But I'd listen to this one and be happy any old day...!
If it's still his old tele, it was originally black, but he painted the front green (never got round to painting the back). There is also a hole drilled through the body to deter thieves.
close, but not quite, the Tele was originally a Sunburst & rossi stripped it and painted mat Bback but didn't like it, At the time he was into getting furniture & painting it, & he happened to have the green so he painted his guitar with it. but didn't get the back finished because he had to put it back together to do a gig. There is some very early pictures of the 'original sunburst'. Also he put the drill hole in because the Tele had been stolen previously but was recognised & returned!
not quite there yet either ;) the hole was for putting cables through as they sometimes got yanked out while playing on the stage, didn't work as well as he had hoped so it's just a hole without purpose these days :P
Rossi (like 95% of live guitarists) raps the lead from the output, then through the gap between the body & the strap so it doesn't come out if it gets stood on and pulled. The hole was so it could be chained to the guitar racks with the other guitars
can'r remember where but i found some interview last night in which the sound tech they have (i think it was him) said that rossi has said for the cables, he think it could be against theft but that it's probably just something to keep people wondering about it ;) so most likely it's to keep it a mysteryyyyy ^.^
funny, every time Rossi is asked, he just disregards the question and laughs. I heard it's for the chain to go through to keep all the guitars chained to the guitar rack, i've heard about the leads idea before. I've also heard that it's something to put his thumb in for comfort when he passes it to the guitar techy. I guess we'll never know lol
how the fuck was i supposed to know who fuckin' ian hunter was, u (and i quote) "ignorant fekker" i'm only like 14 i can't know every sodding band on the planet. by the way its fucker! not fekker!
why don't u leave me alone and go back to the loony bin you stupid old fuckwit. i've never asked u 4 ur opinion be4 and i'll thank u if u don't give me anymore now. u've said ur bit and i appreciate that perhaps it was a bit stupid of me not 2 do my research. i've admitted it now so leave me alone.
you're the one being downright disrespectful. i've asked you to leave me alone and if you had the faintest idea what respect was you wouldnt go round calling people names for asking a question.
agree with jodiekelly. Only Ian can perform the song as it's meant to be heard. Even Great White ruined it, as well as "Who Do You You Love". Hunter-Ronson rule.
