A little off topic but I am so sick of people bitchin b/c they can't go on iTunes and buy one or two tool songs. For all the people that want to have Tool on their iPod, there is one way. Buy the album for christsakes, then put it on there.
@MrBringthenoise88 He's got a point. We're no one to tell others what to do. I think that you shouldn't tell anyone else what to do if you're just doing it to act better than someone else.
i drove about 4 hours from central mass to go to this show, my 2nd time seeing tool. gotta say that tool+acid+city skyline on the water= 2 hours of pure unadulterated bliss
Man i hope im not by the assholes who sing horribly to the songs when i go to the concert in July. Just listed to the fucking music and enjoy it! DAMN!!
Lateralus and 10,000 Days are definitely more progressive than metal. Aenima, on the other hand, is more metal. I'd like to see TooL play the entire Aenima album. I'd pay $100/ticket.
@Fixx613 im not expecting it but when i go to see them in OKC im hoping for third eye even though i know there is no way in hell it will happen but i can hope lol
@crappy1im almost 40 years old...i started listening to metal when i was 11 or 12 some 25/26 years ago...from death metal(pestilence, death)to progressive rock(floyd, king crimson) i think im able to to tell you or any one what is metal and what is not for instance hard, glam, pop, etc rock TOOL IS A PROGRESSIVE ART METAL BAND, trust me on this one i have a quarter of century checking on all kinds of rock i think id might achieved some experience enough at least to distinguish metal from not metal
@christiannandres tool is considered to be in the "Art Rock" or "Progressive Rock" category. this is coming from the band itself and they don't like how they are always meshed into a category which they are not really apart of at all. this has been discussed in great detail on toolarmy many times. are you a member by any chance?

Nah man I saw them in Atlanta last year and he was really clear the whole time, i was towards the back but I think it sounds really low because it is so close to the stage

The point is not what songs they played but they fact that they played literally the exact same set as they did in 07... Same drum battle and everything... So the fact that they put no enegry to changing their set or live show at all is a disapointment. And for the record I did see them back in the Anemia days... They are at a point where its almost like they dont care. The show was still great
fromwhat i read in tool revolver issue is the is alex grey;s work they suprised him with it and grey thought it was great . but yes some is adam's and junior puts it together
like tool is the greatest of all time i dont care if they played the same songs in the same exact format..same playlist same outft..they are fucking amazing..like appreciate it dont hate it smmfh...
i think tool gave up on trying to keep cameras from their shows. a good 60% of people now a days record on their phones. in this economy i dont think they really have room to be stingy anymore lol.
this was some good ass quality. i saw the very first show of the tour and the moment i heard the drums that go into the first guitar riff to jambi i knew it was gonna be the same setlist from the 10k days tour, and you know i was upset at first but really take what you get man. its fucking tool and they dont come round often and to see anything by them is a real treat so foreal stop complaining if you got to see them. they still kick ass.
ive seen them 10 or 12 times and at this show I was disapoitned because it was literally the exact set list as it was when i saw them in 07. They did the drum off during lateralus opened with Jambi Closed with Vicarious same set. Its not as good after you see the same set three times and hear the same songs.
to us die hard tool fans and i mean the ones that joined their army. if they played marry had a little lamb for 2 hours i would be pleased just because its tool. and all their songs are awesome so does it really matter if they didnt play another one? if you wanted to see older stuff you should have seen them on that tour.
Music was great, Maynard was way off. I was up pretty close. It was a halfhearted performance at best. He would of failed outa rockband. I saw them a dozen times. Believe me, he sucked Saturday
It was a great show man, more then an hour and 20 mins, the songs alone in that list just off the albums is an hour and 6 minutes. Think about how hard they are playing? They are all in their 40's with the exception being Chancellor. Danny Carey at 48. Id rather them play amazing for the songs they do play then have them start to get tired for 1 more song. I was at the show by the way and they were fucking great. Drum duels for the win and Maynard yelling at naked people while in his undies ftw.
Would you people shut the fuck up about the setlist. If you were at the show you would not be complaining at all. It was maybe tied for best tool show I have ever seen with Lollapalooza Randalls Island, when Ænema first came out.
To be honest I think APW was better. It was a festival and they were headlining.. the whole band was in a great mood and Maynard was extremely candid the whole show. They played some good hits for non-tool fans but kept it real. EPIC SHOW this vid does no justic
Even though I give many thanks to mondin for getting all of this, I just mean watching on youtube cannot put the sound or energy of a live show across whatsoever.
NYC skyline right there.. those lights.. EPIC NIGHT.. one for the books.
Relax man they switch it up. they just haven't been playing any songs from undertow. can you blame them? they were a different band then. they're just not gonna play those songs much anymore. Plus they've added new parts to a lot of there songs. and I barely heard any songs from aenima when they were on there 10,000 days tour but they played three on Saturday.
The breakdown that they played on this performance was the most extensive and interesting that I've seen yet and this is the fifth time I've seen Stinkfist played live. Most of the time when they mix it up, they just throw in the drum groove from the intro. I was really amped when I heard them do this.
songs they played live since 10,000days came out. Vicarious Jambi Wing 1&2 The Pot Lipan Conjuring Lost Keys Rosetta Stoned Right In Two The Patient Schism Lateralus Stinkfist 46&2 Pushit Aenima Sober Flood Opiate.... i would say they did a good job playing different stuff these legs of the 10,000 days tour.
Great video...besides the fact that you have no footage of Adam. I would have loved to see what he was doing during that new part added in towards the end. MJK is not the show! And as far as it goes with the same set....Get over it...Its Fucking Tool!
i like that you pointed out that maynard isnt the show, thats why if you ever see them live, he is like he is in this video, in the back, doing his thing. he said a few years ago, that the reason he does that, is because in a true band, there needs to be no frontman, no one person more important then the others.
A bit off topic but, in regards to Adam .. did anyone else think he looked like he was having a really good time at this show? Only my second Tool show but in vids I've seen, he isn't overly animated. But at this show he really seemed into it. Could've been all in my head tho...
Oh and as far as the setlist ... I'd rather a recycled setlist than no Tool.
firstly, since Opiate time, back in the 90's they had a standard 10 or so song setlist, with 1 or 2 songs changing every night. its not like they are playing the setlist the same everyday, if you recall, the setlist during 10,000 days was almost the same everynight too, flood, the pot, and Right In Two where the songs that were the ones that would change. and in lateralus, they had practically the same setlist, with ticks and leeches, Triad, and i think maybe third eye being played occasionally
No they switched it up alot more than that, a bunch of the same ones yeah but they werent lazy and occassionally moved in 1 or 2 songs like they have the last 3 years. Look at the lateralus tour, songs switched in meaning not the base songs: pushit, h, eulogy, commando a cover of the ramones, third eye, ticks and leeches, opiate, cold and ugly, 4 degrees, jerk-off, pretty sure sweat, sober, prison sex, yeah it was a little different when they cared not to throw a half assed tour together
well actually, this isnt even a tour. its only like 11 or 12 concerts. TOOL, unlike other band e.i. nine inch nails, they only have big tours after their albums come out. and i know about the 1995 concerts by the way. and as you probably know, they are getting pretty old, and maybe Maynard cant sing quite as much as now. and they have even said it a pretty selfish thing they do, as in they do what they want, not what the fans want. and this isnt really a half ass show, theres 6:37 of music up
But it is a tour, they re playing a bunch of different cities, charging over $60 a ticket and i believe the cheapest shirt was $40, oh and they have Alex Grey come on and say give us money for a tool shrine at the House of Sacred Mirrors, fantastic. The point is they can play other songs but choose not to, they know ppl like the ones on this page will say dumb things like its tool no matter what they play is amazing, fact is ppl are treating them like gods and making their heads even bigger even
Though im sure its just Maynard. He wouldnt be so high on his pedestil if it wasnt for the hardcore fans who dont care what you say would have their year made just by them suprising you with Eulogy or The Grudge. But he doesnt care about you yet you all treat him like a god, ever hear Puscifer? That is just garbage and he wouldnt have been able to make that awful music if it wasnt for us so yeah thats the least he can do is make our day with even just 2 diffsongs. &yeah they re still my fav band
The OBVIOUS reason behind the same setlist is based o the lights, video and details of the show. They are not Phish. It's to put on a show like this and add random things. Everything is planned out. sure they could mix it up a little but they all have been doing other bands/projects for the last year or so. A lot of the graphics are different for this tour compared to last year too
Hey same set list as every other night, never thought id see these guys sell out/get lazy whichever it is and just not care about the music anymore. Guess it happens to even the best of them
would like to see you explain this, yes they did the same set list, or close to it, as 10,000 days tour, but they havent had any new music released since then, yeah they could have had a cover or something, but if you truly understand tool, it wouldnt matter if they played Eon Blue Apocalypse all night...would still be amazing
Im not arguing tool is not amazing they are and always have been my favorite band, and not saying this gives me all the right in the world to say this either but ive been a musician for over 10 years, i know plenty of musicians, No ONE and i mean NO ONe would ever want to play the same songs every night over and over and over again, theres something else behind it like quick cash. The fact is they wrote other songs for a reason and know ppl want to hear those, instead they play the same singles
if you went to the show you would understand why they do what they do. it took them almost an hour and to set up this stuff and thats with the crew running around like mad. they even had trouble setting up the videos at first. imagine if they added new stuff with that the crew wouldn't be able to get it done in time. in the end who gives a shit about a stupid setlist. tool always did what they wanted to do regardless of what the people think. that sure isn't going to change now.
Heres my problem, and im going to the show tomorow in toronto, yeah i know how it is to set up a show. Not only did they not tour for over 20 months(more than enough time to prep a show), but they used to switch shit up all the time on the lateralus tour and before that. Its not that difficult, i mean it is, but not 20 months worth. The fact that they used to switch up songs proved they cared and werent lazy, trust me its hard for me to swallow to but, its all money.
Seriously, from what I read in interview, the only reason they're not switching more is because of Maynard's voice. I get the feeling that Maynard is extremely perfectionnist and his voice got a little worse in recent years. Pay attention and you'll notice that those songs are all very easy to sing : he never takes the risk to strain his voice, all the parts are really comfortable for him, he never screams. That way his voice NEVER cracks and his sings perfectly all the time.
ok but he s not. if he was he wouldnt be skipping parts and changing things around. Flood and 46&2 are no harder than the patient, parabola, sweat, jerk-off, h, alot of things. I just went to the show in Toronto and it was a joke, im not 10 yrs old i dont need to be distracted by shiny lights and lasers, i love those things about tool but its become more about the light show than the music its a joke. He didnt sound great during eulogy during the lat tour but still did it, he s just lazy now
cool im going to that convert too hahahhaa sweet. but during those 20 months, they have been doing there own stuff. not just music stuff. look at all the news things in their website. Danny's been to egypt, Adam was doing some bartending thing, so they might not have time, or they may not want to do anything else
Awesome show. I hadn't seen Tool in like 12 years, right after my son was born. Now the kid is 13 and this was his first-ever concert. We had the most amazing time.. gotta hand it to Tool, they really put on an incredible show.
no new york advertised as a ny festival nj advertised it as a new jersey festival. when its all said and it still took place in jersey. and just listen to what maynard said. because it's so true!

i think tool gave up on trying to keep cameras from their shows. a good 60% of people now a days record on their phones. in this economy i dont think they really have room to be stingy anymore lol.
castout85 2 years ago
It's only because this was a festival and not a solo show. They still have a very strict no taping/recording policy at their own shows.

thy didn't play lost keys???? thy played it at Molson! that was SICK!!!!

when will people learn that they dont play the album version of this song anymore? lol

this was some good ass quality. i saw the very first show of the tour and the moment i heard the drums that go into the first guitar riff to jambi i knew it was gonna be the same setlist from the 10k days tour, and you know i was upset at first but really take what you get man. its fucking tool and they dont come round often and to see anything by them is a real treat so foreal stop complaining if you got to see them. they still kick ass.
zepp2se7en 2 years ago
ive seen them 10 or 12 times and at this show I was disapoitned because it was literally the exact set list as it was when i saw them in 07. They did the drum off during lateralus opened with Jambi Closed with Vicarious same set. Its not as good after you see the same set three times and hear the same songs.

yea that jus so terrible sorry u had to sit through that (lol,im bitter they sold out in GA b4 i got tickets.) lucky you haha
TaOpOcL462 2 years ago
to us die hard tool fans and i mean the ones that joined their army. if they played marry had a little lamb for 2 hours i would be pleased just because its tool. and all their songs are awesome so does it really matter if they didnt play another one? if you wanted to see older stuff you should have seen them on that tour.

Music was great, Maynard was way off. I was up pretty close. It was a halfhearted performance at best. He would of failed outa rockband. I saw them a dozen times. Believe me, he sucked Saturday
giorgeos 2 years ago
He was a little hard to hear, the shows i saw before he was rocking out more and sounded better. It was still a slamming show though.
sublime1141 2 years ago
It was a great show man, more then an hour and 20 mins, the songs alone in that list just off the albums is an hour and 6 minutes. Think about how hard they are playing? They are all in their 40's with the exception being Chancellor. Danny Carey at 48. Id rather them play amazing for the songs they do play then have them start to get tired for 1 more song. I was at the show by the way and they were fucking great. Drum duels for the win and Maynard yelling at naked people while in his undies ftw.
sublime1141 2 years ago
From Ireland, was there and had a blast! Home now and miss it for the dear heavens

Relax man they switch it up. they just haven't been playing any songs from undertow. can you blame them? they were a different band then. they're just not gonna play those songs much anymore. Plus they've added new parts to a lot of there songs. and I barely heard any songs from aenima when they were on there 10,000 days tour but they played three on Saturday.
greyfoxx29 2 years ago
The breakdown that they played on this performance was the most extensive and interesting that I've seen yet and this is the fifth time I've seen Stinkfist played live. Most of the time when they mix it up, they just throw in the drum groove from the intro. I was really amped when I heard them do this.
dindelicato 2 years ago
songs they played live since 10,000days came out. Vicarious Jambi Wing 1&2 The Pot Lipan Conjuring Lost Keys Rosetta Stoned Right In Two The Patient Schism Lateralus Stinkfist 46&2 Pushit Aenima Sober Flood Opiate.... i would say they did a good job playing different stuff these legs of the 10,000 days tour.
crappy1 2 years ago
Great video...besides the fact that you have no footage of Adam. I would have loved to see what he was doing during that new part added in towards the end. MJK is not the show! And as far as it goes with the same set....Get over it...Its Fucking Tool!
malevolentmetal 2 years ago
i like that you pointed out that maynard isnt the show, thats why if you ever see them live, he is like he is in this video, in the back, doing his thing. he said a few years ago, that the reason he does that, is because in a true band, there needs to be no frontman, no one person more important then the others.
dpglotus 2 years ago
The good thing about this MJK fixation is you see a lot of Danny Carey!
jaym222 2 years ago
i was thinking the same ...Danny is killer!
bitchum 2 years ago
A bit off topic but, in regards to Adam .. did anyone else think he looked like he was having a really good time at this show? Only my second Tool show but in vids I've seen, he isn't overly animated. But at this show he really seemed into it. Could've been all in my head tho...
Oh and as far as the setlist ... I'd rather a recycled setlist than no Tool.
DaisieJones 2 years ago
yea i noticed that too.
he seemed to interact with the rest of the band and the crowd more, instead of being head down into his guitar
xtremeguy999 2 years ago
firstly, since Opiate time, back in the 90's they had a standard 10 or so song setlist, with 1 or 2 songs changing every night. its not like they are playing the setlist the same everyday, if you recall, the setlist during 10,000 days was almost the same everynight too, flood, the pot, and Right In Two where the songs that were the ones that would change. and in lateralus, they had practically the same setlist, with ticks and leeches, Triad, and i think maybe third eye being played occasionally
ToOlOGT22 2 years ago
No they switched it up alot more than that, a bunch of the same ones yeah but they werent lazy and occassionally moved in 1 or 2 songs like they have the last 3 years. Look at the lateralus tour, songs switched in meaning not the base songs: pushit, h, eulogy, commando a cover of the ramones, third eye, ticks and leeches, opiate, cold and ugly, 4 degrees, jerk-off, pretty sure sweat, sober, prison sex, yeah it was a little different when they cared not to throw a half assed tour together
soma27 2 years ago
well actually, this isnt even a tour. its only like 11 or 12 concerts. TOOL, unlike other band e.i. nine inch nails, they only have big tours after their albums come out. and i know about the 1995 concerts by the way. and as you probably know, they are getting pretty old, and maybe Maynard cant sing quite as much as now. and they have even said it a pretty selfish thing they do, as in they do what they want, not what the fans want. and this isnt really a half ass show, theres 6:37 of music up
ToOlOGT22 2 years ago
But it is a tour, they re playing a bunch of different cities, charging over $60 a ticket and i believe the cheapest shirt was $40, oh and they have Alex Grey come on and say give us money for a tool shrine at the House of Sacred Mirrors, fantastic. The point is they can play other songs but choose not to, they know ppl like the ones on this page will say dumb things like its tool no matter what they play is amazing, fact is ppl are treating them like gods and making their heads even bigger even
soma27 2 years ago
Though im sure its just Maynard. He wouldnt be so high on his pedestil if it wasnt for the hardcore fans who dont care what you say would have their year made just by them suprising you with Eulogy or The Grudge. But he doesnt care about you yet you all treat him like a god, ever hear Puscifer? That is just garbage and he wouldnt have been able to make that awful music if it wasnt for us so yeah thats the least he can do is make our day with even just 2 diffsongs. &yeah they re still my fav band
soma27 2 years ago
The OBVIOUS reason behind the same setlist is based o the lights, video and details of the show. They are not Phish. It's to put on a show like this and add random things. Everything is planned out. sure they could mix it up a little but they all have been doing other bands/projects for the last year or so. A lot of the graphics are different for this tour compared to last year too
tyej25 2 years ago
Look at the set list not only is it the same every night but 7 out of the 9 are singles, the others they ve just always played
soma27 2 years ago
Hey same set list as every other night, never thought id see these guys sell out/get lazy whichever it is and just not care about the music anymore. Guess it happens to even the best of them
soma27 2 years ago
THANK YOU!!!! I coulndt agree with you more
Dimes329 2 years ago
would like to see you explain this, yes they did the same set list, or close to it, as 10,000 days tour, but they havent had any new music released since then, yeah they could have had a cover or something, but if you truly understand tool, it wouldnt matter if they played Eon Blue Apocalypse all night...would still be amazing
dpglotus 2 years ago
Im not arguing tool is not amazing they are and always have been my favorite band, and not saying this gives me all the right in the world to say this either but ive been a musician for over 10 years, i know plenty of musicians, No ONE and i mean NO ONe would ever want to play the same songs every night over and over and over again, theres something else behind it like quick cash. The fact is they wrote other songs for a reason and know ppl want to hear those, instead they play the same singles
soma27 2 years ago
if you went to the show you would understand why they do what they do. it took them almost an hour and to set up this stuff and thats with the crew running around like mad. they even had trouble setting up the videos at first. imagine if they added new stuff with that the crew wouldn't be able to get it done in time. in the end who gives a shit about a stupid setlist. tool always did what they wanted to do regardless of what the people think. that sure isn't going to change now.
crappy1 2 years ago
Heres my problem, and im going to the show tomorow in toronto, yeah i know how it is to set up a show. Not only did they not tour for over 20 months(more than enough time to prep a show), but they used to switch shit up all the time on the lateralus tour and before that. Its not that difficult, i mean it is, but not 20 months worth. The fact that they used to switch up songs proved they cared and werent lazy, trust me its hard for me to swallow to but, its all money.
soma27 2 years ago
Seriously, from what I read in interview, the only reason they're not switching more is because of Maynard's voice. I get the feeling that Maynard is extremely perfectionnist and his voice got a little worse in recent years. Pay attention and you'll notice that those songs are all very easy to sing : he never takes the risk to strain his voice, all the parts are really comfortable for him, he never screams. That way his voice NEVER cracks and his sings perfectly all the time.
shelterslullabies 2 years ago
ok but he s not. if he was he wouldnt be skipping parts and changing things around. He didnt sound great during eulogy during the lat tour but still did it, he s just lazy now
soma27 2 years ago
cool im going to that convert too hahahhaa sweet. but during those 20 months, they have been doing there own stuff. not just music stuff. look at all the news things in their website. Danny's been to egypt, Adam was doing some bartending thing, so they might not have time, or they may not want to do anything else
