  • Your vid went viral on eKinshasa

  • monster house brought me here (:

  • @StrangeAndNerd .....This was on monster house?

  • the best fucking lineup ever seriously i wish john would have stayed till the end

  • Why isn't this a fucking DVD

  • its halloween right now! nice treat!

  • WHY ITS SO PERFECT?

  • The six pointed star is not reserved for Jews alone and many pagans prefer it over the five pointed pentacle. So, perhaps it's a shirt worn to pay homage to the subject matter: Halloween, which is a pagan holiday. The suggestion that Siouxsie is antisemitic could only be the work of trolls. Food for thought and knowledge is power. Also, this song is awesome!!

  • @sugarsugarkitty she wore that shirt do to the song israel...the star of david and israel state flag...remember she is cathlic..

  • @POWERWAGON79 If you look carefully you can see that she wears an arabian headscarf around her waist. She's not taking sides here, she commenting on the middle-eastern conflict, which btw is still happening. A never-ending tragedy.

  • Got to meet John McGeoch after the Atlanta PiL show on the tour for 9. What a genuinely nice guy, and a fantastic guitarist. What a loss!

  • I love the way she looks like a excited child at :43 i can't stop re-watching it

  • I agree. The best (strangest) guitar chords ever. A sense of menace and beauty that stays with you.

  • the strangest guitar chords ever...

  • john mcgeoch you are my hero.

    siouxie = SEX

  • very, VERY INTERESTING jEWISH AND PAGANS WEAR THE SAME SIGN....2 PYRAMIDS JOINED TOGETHER TO,MAKE IT!

  • This is my first listen to Siouxsie, something other than peekaboo and kiss them for me. I've yet to find a bad tune. Always passed right by them on my way to the metal. :-)

  • @stimpp love the punk, i don't give a shit attitude.

  • @stimpp Ju Ju is a great album to start with.

  • exelente

  • Near the beginning I originally thought she sung "I wear my silence like a mask and wobble like a goose". Now that I know this isn't the case, I am severely disappointed.

  • shes real cute

  • Come to think of it, the screaming banshee is of Irish folklore, as is Halloween. Maybe they wanted to write a song that's somewhat relevant to their name.

  • Does anyone know what this song was written about or inspired by? I love it, but don't have a good idea as to what the lyrics are saying.

    Maybe it's just abstract creepiness.

  • @butterandcheese92 , it's all about trick or treat

  • happy halloween everyone!

  • Happy Halloween!

  • A Real Star!!!;Oxo..<3

  • sigh. if only we had stuff like this today.

but thank god this is captured, preserved for all time. siouxsie forever.

  • Maybe just a little Siouxsie for the season

  • I saw her live in 2003, she was still great.

  • mcgeogh sex god

  • I think Charles Manson went to the Siouxsie school of dancing.

  • thnx uploader!!!

  • I just love her improvising wild dancing, she does such impressive moves, too cool. <3

Try to see Lady Gaga, Beyonce or any of those bitches from nowadays do that, not a chance.

  • Siouxsies gettin her Ian Curtis on!

  • She could talk like this, he said, because she was not afraid. He did not know her mind these days, if he had ever known it.

  • Bands play with broken Balls these days (Shh - don`t tell anyone).

  • @AClarke2007 LMAO!!!!!

  • JuJu had its own sound apart from the other albums. They were all great. Budgie born to play drums. He had such great style playing. The whole band were the shit.

  • I have loved this woman for most of my life and can't stop. Look at her! The epitome of perfect feminine beauty without the silly Barbie trappings and lies.

  • Classic music from a classic band. I was around as a lost teenager in the 70s when it all started. And I still wish it had never ended.

  • Banshees shows in the early eighties had great lighting.

  • PRIESTESS

  • wonderfull!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!♥

  • Siouxie is my gothic new wave heroine!

  • she is georgeous!!!!!!

  • sta rola ta chida jejejeje muy chida me gusta como se ve hay la canta chido

  • She looks liek she's having too much fun there. XD

  • SinnFein4ever

They'd be called siouxsie and the angels if she was perfectly on key, Let's look at Brittany Spears she can't sing at all and the world eats her crap up.

  • good halloween :D

  • She sings in key better on record, but is still fun to listen to. Mr. McGeogh's geetar playing here is a treat to listen to. He may have gotten kicked out of The Banshee's for being a drunk (quite a feat considering they were all big boozers), but he didn't let alcohol impair him this night!

  • I wish we had artists this good today :( Siouxsie's freakin awesome

  • @pineappledee check out warpaint from LA they're pretty amazing

  • I can't believe Siouxsie was only 24 in this performance...she has not aged at all!!!

  • John McGeoch WAS the sound of the Banshees. It's upsetting to know he was kicked out and that he isn't with us anymore. Definitely my favorite guitarist of all time.

I like how at 2:13, he finds Siouxsie's dancing amusing and messes up as a result.

  • she is almost as silly as ian curtis when he dances XDXD i <3 them both so no hate intended.

  • She's so beautiful. Great voice, too! The rest of the band is amazing as well! I love this stuff!

  • Song was used during the credits of the film Monster House (2006)

  • haha i love how she bounces around like a retard<3 one of my absolute fav bands:*

  • Her moves have DEFINITELY gotten better since turning 50! There's hope for me yet.

  • This is a great performance. Thanx

  • greatest eye make-up ever

  • Great track! I first heard this band through my buddys ex girlfriend about 6 years ago. I was only a few months old when this video was recorded. Im getting old.....

  • what song, and what energy!!!!!

  • John McGeoch is the greatest gutarist to ever live. Never mind Satch or Vai. John is the greatest.

  • great song great band , this is what I call punk!

  • great guitarist

  • a co to kurwa za żydowski zespół?

  • RIP John Mc Geoch my master

  • Siouxsie and The Banshees matured through defying etiquette(pc didnt exist) and straight up sticking her finger in the Whiner's eye socket. Remove the plank in your own eye b4 worryin bout hers.

  • john McGeoch is the man

  • She really is my eternal crush...

Budgie really was a lucky man...

  • did any one notice the palestinian skarf shes put on her hips??? i think that explains everything !!!!,its about; that all humanbeings r spiritualy connected inspite of religion or country..its about peace!!

  • It's called a keffiyeh (wikipedia!).

  • Fantastic! Very happy memories! Thanks for uploading this.

Sad to see people going on about the Israel/Palestine thing here though!

I care about what's going on in our world today, but, Siouxsie and her music/songs had F++k all to do with the shit that we are seeing on/in our TV's/newspapers today!

You Tube would be far better served if people kept politics and world disorder out of it!

  • oh it figures your american

  • :| dear lord

is it possible to be that narrow minded

do you not know about the whole incident do with nazism etc and why she wrote the song "israel"

  • She got beat up for wearing a Swastika and I'm narrow minded? I guess you only have the freedom of expression if it is alright with the jews. Oh wait, jews are innocent right? Try telling that to Palentinian mothers who's kids are being slaughtered daily by isreal.

  • Comment removed

  • You are stupid. First??? What about the jews kicking palestinians off their lands in the 1940's?

  • I bore witness to the days (and thoroughly enjoyed them) when Siouxsie wore a Swastika. It has F++k all to do with anti-semetism! Siouxsie and Punk bands in general set out to shock - they were all part of a magical, musical, fashion, class revolution! F++k any of the idiots (who probably were'nt even there back then!) who make statements about Siouxsie, Punks and Swastikas! In no way was it anything to do with anti-semitism!

  • Have you thought that maybe some punks wore the Swastika not cause of shock value but because there is an ideology behind it? Little kids want to shock people to get attention.

  • Actually, for some it was and for some it wasn't. For Siouxsie, who is Jewish for what that adds to the conversation, it certainly wasn't anti-semitic. However, there was most certainly a contingent of nazi punks from even the very early days. Agreed that for some wearing a swastika had a variety of motives, none of them espousing anti-semitism.

Siouxsie could wear black face while eating watermelon and I'll still love her like a catholic loves the virgin Mary.

  • Agree

  • Comment removed

  • I think she wore it for the fact she was playing in germany, to piss off people, like what she just did to you--->it's the punk way of doing things.

  • This was definitely the best time for Siouxsie and for music. I liked the band a lot at the time. The best thing imo was John Mac´s guitar; followed by the bass; then the drums; and finally Siouxsie´s voice and lyrics.

Though, having said that, without the lyrics perhaps the music wouldn´t have come out the way it did.

  • McGeoch is my hero!

  • Poor John. He shouldn't be dead - 48 was no age to go.

  • was there saw her on Halloween nite, the crowd went crazy when she did this song!Juju tour!

  • Banshees were absolutely on fire. Nobody could touch them live at that time. I was lucky enough to see them quite a lot.

  • I was only 11 years old at the time of this live footage. I did not see them until 1991 at Lollapalooza. It would have been so cool to have seen them in 1981 at their peak.

  • is there a tape of the 100 Club show w/the Banshees, and Sid Vicious, where Siouxsie does the Lord's Prayer and that bizzare vocal conglomeration?

  • man, would love to see that!

  • nope headache. it was never filmed :(

  • happy halloween

  • Budgie is a fuckin ace drummer, bit meatier on this live and i think its better.

  • Here it come!!! October 31st! ! !This song sets it off every year for me!!!

  • This can't be Halloween 1981 because I saw Siouxie & The Banshees play on Halloween in 1981 AT THE RITZ in NYC!!!!! You got the date wrong!

  • I think they mean the Song is Called Halloween, it's not the date they're referring to.

  • ye its the song halloween not the date noob

  • She was once accused of being a Nazi because she wore an ancient symbol (the swastika) which later became associated with Nazis. She was so mortified that she wore the star of David from that point forward. Classy!!!

  • This is just punk, cos she start with punk and this is also punk, this have the energy of the Punk, so this is just another kind of punk!!!! but finally PUNK yeah!!! and no goth..

  • YEAH SHE IS PUNK!!! NO GOHT...GRRRRRR

  • You wear black once and you are labeled after an architectural style..it is a freaking disgrace.

  • LOL that was well put :)

  • First heard them on john peel bout 77,saw em 78 with human league and spizz oil, ticket cost £1:80! couldnt buy 1st single in shops had to send off to get it,exciting days. Mcgeogh was the best guitarist for banshees, magazine and P.I.l. a genius.

  • Where was that?..I saw same tour at Essex Uni. We only paid £1.75! Certainly were Halcyon days

  • It was at the (then) portsmouth locarno, looking back the extra 5p was worth it.

  • John McGeoch = Genius

  • YES HE WAS GREAT. here...

  • this has just reminded me why i fell in love with siouxsie and the banshees, in my opinion this live version is better than the JUJU one, thanks for posting.

  • I agree. In 1979, when I first heard punk bands, I thought they were terrible and talentless. Then by mid-1981, I was hooked. As far as the term "Goth," well, Souxsie was punk. I don't remember people applying the term 'goth' til Sisters of Mercy came around.

  • Oh my God what is she wearing! I LOVE HER STYLE, really. :)

  • I like how the Monster House movie, considering it's a kid's movie, used this song for the ending credit's rather than have some teen band do a crappy remake.

  • Only one more season to go until Halloween!

  • The media takes an innovative sound like Goth turns it into a fashion trend, spawning a generation of confused youths who don't know the roots of what they are following.Great song/video from one of the greatest bands of all time.

  • Your music comforted me through some really dark times - and probably created a few dark times, too. :)

    Viva la Susan!

  • Back when goth wasn't a trend. Yeah I'm dissing the fucking Hot topic kids.

  • hot topic kids are not goth, they are fakes and douches

  • Ahh,Yes, the kids who think Goth is "Fall Out Boy",hahahaa

  • @Devilsblood Those Hot Topic twirps need a good thorough 'schooling ' of what REAL [goth] ...(then called) death rock..is!

  • @frankkubb Amen

  • this is good

  • love 2 be stranded with her shes hot

  • I went to a gig on this tour. The band signed my t-shirt! I wish I knew where it was be worth a bit on e-bay!

  • i would keep it and sleep in it and carry it with me everywhere like a blankie...!

  • Este video está chingón. I love her!!!

  • Best Siouxsie song ever!!! ^___^

  • i agree

  • Amazing performance by a great band!

  • This is an amazing show. Thanks for posting!

  • Ale kaszana...

  • She's such a siren;I'd shipwreck on reef for her.

  • juju was one of the most innovative sounding albums ive ever heard....this is great stuff

  • This is my favorite Siouxsie and The Banshees song *-*

  • Now this is the Siouxsie I love, I still love her, but she's a lot moire of a glamourous diva now, here she is fucking badass.

  • i agree with you.she is a fucking rebel here. her last album is an amazing, classy, mature diva album.but she is still ass kicking on stage.her punk spirit never dies.

  • this is all I'ma be singing this month!

    ;D

  • John McGeogh was a genius...Magazine/PIL/Banshees what a CV !!!!

  • Johnny Marr cites him as one of his ten best guitarists!

  • What a great band! And Siouxsie is the most beautiful woman ever. I loves.

  • thank you for posting this

  • R.I.P JOHN MCGEOGH. still best guitarist they ever had

  • VIVA SIOUXIE (y los banshees), CABRONES...

  • get's me stoked every Hallow's Eve!

  • Wow, found this and realised i was there when it was recorded. one of the best gigs i have been to.

  • Love the fast guitar part in this song.

  • Shame alot of bands are crap these days eh?

Except for Tool for example and Smashing Pumpkins to name a few.

  • Mmmhmmm :)

  • Siouxsie's newest "Into a Swan" can be seen in my vlog

  • They were highly motivated and diciplined in what they were doing after all the trouble they were going through in their early career. And this vid proves the Mc Geogh line up was the most efficient.

  • I think alot of these post punk bands made great records but maybe weren't so good live. Not so with siouxsie and the banshees -- they were as good live as on record.

  • awesome band, seen them live, great musicians. John makes the edge of U2 look like a clown.

  • Simply can't agree with the last bit. You would never say that had you ever listened to "Achtung, Baby!". But to each their own, right? :)

It must have been fantastic to watch them live, I imagine.

  • Edge mentions McGeogh by name as an important influence. Check out Andy Summer's "One Train Later", the intro is by Edge.

  • RIP John McGeoch, you were one of the best!

  • Trick or treat?! Neither!

It is SIOUXSIE AND THE BANSHEES!!!!!!

  • Goth Forever

  • I saw Siouxsie and co. play at Lucerna in Prague on Halloween night in 1991. They were great!

As for this performance, good for her to open with "Israel" and to wear the Star of David on Westdeutsche Rundfunk! Oh, yeah - she's HOT too.

  • I love Siouxie since 1985. Viva Mexico¡¡¡

  • My God I love her...5/5. Siouxsie forever!

  • Goth Forever. And this is a beautiful video, Siouxsie!~she looks soooooooooo kute in this video ^_^

  • Siouxsie invented everything. She is Who is.

  • "I wear my silence like a mask, and murmur like a ghost~~~" Tee-hee-hee! I love that part!
