Actually, for some it was and for some it wasn't. For Siouxsie, who is Jewish for what that adds to the conversation, it certainly wasn't anti-semitic. However, there was most certainly a contingent of nazi punks from even the very early days. Agreed that for some wearing a swastika had a variety of motives, none of them espousing anti-semitism.

This was definitely the best time for Siouxsie and for music. I liked the band a lot at the time. The best thing imo was John Mac´s guitar; followed by the bass; then the drums; and finally Siouxsie´s voice and lyrics.

Though, having said that, without the lyrics perhaps the music wouldn´t have come out the way it did.

Gothic als Begriff gabs damals noch gar nicht. Hab den zum ersten Mal Mitte 83 gehört, als sich Bauhaus auflösten (war damals gerade in London). 1980 haben wir alle über Souxsie, Budgie & Co nur gelacht. Keiner hat die ernstgenommen und in der "Sounds", NME ...wurden die jeden Monat als "running Gag" durch den Kakao gezogen. Heute, jedoch, liebe ich sie.
