@34D2234 more or less it's the same 'heart' under the hood. much can be said about all 'American' V8 engines in cars and trucks, especially from GM and Chrysler since neither try to update their stuff. Atleast Ford put overhead cams on theirs to bring them up to the 1990s standards of tech. (though there have been some 40s and 50s jags I think with DOHC but could be wrong on that, mainly commenting about the big 3 being behind the rest of the auto market)

@experimental0000 GM uses DOHC in their Colorados/Canyons/H3's. Look at how much of a beast those are. For being a I5 theyre almost pushing 300hp back in 2004 as Fords V8s. Kind of sad don'tcha think?

If you look back at history you'll see that GM's push rod motors are some of the best. Even until this day their push rod motors are good. It takes a supercharged Mustang or at least the new 5.0 to beat GM.

OHC is capable of making 100hp per liter which seems better than per ci like it might be for these. seems to me 450 out of a 4.6 ford is better than 500 out of a 6 or 7L gm *shrug* though I am thankful for intelligent banter between us and it's not some troll on either end as a 'friendly' debate is nice once in a while with a decent person.

the car is set up for maximum gas milage and emissions. the LS7 can make as much HP as you need. mine has around 590hp with slight modifications. put a warmer cam 620-635hp at the crank. it's a beast
