  • Get Happy is an addictive album. First time I thought "not bad" and now I can't stop listening it.

  • E Costello has that rare combo that you DO NOT see in ANYONE in music today...fuck John Mayer and all the stupid wannabes...E put in time effort soul and NATURAL talent and craftsmanship. His songwriting is never going to be repeated again. I get so sick of people saying that Paul McCartney / Lennon were the best song writers.... hellano. E Costello blows them away. His singing has more texture than anyone else.. his lyrics have so much meaning and are clever. ALL this while still dance-able..

  • @TheProgSound He is good, however I believe McCartney and Lennon wrote some great songs themselves. Springsteen also gives elvis a run for his money

  • My Favorite song off "Get Happy".. terrific record, great vocal. Turn it up loud and annoy the neighbors!

  • Elvis Costello is such a dreamboat!!!! I wish he would accompany me to a club!!

  • Superbly clever lyrics in this....and his voice rarely sounded better.

  • @RichVee Sooner or later we all go to a Jazz Festival....ha! someone here posted about going to a Jazz Festival...only later did I realized it was a year old post. Hope every one here has a grand tune filled Summer.

  • Back in '78 I was the only one in my group who was an E. C. fan and I was beyond excited about going to see Elvis and the Attractions at Hollywood High School...others came aboard as their music tastes matured. Have fun at the jazz festival...

  • @sgr48 How in the hell did you know I was going to the jazz festival?!

  • @sgr48 slow clap leads wild applause

  • Sopranos!

  • I love Soul Music

    I love Elvis Costello.

    Oh! Hello, there, "Get Happy"

Thanks for uploading these videos RichVee

  • This makes me weep. When Elvis was Angry, he was myself, and my God.

  • i love this song , i got my kids to sing it with me it drives my wife crazy lol i love it!! rock on elvis!!!

  • hooray for great music and bad dancing!!!

  • just stop it Elvis....sit still for crying out loud....take your ritalin....there's no stigma anymore....no really....trying sitting still and count to 10....see what happens....kidding! I'm writing from the "Express Your Stupid Ass Self" group at McLean Psychiatric Hospital in Belmont Massachusetts....I don't know why they let us listen to you...clearly you belong here with us....I don't get it Elvis...will you sign my bum?

  • Looks like Woody Allen...

  • You kids sound like you got taste.. Elvis Costello was my hero when I was Sixteen !! He represented what us cool nerds aspired to be...As for his dancing...who cares...rock-n-roll is suppose to be fun and creative. Great move on his part with the odd dancing..He was feeling and expressing the music.. That's what makes this video so cool and fun to watch again !! Elvis Costello is King of America !! C-Krest OUT !

  • @captainarcher2 You do realise that he was born in london, and spent all his life in britain?

  • He's coming to Australia this year, playing at the Blues and Roots festival, really want to go! Should I go alone?!?!?

  • @zeppelinrock you won't leave alone!

  • @ExitosGnosis Haha ;)

  • @ExitosGnosis hey i didn't leave this comment. wtf? sorry zeppelinrock something weirds up

  • GET HAPPY! my fave elvis costello album of all!

  • het happy and everything before that,. yummy,.

  • I just have to check out more of his music. I've loved this song ever since I heard it on The Sopranos.

  • Sopranos season 3!

  • It's immediately obvious that this is the best music video ever.

  • @eightySeventh i feel the same way.

  • "Some things I never" get bored of and always want to hear: the early stuff by Costello.

  • Love him <3

Wish i'd gone to see him when he came earlier this year (Perth), even if I had to go alone...

  • elvis are so cute in this video!

  • Eat this X-Factor

  • if you ever owned the album then you know every song blended together.

  • brilliant! as always...

  • His whole quirkiness....the oversized glasses, the funky convuluted herky jerky dance moves.....that's the whole point...................................

    He is brilliant.

  • Check out my Elvis Costello video.

  • RIGHT FAIR ENOUGH HE LOOKS LIKE SOMETHING THATS NOT RIGHT BUT HE IS A BRILLIANT SINGER

  • Last song on Get Happy and one of the best songs ever .. imo.

  • i named my dog "Elvis" ...(after Elvis Costello, of course.) [=

  • 0:33 - 0:36 Sexxxy

  • There is something about Mr. EC... His styles are all perfect. I have his entire discography and love every single song!

  • Costello is so cute. Awh..

  • This makes me happy! Thank´s!

  • Still sounds so fresh. Brilliant.

  • Fantastic song. I think Elvis should just stick with his knock-kneed walk .. I think he created it too. No need to dance .. just walk back and forth and smile and show your tooth gap. so cool.

  • Great song. I used to have the album - a killer. Check 1.55 - reminds me of "Broadway Danny Rose"....Mia Farrow; 'I love the way he throws the microphone from one hand to the other'.....Woody Allen: 'You like that?...I told him to do that, I showed him how to do that'!!! P.S. EC seems to be using a Bullet mike (made for harp players - doesn't feedback when you cup your hands over it)....curious.

  • sexiest geek ever

  • I love it when he dances, especially since he doesn't do it very often. it alwaysbings a smile to my face and a laught in my throat.

  • I have finally received my cheque for the choreography lessons i gave Elvis & The Attractions..call me , i'll show you some moves !!

  • CANNN YOU !!HEAR MEEEEEEE!!!!

  • 11xzxzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz you didn't need to comment did you?

  • He is the most underated musician over the last 25 years!

  • @avatar2005 he is certainly up there with theTHE as the most underrated

  • Immediate repeat... love this song too much.

  • Elvis costello deserves more credit!

  • elvis is the man in this video.

  • This is a great song and Get Happy is a great record. "Some things you never get used to". Mainly that Elvis was great from 76 to 80 and then just dropped a bomb on his fans. Bastard.

  • blood and chocolate was a great album...

  • What a charming but alarming video you have. I think this song is great but I gave up on Elvis C years ago so I don't know many songs on that record and really I don't want to try to like him anymore. Bastard! Hate when great goes stale.

  • Awesome

  • I'm not goin' to grad school?

  • This was my favorite Elvis &the Attractions album. I saw him three times in the 80s. Too bad he slowed down and left the Attractions for Burt Bacharach:)

  • There's a tv commercial for this lp on youtube somewhere.....awesome song.

  • Christ, i wish people my age listened to this... I'd never even heard this song before..

  • Pick up his "best of" two disc. It's got everything you need. So incredible.

  • Me too in my town theres this jazz festival and Elvis is gonna be there... on the same day as the black eyed peas. But I have to be the only 16 year old excited for Elvis Costello.... *sighs in aloneness*

  • *waves* HI other 16 year old excited for Elvis.

  • oh yay so I'm not alone! woot!

  • you will not be alone for long after he performs !

  • hey im younger than you and i love him

  • @haleyjoelroxmysox Not the only one. Imagine being an Elvis Costello fan in Texas. Oh well... we have these awesome videos.

  • @haleyjoelroxmysox

You'll be surrounded by people that feel like 16 again listening to the music they were listening to when they were your age! :)

  • @haleyjoelroxmysox Hey I'm 14 and I have all the Elvis records so you're not alone!

  • @haleyjoelroxmysox Your not alone. Elvis is my hero. Too bad I can't be excited for a Costello concert though because he hasn't come to my city (nevertheless my state), in years, when I was probably 8 (I'm 14), and needs to come back! You lucky duck.

  • @haleyjoelroxmysox I'm planning on going to that show too, in Rochester. I'm far from sixteen though. Good to know that some of the younger people appreciate EC. I can't wait. Get Happy might be my favorite album from him, or at least in the top 3.

  • @haleyjoelroxmysox You're on the right track.

  • I so dig his dancing. . . I will miss those times, that kind of music.

  • i am in love with this man.

  • me too!

  • To think i only got paid150 dollars for the choreography lessons i gave Elvis & The Attractions............

  • They were probabaly too sloshed to remember any of them.

  • AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

(that was a scream of approval btw)

  • Indeed. It was featured at the end of 'Mr. Ruggerio's Neighborhood' - season 3, episode 1.

  • totally have that sweater at 0:36

  • First heard this song during an episode of The Sopranos. Great song.

  • really?

  • Even Elvis knows his dancing is humorous. In a documentary about him, he remarks on his dancing a lot, saying things like, "what was i doing there?"

  • @pearlygirl90 Wish could dance like that! Nobody has dared to do it!

  • Elvis knows how to get down.

  • LOVE DeClan! He is, simply, BRILLIANT.

  • Remember the Seinfeld Episode of Elane dancing? "Its like a full body dry heave"

  • Heh whenever I watch this video Zaning's comment always makes me laugh its so fucking absurdist

  • GOD at 1:02... just beatiful...!! the endorphins come on full blast at that point. :)

  • Elvis Costello is the O.G. of Geek Rock. He was a "computer operator" back in the day before he got famous. That's British for sysadmin...as in "Bastard Operator From Hell."

  • "cept that he's Irish, not British

  • he's english, just has an irish name

  • Thanks so much for posting this.

This brings back some childhood memories. :]

  • i knew this song on Sopranos

    Now i love Costello. awesome!

  • i luv elvis costello

  • what he doesn't lack in musical abilities, he makes up for with lack of dancing abilities

  • so he sings good but dances bad?

    is that wat ure sayin

  • It's a bit of a convulted way of saying it, but basically yeah, he was saying "guy's great musically, but can't dance."

  • I actually really like the way he dances. I find it humorous

  • i like the way he dances, but not in a funny way.

  • This is priceless! Thanks for posting. so, did Elvis or Devo come up with those dance moves first?

  • ez kibaszott ronda. a Király sokkal jobban néz ki és a zenéje is sokkal jobb *-*

  • Always will be fresh.

  • Awesome video, Thanks.

  • Utterly bizarre. He has moves like a toddler. Seriously.

Where were they filming... somebody's front yard?

  • I always loved "Armed Forces" and "Get Happy" geez, what did it have 21 songs or something on it! Brilliant music!

  • 30 years on and im still enjoying his music - the man is a ledgend!

  • No matter how much crap gets floated out there by the machine, you can always count on the real thing from Elvis. A man among men and a guitar player among, well players.

  • i watch this video and realize really how goofy the 80's were but is a legend and its not his stage antics that make him its his amazing lyrics. His real name is Declan and i was named after him :D

  • This is one of his best songs.

  • me feets still tapping to this!! norwayking is a dead beat, elvis still king

  • Another reason why film is just more endearing than recording digitally at every stage.

  • LOVE LOVE LOVE DeClan! He is, simply, BRILLIANT.

I find he appeals to the more musically intelligent among us. ;-)

  • "This is ruining Costello for me"?? "Proof that white men can't dance"??? What IS this? Are these jokes? Sarcasm? Every time I see this video, I achieve enlightenment! If Elvis Costello were sent into Iraq to dance with the insurgents, this war would be over in 10 seconds flat!

  • Elvis ....The real King

  • Huh? One of his many great songs.

  • love costellos lyrics so disjointed and rythmical

  • what do you mean, he's the coolest. the woody allen of rock.

  • You have no idea what punk/new wave was about.

  • When the movie "High Fidelity" came out (the adaption of the book by Nick Hornby w/ John Cusack) I was expecting to hear "High Fidelity". What did we get? "Shipbuilding." Still a good song.

  • Yeah...I was totally expecting that too. I was actually upset there was not a LOT more Elvis in it. ehehe The movie could have used the help. They sure didn't make that mistake w/ Grosse Pointe Blanke.

  • yeah, that's strange. i forgot about that. Just listened to Get happy on my 40 min trip to Logan airport last night in a stretch limo. got to appreciate the whole lp before i picked up the customer.

  • That was funny

  • Great song.. curious video..

  • Thanks for posting these Videos from "Get Happy," RichVee. Didn't know they existed. They're great!!! Do you have King Horse?

  • he just doesn,t no what to do without a guitar in his hands!

  • Thanx a lots! Finally the video! This song is on my top five alltime list.

  • This just could be the best music video ever made! I love it when he falls into the water! He is just such a spaz, the moves that he does...

  • the best album he ever put together; hard and dirty and perfectly constructed

  • aah, elvis when he was young enough to get a shaving rash.

  • white man in white socks, very funny!!! great talent!!!!

  • Interesting video, thanks for sharing. I had to watch this several times!

  • I WAS a teen "back in those days" as a mather of fact, Elvis costello's first album..My aim is true..is the first one i ever bought...Elvis IS alive!

  • Aw,

I wish I was a teen when this was out.

    Instead I'm a teen now :(

    With all chav music, Lol.

    How I hate those chavs...

    Mehh. :]

  • Yup...one of the KINGS for sure.

  • This song is a masterpiece.

The video is a joke. And Costello probably knew that at the time.

  • Check out Bruce Thomas going off on that bass. It's ashame he and Elvis had their falling out. The Attractions may be the best backing band in the history of rock and roll.

  • barbaro!

  • Thanks so much! I dance only slightly better.

  • Monkey to Man!!!

  • "A monkey on cocaine." Hmmm. Still, I think that where eighties music videos are concerned, a certain amount of monkey business is really something of a gibbon. I mean a given.

  • and this is what happened when you deprived young costello of his guitar. he jumps around like a psychotic monkey on cocaine. god i love his music, costello is king!

  • so true. great remark

  • Love the song
